Can you believe the nerve?

This guy comes on TV and takes out $15,000 worth of ads last weekend to promote younger generations having children.

What do you know of this debate? Apparently, for tax purposes the younger generation AKA US must spawn 2 children each to promote less tax? WTF Where is this guy going?

Why should australian women have children, just to take care of them when they are older? Why should women have children when they might be happier adopting a child to make them better off? Why does australia need to keep its population up? We are already a large population, and we have people from all over the world living in australia, calling themselves australian and having children. Why must Australia be populated by only us? So we are pure blood or some such likeness?

Basically the problem is that there are too many old people on the pension and not enough young people working and paying taxes. The premise for wanting to increase the birth rate is that if there is an increase in the number of young people, then more people will be working. The bonus that Centrelink gives to new mothers is put in place to encourage people to breed.

Unfortunately this theory doesn't take into account that a lot of stupid people are having children and the current unemployment rate.

They also don't take into account that women are either delaying having children or not having them at all due to inadequate maternity leave, lack of affordable childcare places, bugger and all job protection if you do take maternity leave, and in general non-child friendly work place environments.

The new IR laws have made it worse.

And this guy has the GALL to DEMAND that women have children? How about he gets on teh governments back to create a family friendly working atmosphere in Australia, not lobby for guns!

This isn't just a feminist issue, but I knew you'd put that kind of a spin on it. :)

And yes, he should be lobbying to the back benchers not the australian public to get his "quota" filled and reasonable.

Needless to say, I don't think we as a nation should be popping out more kids, its more reason to say, send them off to war, history prevailing.

And more kids equals more strain on centrelink and the government, this isn't the 50's we shouldn't be having another baby boom crisis.

I think that if you have the right means to bring your own child into the world then good for you, but I think his argument isn't solid enough, let alone clever enough.

Or the fact that more than 50% of the Australians are looking for unskilled work but there only enough for 20%. Which means more than 80% of the jobs required to be filled are skilled.

Nor to mention that increasing immigration would provide an outlet for people from other countries that suffer from overcrowding instead of knee jerking to the apparent "cultural threat" illustrated by the Liberal backbenchers.

Take in more people that are young and you get rid of the problem. And they need to pay the skilled workforce more to entice the educated to stay here. Instead of recycling the same problems.

Exactly! I'm sickened that Australian buisness's are turning to immigration of foreigners to fill their underpaying jobs.
