| Last night a group of us was going to go to RSC but found out at the last minute that the club wasn't open. I was amped up and didn't feel like going home so I went to Doctor Feel Goods by myself. This is a bar that Vince Neil of Motley Crue fame opened up. Motley Crue. Hair band. Metal band. Guess what was going on inside the bar... Country music and line dancing!!!! WTF?!?!?!?!? They would play 3 country songs and everyone would line dance then they would play like 2 AC/DC songs and everyone would line dance to AC/DC. It was the weirdest thing ever!!!!
Somebody told me that a bunch of lawyers hang out there. If those people are lawyers then our legal system is in a butt load of trouble!!!!!!

| SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): In ancient Egypt, wealthy people adorned their pet crocodiles with gold bracelets, amulets, and other jewelry. Let's use that as a metaphor for you in the coming week. What is the most beastly and dangerous part of your psyche, and how might you beautify it? What steps could you take to civilize or ennoble your reptilian brain? Are there any ways you could make the crocodilian aspect of yourself look less scary and more inviting? - Going through the motions:devious

| Went to the Peter Murphy concert last night at Revolutions Live in Ft.Lauderdale. The opening band was interesting. The lead singer started out yodeling and that kind of sounded like Dead Can Dance but then it went into this type of sound that was very much The Doors. I kept expecting to hear "The west is the best" The singer had big Robert Smith hair. I am thinking the poor guy is confused. Am I Dead Can Dance? Am I The Doors? Am I The Cure? *blink, blink* Peter Murphy got on stage. I was there with my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and my husband. They wanted to stay over by the bar. I asked if they minded if I got a bit closer. It is Peter Murphy after all. They didn't care. I found a nice spot down in the pit. I had 3 guys surrounding me with a big enough circle that I could get my dance on. Peter did a cover of Hurt by NIN. I absolutely adored it!!! I love that mans voice!!! He sang: Strange kind of Love, I'll Fall with Your Knife, Sweetest Drop, Marlene Dietrich's Favorite Poem, and Cuts You Up. Plus he did a lot of Bauhaus songs. Those are just 5 of my favorites. :) Then at the end of the night he sang a song by The Doors and we all just looked at each other and laughed. Chris said that it tied things up nicely. Yup, yup, yup!!!! - Going through the motions:drained

| "If he'd been a girl friend I'd have asked by now, but guy friends are different. Sometimes you have to sneak up on them like some sort of wild animal, no wereanimal pun intended; all men are leery of their emotions, spook them and they'll shut down. If you're careful, quiet, not too eager, sometimes you'll learn more. Of course, sometimes you have to club men over the head with some question to get any sense out of them, but they prefer to speak from a quiet place."
"I held his hand tight, not because of my fear, but because of the pain in his voice. Strangely, worrying about him helped me be less afraid about where we were. Who knew therapy for someone else was the answer all along to my own fear?"
"Fear was like cancer in remission. If you gave in to it, even by an inch, it would flare up again and eat you alive."
"People talk of sorrow as if it is soft, a thing of water and tears. But true sorrow is not soft. True sorrow is a thing of fire, and rocks. It burns your heart, crushes your soul under weight of mountains. It destroys, and even if you keep breathing, keep going, you die. The person you were moments ago dies, dies in the sound of screaming metal and the impact of one bad driver. Gone. Everything solid, everything real, is gone. It doesn't come back. The world is forever fractured, so that you walk on the crust of an earth where you can always feel the heat under you, the press of lava, that is so hot it can burn flesh, melt bone, and the very air is poisonous. To survive, you swallow all that hate. You push it down inside you, into that fresh grave that is all that is left of what you thought the world would be."
"Sometimes it's not the light in a person that you fall in love with, but the dark. Sometimes it's not the optimist you need, but another pessimist to walk beside you and know, absolutely know, that the sound in the dark is a monster, and it really is as bad as you think."

Here's how she describes what it's like being her: "I have to re-create the universe every morning when I wake up, and kill it in the evening." Sound familiar? That's a pretty good summary of the temperament of your tribe, and especially so right now, as you navigate your way through the astrological House of Resurrection. | |

Organically Farmed Wines: a spiel Anyone who's stopped in the shop for a chat probably knows that we try to be as "green" as we can around here. One environmentally positive trend that we've been noticing lately is the transition to sustainable, organic farming practices. In short, this means that more winegrowers are abandoning chemical pesticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers for more natural vineyard management practices. Vineyard managers are finding out that natural remedies to typical vineyard problems like using predatory insects to control pests, or the use of "compost tea" for fertilization, seem to result in better fruit and are surprisingly cost effective. We have over 20 organically farmed wines in-stock and it looks like the number of estates that are turning away from chemical remedies is growing and growing. It's a nice win-win scenario that reduces agricultural pollution and makes for a better bottle of juice.

| Taste That Famous Cherry Pie The Recipe 8 inch Crust: 1-1/2 c. flour, 1/2 c. Crisco, 1/4 c. ice water Mix flour and Crisco with fork. Add ice water. Mix with your hands. When blended, roll into ball and refrigerate overnight. To roll out: flour both rolling pin and flat surface, split ball in two, roll out 1/2 to fit pan and 1/2 for lattice. Filling: 3 c. cherries (pitted, sour frozen); 1 c. water; 1c. Baker's sugar; 4 T. cornstarch; 1/8 t. salt Thaw cherries at room temp and strain (yields 2 c. juice). Taste for sweetness, more/less sugar may be needed. Add 1 c. water to make 3 c. juice (reserve 1 c. juice for cornstarch mix). Dissolve cornstarch in 1 c. juice, stir with whip. Combine 2 c. juice, 2/3 c. sugar, salt, and bring to a boil. Add cornstarch mix, cook until clear, about 5 min. (if cooked to long, syrup gets gummy). Remove from heat, stir in 1/3 c. sugar (blend thoroughly). Pour mixture over cherries, fold with wooden spoon, cool (stir mix while cooling to prevent scum from forming on top). Pour mix in pie shell. Top completed pie with lattice crust. Bake @ 425 degrees for 35-40 min.

Wine of the Week - Red Head Studios Australia makes a lot of wine: over 12 million gallons a year, 80% of which is produced by just 4 wineries. Ordinarily it’s a place where factory wineries rule so when a few McLaren Vale based winemakers decided to create a place where anyone with grapes and know how could make their own wine, it was something of a revolutionary concept. Winemakers with day jobs at the mega-wineries created Red Head Studios, a winemaking “studio” in a renovated saloon where they could try their hand at making small-lot wines. The core creation for this small cadre of growers and winemakers is their Yard Dog series: loveable, drinkable wines that substitute charm for pedigree. Yard Dog White 2006 A blend of Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Viognier from McLaren Vale and Barossa. Fresh floral and citrus notes play on the nose with a touch of tropical fruit. It’s a ripe, direct and solidly fruity white with a dry, balanced finish. A really unique blend. Yard Dog Red 2006 Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This “Bordeaux style” blend leans heavily on Petit Verdot for lots of supple red and black berry fruit. Lots of vibrant fruit on the nose with pitch-perfect mocha and chocolate notes (thanks to the Merlot). A polished wine that’s soft and drinkable, but full of flavor. Regular Price: $14.99 WOTW Price: $11.99
