Happy Birthday Jr.!

Today Robert Downey Jr turns 42. I adore him. Remember when he was on Ally Mcbeal and he sang River? I think I might actually like that version better than Joni Mitchell's... which seems impossible, but it's true. He's actually a really good singer. I have his cd.

If you've never seen Wonder Boys you should go rent it. Michael Douglas, Robert Downey Jr, Frances McDormand, Tobey Maguire, Katie Holmes. And it was directed by Curtis Hanson, from 8 Mile, L.A Confidential, River Wild, In Her Shoes fame.

He looks hot in this picture.

The Devil Wears Prada

So I finally saw the movie.... and I can think of about three things that were like the book.

Don't read if you plan on seeing the movie or reading the book. But really... you should read the book )

The Break Up

The Break Up is boring, what until it's out on video. That is my community serivce of the week.

With all the shitty reviews it got I was hoping for something so bad it was good... along the lines of a Glitter or Crossroads. Well, maybe not that bad. Maybe if you're on Team Aniston you'll like it, but I'm on Team I Don;'t Give a Shit and spend most of the movie thinking about how annoying Jennifer Aniston is.

Vince Vaughn was fun to watch as usual, but didn't have anyone to play off of.

And wow... the ten years since Swingers has not been kind. Jon Favreau's face has doubled in size.

Good Night and Good Luck

It's not fast paced, but Good Night and Good Luck is great. Before I turn all shallow, I know it's an important story of the way journalism should be and did a good job of showing what an ass McCarthy was.

Shallow time. This movie is hot. Maybe it's the black and white, maybe it's the lack of sleep or maybe it's

Robert Downey Jr

George "Stone Cold Fox" Clooney. Even in big glasses Clooney is hot, I've had a crush on him since he was Booker on Roseanne

and David Strathairn. Someone I never really thought I would find myself calling hot. Good acting turns me on.

Turning 25 and Natalie Portman... pointless random post

I think that Natalie Portman and Mariska should be in a movie together and play relatives.

And then Natalie and I can have our joint birthday party with Johnny Depp and Michael J Fox. Where of course she'll invite her dear friends Hayden and Mariska.

Speaking of birthdays, I'll be 25 in about 6 weeks. For the first time I feel weird about my birthday. 25... that just seems so adult. I really thought I would be doing more with my life by this age. I think 26 will be the hardest, 25 seems like the last socialable acceptable age to be a young moron, after that it seems sad. I don't know maybe when I'm 55 I'll think differently. It's hard to feel "old" when people think you're 18 though.

I used to really hate Natalie Portman, but ever since I saw Garden State I really liked her. I'm not sure why I ever hated her in the first place, I always liked a lot of the movies she was in.

If it's wrong, I don't want to be right

Is is wrong that I've seen The Sound of Music more times than I can count. Or that I spend last night, which was a Saturday watching it. How about the fact I have developed a crush on Captain Von Trapp?

The Devil Wears Prada

http://latinoreview.com/filmpreview.php?id=29

The Devil Wears Prada comes out June 30th! I'm so worried about this movie. I've tried to like Anne Hathaway, but I can't, she drives me nuts and I'm afraid she's going to ruin this movie for me.

At least Meryl Streep is Miranda, and she can do no wrong. And I've had a crush on Simon Baker since The Guardian. And I've read the book 6 times, so hopefully I can block out Anne Hathaway when I'm watching the movie, she's only the main character, it won't be that hard.

I've had a lot of vodka and dropped salsa on my cream sweater

So it's time for what everyone is waiting for... my feelings on the Oscars. Well here you go boys and girls...

Jon Stewart- I was hoping for a little more, but overall I think he did a good job. The Dick Cheney shooting Bjork joke was great as was the opening with all the past hosts. My favourite Jon part however, was when he laughed really hard after the Hard to be a Pimp song won. He has a great laugh.

George Clooney- in the words of Lauren Graham... he's a stone cold fox. I love him. He seems so cool and funny I would love to be his friend. Oh and Kim and I have decided he needs to be Joe Morelli in the Stephanie Plum movie, and Lauren Graham is Stephanie.

Reese Witherspoon- winning a thousand and one awards have made her a much better public speaker. She didn't say y'all once in her speech. I didn't like her dress, it was too big, if it was shorter or more a-line I would have liked it.

Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin- I think these two setting up the Altman Honourary Oscar was the funniest part of the show. And I LOVED Meryl's dress, which doesn't happen a lot.

Lauren Bacall- Does she have Parkinson's? That's really sad if she does. She was pretty shaky. I adore her. She was in a lot of very famous and big movies, but I've got to say I have a weird obsession with Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke. Richard Chamberlain really creeped me out in that though.

Charlize Theron- What the fuck was on her shoulder?

Michelle Williams- her red lipstick didn't match her orange dress.

Heath Ledger- I've loved him since Roar, but he needs to loose the 'stache

Nicole Kidman- she looked beautiful. And as I told her over and over again I love her hair. I'm so jealous her hair can be straight or curly and look great and mine is, well mine is curly.

Naomi Watts- Hideous dress! If she's not pregnant the dress is even worse because it made her look thick around the middle.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman- I want to see Capote, but I'm not sure if I can handle is voice for 2 hours. I'm so glad that he won, he went so long being the unknown guy in every movie. I really hope when he was thanking his mother the woman they showed was his date, not his mom, otherwise his mom gave birth when she was about 3 years old.

Uma- Loved the dress.

Lisa Rinna- Why was she there?

David Strathairn- I have an odd attraction to him. And have a need to watch the River Wild.

Dolly Parton- Travelling travelling travelling... I'll have that song in my head for the rest of my life.

Crash- I'm very happy this won best picture. Brokeback was beautiful but kinda dull. And I think Crash should be far more controversial than two cowboys in love, they use every racial slur you can think of. I must say however, a man should never give his five year old daughter his "cape" that prevents you from being shot and say you don't need it anymore, because that can cause me to cry like a moron and have a mini heart attack.

And that is my feelings on the Oscars... Good night, and good luck.

Oh, and can those of you non LJers please use luctyn@yahoo.com not my hotmail address to comment. Thanks.

blame it on the rain...

So the past three months I have pretty much spent every day at the hospital. Now that Alyssa is at rehab and busier so I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things. (I.E I started watching TV again... what other life did you think I had?)

An all-new Gilmore Girls tonight! I was so upset last week that it was a rerun and that Law and Order was one I've already seen (although it was the one Marish was brillant in). It's so cruel that my two favourite shows (read:obessions) are on at the same time. Oh how I wish I had the WB so I could watch GG at 8, then switch over to NBC at 9 for Scrubs and SVU.

I finally watched the season finale of Nip/Tuck... WTF!?!?!?! That was the worst episode ever. I really expected more from Ryan Murphy nothing about Nip/Tuck is obvious and what you'd think so why did they make the Craver Quention? That was so obvious. (Unless you twist it that it was so obvious no one would think they would go with him, so there fore it was a shock... but I don't want to twist it)

Which is more sad... that E! started the red carpet show for the SAG Awards at 5 and the show didn't start until 8... or the fact that I watched 3 hours of Ryan "at least I'm not Star Jones" Seacrest on the red carpet of the SAG awards? Speaking of award shows...

Brokeback Mountain got 8 noms for the Oscars. I love this movie. It's so beautiful on many levels. Although the dead animal shots upset me, Ang Lee made it up by then quickly going to a naked Heath or Jake. The thing I don't understand (and stop ready if you haven't seen the movie but plan to) how do you go from freaking out that you started to cuddle with a guy in your sleep to having sex with him in the span of five seconds?

A gunshot rings out at the station, another urchin snaps and left dead on his own

I knew I was going out with Kim today, and I had to be ready to go for 1pm, so what do I do? Stay up to 5am reading the night before. After following her into the fifth store I was very tempted to just lay down on the tank top display and take a nap. Thank god for coffee.

We went and saw Amityville Horror. Holy Hell! That movie scared the shit out of me. I remember watching part of the original, but I didn't see the whole thing. I was expecting the movie to be pretty lame and maybe make me jump once or twice. Well at one point I fuckn' jumped, screamed, kicked the seat in front of me, and sunk down in my seat like a loser. I never scream at movies, it's always Kim, and me laughing at her.

I was trying to find out if the house was torn down or not, and it seems a lot of people don't believe any of this really happened. I of course didn't really think it happened like in the movie, but I thought something messed up happened in the house. But it seems even the first story of the voices telling that dude to kill his family were made up, and the guy was really on acid, and just made that story up.

Alanis is one lucky girl, because Ryan Reynolds is fucking hot. He was cute and goofy in the pizza place show and Van Wilder, but now he's buff. Too bad he had an ugly beard the whole movie. Not that it would have mattered since I was hiding half the movie anyway.

Okay, so this is far from heavy news, or even close to important. But it makes me laugh. Especially: MacKinnon was responsible for including My Sharona, the thumping 1979 hit by new-wave rockers the Knack. I like that there has to be someone to take responsibility for him listening to My Sharona, like of all things George Bush has done, liking a Knack song is what people would frown at.

Also: The songs on U.S. President George W. Bush's iPod have been revealed, and two Canadian tunes are among them. made me laugh. For those of you who don't often read Canadian media, no matter how irrelevalant it is to the story if there is some sort of Canadian connection, they'll throw it in.

http://www.cbc.ca/story/canada/national/2005/04/12/homolka050412.html

Karla Homolka will not be charged with killing her sister when she is released from prison this summer, Ontario's attorney general said Tuesday.
Well, why the fuck not? Everyone knows she drugged Tammy, and Homolka doesn't even deny it. Why not charge her and keep the douchebag in jail longer???

It'll be every interesting when she gets out of jail. My money is on her getting whacked before the end of August.

For those of you not up to date with Homolka. She hooked up with Paul Bernardo, but there was a problem he liked virgins and she wasn't one. So he raped young girls, and Karla gave him her sister as a present. Using drugs she stole from work Karla drugged her sister and let her husband rape her. But because they are dumb fucks and didn't know what they were doing, Tammy threw up and choked to death on her vomit. Bernardo raped countless young girls and murdered Kristen French and Leslie Mahaffy.

When they were finally caught, Homolka played the victim card and said she was scared of Bernardo and her forced her into helping him blah blah blah. IMO she's more twisted than he is. But because she played the victim card she only got 12 years because she made deals and testified against Bernardo. Watch an episode of Law and Order if you don't know how it works.

There is a movie coming out in the summer called Deadly. It's a movie about Karla and Paul the Barbie Killers or something stupid like that. Laura Pipron (Donna from That's 70 Show will be Karla) This movie is causing quite the debacle her in Ontario, and all of Canada really.

I don't really understand the huge problem with the movie. I can almost 100% guarantee I won't see this movie. I was 10-12ish when this entire thing was going on, and I lived in the same area. I lived what happened, I don't need to go see a movie about it. To this day Camero's scare the crap out of me if they are driving real slow. But at the same time I don't see how this is any different from any other movie based on real life where people have died. They were all movies making money off of real people's grief. That's why I haven't signed any of the petitions that are in my mail box every day.

On a lighter note, you can now get Smarties with peanuts in them... that's awesome.
