i've been looking at buying a film scanner. not going to get one here of course, since the voltage here is different and i don't want to risk frying the device when i plug it into the 240. so anyway, it's sounds really interesting to have a film scanner...all the 35mm digitalized....knowing the lazy bum i am, this had better not be some one-off fad and a few months down the road, the scanner is just there to collect dust (along with my film cameras). after being here for some time and enjoying a normal room/apartment for the longest period in my life, i need to do something about my own room back home. i can blame my parents for hoarding stuff around the house (which they do really) but it is also true that i can at least dictate my own living space. i'm also a hoarder of trash and i've made up my mind to throw them all out when i go back. stuff like...
my college notes...year 1 to 4...like why would i ever refer to them again? even if i really had to, i'd seek a more current source. all these notes take up an entire bench of space (and dust).
not very useful magazines like past issues of bloomberg markets, economist etc. alright they are useful, but i don't see myself refering to them. there's always this what-if or i-could-have but i know it never happens. if i can throw out issues of pioneer into the recyling bags without a second thought, i should try doing that for the other magazines too.
my CFA books. okie maybe not ALL of them, but i'll probably keep the more recent level 2 set, since i failed it the first time. no ppint having two sets of almost the same material, that also serves as a constant reminder that i failed the first attempt.
secondary school and JC text books. wtf do i bother with them?
other books and novels that i have read and re-read over and over again. i love these books, but they need to go. better if they get read by other people.
clothes that i know i will never wear again. i've been "decomissioning" my clothes and mum has been regularly giving it to the gardener's workers so that they can rough it out when doing their gardening. just need to be more bold in what i decide to throw out.
i'm not going to literally fling them into the trash. for the notes and magazines, i'll leave them in the blug bag for the recyling truck to come by. as for those books, i'll probably box them up and give it to some organization.
alright that sounds like almost half of the space in my room. at least i feel that the room is much cleaner already just by talking about it. hopefully i get to down to actually doing it when i'm back.
