Teachings of Gautam Buddha

Teachings of Gautam Buddha

On Judgmental People:
People with opinions just go around bothering each other.

On Anger:
Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

On Truth:
Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

On Anger:
You will not be punished for your anger; you will be punished by your anger.

On Work:
To be idle is a short road to death and to be diligent is a way of life; foolish people are idle, wise people are diligent.

On Friends:
An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind.

On Love:
You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.

On Envy:
Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.

On Good Deeds:
Neither fire nor wind, birth nor death can erase our good deeds.

On Thought:
The mind is everything. What you think you become.

On Gratitude:
Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.

On Hatred:
Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule.

masquerade

Woke up this morning with a lot of pain in my left shoulder. Must of slept on it wrong. Decided to cash in my massage coupon. Called Massage Envy. They had a 10 O'Clock open. I took it. Got one hour full body massage for $39.00. Ah, life is good.

Next, went shopping at Ross. Got 2 pairs of pants and 2 shirts for $45.00. Neat.

Then I went to Hollywood Costumers to get a mask for the Masquerade Ball that is coming up at RSC. It is on October 3rd. Here is a picture of the mask I got:

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): What reasons might you have to celebrate

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): What reasons might you have to celebrate
your own private holy day? Why might you want to go off by yourself or
in the company of special people and conduct a reverent ritual that
reinvigorates your knack for having fun? Here are some possible answers:
1. You're overdue for a break from everything you usually do. 2. You're
hungry for the magic that happens when you take refuge in the sacred. 3.
It's time to stop the world and jump off long enough to break the trance
you're in. 4. You would generate uncanny blessings by paying tender
attention to your origins, returning to your sources, and examining the
foundations of your life.

You are not easily intimidated.

You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.

You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.

You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.

You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're very intense.

You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long.

You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

What's Your Name's Hidden Meaning?

Your result for The Perception Personality Image Test...

NFPS - The Guru

Nature, Foreground, Big Picture, and Shape

You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on what's in front of you (the foreground) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to deal directly with whatever comes your way without dealing with speculating possibilities or outcomes you can't control. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable.

The Perception Personality Types:

Take The Perception Personality Image Test at HelloQuizzy

You know your stuff. You are Irish in your heart. You probably talk like an Irish person after a few pints. You sing the rebel songs. You drink, and probably bleed Guinness. You may have even been interned in British Prisions. You impress (or annoy) all your friends with your vast Irish knowledge. If you are a female, I am in love. If you are a male, we are brothers. We should have a pint.

Please don't forget to rate my test...

Take The Ultimate TRUE IRISH Test at HelloQuizzy

Doctor Feel Good

Last night a group of us was going to go to RSC but found out at the last minute that the club wasn't open. I was amped up and didn't feel like going home so I went to Doctor Feel Goods by myself. This is a bar that Vince Neil of Motley Crue fame opened up. Motley Crue. Hair band. Metal band. Guess what was going on inside the bar... Country music and line dancing!!!! WTF?!?!?!?!? They would play 3 country songs and everyone would line dance then they would play like 2 AC/DC songs and everyone would line dance to AC/DC. It was the weirdest thing ever!!!!

Somebody told me that a bunch of lawyers hang out there. If those people are lawyers then our legal system is in a butt load of trouble!!!!!!

Piffle!

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): In ancient Egypt, wealthy people adorned
their pet crocodiles with gold bracelets, amulets, and other jewelry. Let's
use that as a metaphor for you in the coming week. What is the most
beastly and dangerous part of your psyche, and how might you beautify
it? What steps could you take to civilize or ennoble your reptilian brain?
Are there any ways you could make the crocodilian aspect of yourself
look less scary and more inviting?

The Dead Can Doors (Title Courtesy of Nick)

Went to the Peter Murphy concert last night at Revolutions Live in Ft.Lauderdale. The opening band was interesting. The lead singer started out yodeling and that kind of sounded like Dead Can Dance but then it went into this type of sound that was very much The Doors. I kept expecting to hear "The west is the best" The singer had big Robert Smith hair. I am thinking the poor guy is confused. Am I Dead Can Dance? Am I The Doors? Am I The Cure? *blink, blink*

Peter Murphy got on stage. I was there with my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and my husband. They wanted to stay over by the bar. I asked if they minded if I got a bit closer. It is Peter Murphy after all. They didn't care. I found a nice spot down in the pit. I had 3 guys surrounding me with a big enough circle that I could get my dance on. Peter did a cover of Hurt by NIN. I absolutely adored it!!! I love that mans voice!!! He sang: Strange kind of Love, I'll Fall with Your Knife, Sweetest Drop, Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem, and Cuts You Up. Plus he did a lot of Bauhaus songs. Those are just 5 of my favorites. :) Then at the end of the night he sang a song by The Doors and we all just looked at each other and laughed. Chris said that it tied things up nicely. Yup, yup, yup!!!!

Finished reading Blood Noir by Laurell K. Hamilton

"If he'd been a girl friend I'd have asked by now, but guy friends are different. Sometimes you have to sneak up on them like some sort of wild animal, no wereanimal pun intended; all men are leery of their emotions, spook them and they'll shut down. If you're careful, quiet, not too eager, sometimes you'll learn more. Of course, sometimes you have to club men over the head with some question to get any sense out of them, but they prefer to speak from a quiet place."

"I held his hand tight, not because of my fear, but because of the pain in his voice. Strangely, worrying about him helped me be less afraid about where we were. Who knew therapy for someone else was the answer all along to my own fear?"

"Fear was like cancer in remission. If you gave in to it, even by an inch, it would flare up again and eat you alive."

"People talk of sorrow as if it is soft, a thing of water and tears. But true sorrow is not soft. True sorrow is a thing of fire, and rocks. It burns your heart, crushes your soul under weight of mountains. It destroys, and even if you keep breathing, keep going, you die. The person you were moments ago dies, dies in the sound of screaming metal and the impact of one bad driver. Gone. Everything solid, everything real, is gone. It doesn't come back. The world is forever fractured, so that you walk on the crust of an earth where you can always feel the heat under you, the press of lava, that is so hot it can burn flesh, melt bone, and the very air is poisonous. To survive, you swallow all that hate. You push it down inside you, into that fresh grave that is all that is left of what you thought the world would be."

"Sometimes it's not the light in a person that you fall in love with, but the dark. Sometimes it's not the optimist you need, but another pessimist to walk beside you and know, absolutely know, that the sound in the dark is a monster, and it really is as bad as you think."

"it was more like two scared kids huddling in the dark when they knew the monster under the bed wasn't just real, but was holding a grudge."
