PUMPKINS!!!!!!!

I'm going to see the "Smashing Pumpkins" on September 9th!!! The Smashing Pumpkins have been my favourite band since I was in grade 7 which was 13 years ago. I still love them, I still get just as happy when I hear the start of "Today"... I don't think I've loved anything else for thirteen years...

With all this excitement, I can over look te fact that my grade two teacher was right all along... I don't know how to read.

When I bought the tickets I thought, I really really thought I was buying a Day Two pass, which just so happens to be the day the Pumpkins and the Killers are playing. which I blame for my confusion. If they were playing Day 1, I would have read it right, I would have read it was Two Day pass. If they were playing day 1, I wouldn't have spent $145 per ticket. I also wouldn't be stuck with Bjork tickets.

So I saw The Hip a few weeks ago...

So what can I say it was The Hip... it was amazing.

The setting: Historic Fort York, sunny, not too hot June day, the CN tower to the right of the stage, beer flowing and pot being smoked and I had poutine for supper. How the entire crowd didn't break into O Canada is beyond me.

The Openers: The Sadies... I'm sorry, but I'm not a huge fan.

The Weakerthans. I heart them. And people... the friendly people who live inside the radio will tell you what time band set times are, listen to them, and if you don't want to hear the openers don't show up until the headliner is scheduled to come on. Concerts start omn time now, it's freaky. Do not scream Hip Hip Hip Hip through the Weakerthans set, Gord is not coming out and Left and Leaving is a great song, shut up and listen to it.

The Hip: Gord Downie is spazztastic. Nuff said.

When a band plays to nights in Toronto I seem to go to the wrong one. Pearl Jam played Elderly Woman and the T.O show I didn't go to, and The hIp played Bobcaygen at the show I didn't go to.

Bobcaygen is my favourite Hip song. When I was in grade ten, I was one of the 8 people in Canada who didn't adore The Hip. I blame Gift Shop, I don't like that song, but but Bobcaygen showed me how foolish I was being.

The even sang New Orleans at the other T.O show. I would have liked to see how they set that one up so it didn't come off as poor taste.

The Annoyings: Seagulls are a menace to society. Sure they were funny in Finding Nemo, but in real life they are scary wing flapping, french fry stealing shit bombers. Something should be done about them.

Drunk, loud boys in love with Gord Downie. It makes me laugh, you can get a group of men together, straight men, who have most likely said a lot of homophobic things in their normal lives, but but them in a concert crowd and they become so gay. Sweating shirtless guys rubbing against each other in mosh pits, fighting each other for Gord Downie's attention, a stolen glance or nod of the head. They are in love.

Gord said something about Prime Minister Bush, and this is the conversation behind me:

Drunk Guy 1: Hey man, watch Gord.
Drunk Guy 2: Huh?
DG1: Bush sucks!
DG2: Bush!
DG1: I hate George Bush!

Of course he didn't get the reaction he hoped for from his beloved Gord. First off we were abour 50 feet away there is no way he heard him. Second off, yes Bush sucks, but he wasn't talking about GWB he was talking about Stephen Harper and the fact he's a puppet for America.

There was a girl in front of me I wanted to punch. She was hanging off her boyfriend the entire show. Screaming and bouncing around. She was so annoying. Her boyfriend was kinda hot and she wasn't, he could have done much better, and clearly his friend couldn't stand her.

And finally... Historic Fort York is a great place to have a concert, whereever you are you can see the stage, but one way out?? You have got to change that!!!

hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away...

I was so pissed I bought the boot leg of the Pearl Jam concert and that was the best picture of the bunch and there were only three. I wanted a the group bow at the end of the show, that was cheesy greatness.

The concert was so good! They played a lot from the new album but I didn't mind. I'm usually a little apprehensive when I go see a band I've loved forever and they just sing new songs because changes are I've never even heard the new stuff or I don't like it. But I'd say Pearl Jam is their best work since Vs. so it was great to hear the new stuff live.

La vie Boheme

I went and saw RENT tonight. It was just in Toronto from May 9th-14th. You could tell it was a new stage for everyone, there were quite a few problems with blocking, but it was good. It was RENT I think that goes without saying.

Jed Resnick was Mark. He was cute. I wonder if he's straight... I could marry him, since my goal in life is to marry Mark Cohen and Anthony Rapp prefers the dudes. (sidenote: If you like RENT and haven't already you need to read Anthony's book Without You. It's funny, sad and offers interesting tidbits into his life eg: his first time with a guy was on the floor of Andy Dick's living room, and not with Andy)

Ano Okera (anookera.com) was a wonderful Angel. He was so pretty and has amazing arms.

Bryce Ryness... (myspace.com/bryceryness) Okay... say something nice. He wasn't a bad singer, but he is very thin and I didn't find him attractive at all and Roger should be rock star hot. Plus, he thanked Jesus and beautiful bride in the program... lame-o.

And finally... Gavin Reign (zippergrin.com) my new crush. He played Gordon (I'm a New Yorker... fears my life) and is the Roger understudy... he totally should have been Roger. He can sing is a rock star and he's HOT.

March 20 Oasis @ the ACC

We arrived to our fab seats in the middle of the Arctic Monkeys. Before seeing them live I thought they were one of the currently over hyped bands around, and they failed to sway my opinion.

While I waited for the stage crew to get everything set up I enjoyed watched all the people trying to get to their seats on the floor. (We were second row in the stands) Kim and I were in mocking heaven. Newsboy caps for guys and gals, and guys in jeans and blazers were very popular.

Do you have the time, to listen to me whine

Billy Idol/OLP- Because of a few disagreements on leaving time we were stuck on the stupid bridge for 2 hours and missed the first half of the OLP set. I was getting kinda annoyed on the bridge, but than we started listening to our "it's kinda crazy" mix and that was fun. Juls and i are old pros at listening to crazy music when stuck in traffic. It never fails to amaze me that no one seems to give a shit about what people in the car next to them are "rocking out to" like when I've got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts lol. I do however think on van really enjoyed out Bohemian Rhapsody.

As for the actual concert... Our Lady Peace was great. How is it possible that Raine gets sexier and sexier everytime I see him?? They sang a lot of new stuff like at the show at Mohawk a few years back. It's cool to see new stuff before they release it, but at the same time it's annoying being at a concert and not being able to sing a long. By some miracle, they went on late, so we got to see more of them than we should have. The concerts gods are still around I guess.

One day I will met Raine. You'd think after seeing the band ten times I would have had at least one meeting, and not counting the time he was sick and moved me out of the way so he could get to the tour bus. I did meet Mike Turner, who is no longer with the band, but Julia and I talked to him for almost an hour, it was brillant. He seemed to like that we came all the way from the Falls to Erie just to see OLP... of course even we didn't know the lengths we would go to see a band ;)

GREENDAY- FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!! Oh, this concert was fab. There aren't really words to describe how much fun I had at this concert. I totally turned back to the little 14 year old walking around listening to Dookie and in love with Billie Joe (even though I'm still in love with him)

There were these "old" people behind us, who looked completely bored. I couldn't understand why they were even there. The one dude seemed to know the words to songs off American Idiot, however, the entire group (5 or 6) looked scared at the reaction to Basket Case, and I don't think they had ever heard the song before.

The cover of Shout was super crazy, because this time we were in Buffalo, and that used to be the theme song for the Bills. It was crazy.

It makes me so sad when the lights dim, the confetti falls and Billie Joe comes out alone with his guitar and sings Time of Your Life.

Man, I wish I had the money and time to go to a Greenday concery every weekend.

Miss Molly had a steamboat, the steamboat had a bell toot toot...

This summer is lining up to be one of the greatest concerts summers ever.

Tegan and Sara/The Killers- May31st
July 9th- Weezer and the PIXIES!!
July 31st- OLP and Billy Idol
August 13th- Jimmy Eat World/Greenday
September 19th- Pearl Jam

The Killers concert was fabu. I really like when bands sound very similar to their cds live. I like when they mix things up a bit, but it's nice or I guess hear that it isn't a sound mixer that makes the cd so great.

For some reason Julia felt the need to talk through the entire show, which was a little annoying.

There were these really annoying girls sitting in front of us. They were driving me nuts. I huge pet peeve or mine are people at concerts who get all excited for the songs they play on the radio and than just scream "Blah blah is hot" or something like that during the songs they don't know. For the most part the non-singles are my favourite songs, and I would like to actually hear my favourites. These girls felt the need to jump up and down and scream all through the concert. And the one was wearing overalls... like is it 1994?

Tegan and Sara were great. I think I would have perferred seeing them in a smaller venue though. The crowd was nice, but I think for the most part no one really knew who they were. Julia being a great example who talked even more during them.

T minus 3...well now 2 days to my birthday!!!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I'm going to see Jimmy Eat World.... AND GREENDAY!!! I'm so excited. And I only had to wait ten month, not another ten years. It will be the greatest concert ever. August 13th, which is a Saturday. Kim doesn't have school on Saturday's which means we will be going to the concert together, which means we will be sitting together. Unlike the November debacle. I can't wait.

I'm sleepy.

You say goodbye, I say hello

This is getting out of hand. It seems I am just not meant to go to a concert of someone who was big before my birth. First I couldn't get Stevie Nicks tickets, and than on Friday Paul McCartney tickets sold out before I could get them. I totally should have just stayed at home and tried online. I wasn't expecting so many people to be there. It was the random draw deal and the people who were at the front of the line took forever deciding what they wanted, and the dude at ticketmaster was waiting for all the credit cards to go through and people to get their change before moving on to the next person. Anyway the concert sold out before I could get tickets. Well that's not true, I couldn't get three tickets, but I could have gotten 2 floor seats, but the were $300 each and I didn't have enough money on my credit card for them.

I'm just hoping Stevie Nicks comes back. I really really want to go see her.

Work was so dead today. But I had my coffee so I was good to go. And I was working with chatty gals so it was all good.

I got my income tax on Friday. I got $975. I should pay off the balance of my credit card. However, I will probably spend that on shoes. Ha. I need new flip flops and heels. It's finally spring weather, and I have offically retired socks for the next few months.

Nip/Tuck season 3 doesn't start until Sept. 6th. That is so far away!! The wait is killing me the season finale of S2 was mid October, that's 11 months without new episodes! Ah, Tv how I adore thee. Season 3 of the Gilmore Girls came out on the third and I still haven't gotten it. I'm so proud of myself.

1 month till my birthday!! Woohoo

Sweet wonderful you, you make me happy with the things that you do

Stevie Nicks and Don Henley are coming to Toronto on July 7th!!!! I so need to go to this concert. I want to be able to see Stevie, but I don't want to pay $123.75 plus all the crazy service shit for tickets, so I might go for the $52 ones. I have no excuse this time not to see her. I might implode.

Last July I went and saw Madonna. Maybe every July I'll get to go see my life long idols.

I'm going to implode.
