I mostly use this journal as a place to keep things that inspire me so I can come back to them when I need them... because sometimes I require daily, if not hourly, infusions of inspiration. I post a lot of poetry, art, music, and quotes. A lot of the posts are public, but I also post quite a few locked entries, sometimes about slightly more personal stuff...none of it very interesting I'm afraid.

When someone asked Baba Muktananda, a great saint in India, “Baba, what do you see when you look at me?” Baba said, “I see the light in you.” The person replied, “How can that be, Baba? I am an angry person. I am terrible. You must see all that.” Baba said, “No, I see light.”

These signposts on the way
are for the traveler who at every moment
becomes lost in the desert.
~Rumi

Your task is not to search for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

-Rumi

You live in illusion and the appearance of things.
There is a reality, but you do not know this.

When you understand this, you will see that you are nothing.
And being nothing, you are everything.
That is all.

- Kalu Rinpoche

Please call me by my true names, so I can hear all my cries and laughter at once, so I can see that my joy and my pain are one.
Please call me by my true names, so I can wake up and the door of my heart could be left open, the door of compassion.

~Thich Nhat Hanh

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
Grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood,
as to understand,
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving
that we receive,
it is in pardoning
that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying
that we are born to eternal life.

~Saint Francis of Assisi

What hurts you, blesses you.
Darkness is your candle.
Your boundaries are your quest.
I can explain this, but it would break
the glass cover on your heart,
and there's no fixing that.

- Rumi

We must be the change we wish to see in the world.

~Mahatma Gandhi

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless night of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become reality. I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.

- Martin Luther King Jr.

"I always try to speak about all of us, about what we feel, about our same language, about our wishes, our hope, our desires, our fears, about love, about yes, being human -- and how beautiful each person is, and how fragile each person is... And I think all these together is what I have to say."

~Pina Bausch

And if all the roads
end up in dead ends
you'll be shown the secret paths
no one will comprehend.

~Rumi

Sell your cleverness, and purchase bewilderment.

~Rumi

A burning heart is what I want; consort with burning!

If the doors of perception were cleansed, man would see everything as it truly is...infinite.

~William Blake

All your problems arise because you have defined and limited yourself.

~Nisargadatta Maharaj

You are so weak. Give up to grace.
The ocean takes care of each wave
till it gets to shore.

-Rumi

O' Friend, how will this scatteredness that is me
find its way to You?

You live in the outpictured experience of your own mentality. Your present world is the result of the sum total of your beliefs about life.

~Raymond Charles Barker

The throbbing vein
will take you further
than any thinking.

~Rumi

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.

~Antoine de Saint-Exupery

Why do you stay in prison
when the door is so wide open?
Move outside the tangle of fear-thinking.
Live in silence.

~Rumi

One of the main functions of formalized religion is to protect people against a direct experience of God.

- Carl Jung

The world we have created is a product of our thinking; it cannot be changed without changing our thinking.

- Albert Einstein

All look and likeness caught from earth,
All accident of kin and birth,
Had pass'd away. There was no trace
Of aught on that illumined face
Uprais'd beneath the rifted stone
But of one spirit all her own;--
She, she herself, and only she,
Shone through her body visibly.

- S.T.C.

Enneagram
free enneagram test

The Enneagram... is not telling us who we are, but how we have limited who we are. ...it does not put us in a box, it shows us the boxes that we are already in—and the way out.
As we become aware of our personality and are less identified with it, it becomes a smaller part of the totality of who we are. The personality still exists, but there is a more active intelligence, a sensitivity, and a Presence underlying it that uses the personality as a vehicle rather than being driven by it. As we identify more with our Essence, we see that we do not lose our identity—we find it. From this broader perspective, we see that identifying with the personality is like believing that we are only our left foot.

Don Richard Riso

Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power.
Giovanni Gentile
