| Just get the fuck out. |
[22 May 2008|02:08pm] |
What really makes me laugh is that this post was prompted by an anti-choicer who clearly got butthurt when I posed questions he couldn't adequately answer and so ran off and deleted me instead... let it not be said that womanhaters and anti-choicers have the courage of their convictions, eh? ;oP
- If you are anti-choice, you hate women.
- If you believe your discomfort about abortion should be more important than an individual woman's life, you hate women.
- If you believe a potential, partially-formed creature which has never loved or had hopes and dreams is more important than its host, a real live woman who has done all of those things, you hate women.
- If you think you know better than an individual woman about her own situation, you hate women.
- If you think you know better than an individual woman about whether she has had 'enough time' to decide if she needs an abortion, you hate women.
- If you don't trust women to make their own decisions regarding their bodies, you hate women.
- If you believe abortion should be restricted or banned simply because you individually with your opinion which is very much a minority opinion believe it is wrong, not only do you hate women but you also seem to hate democracy.
If you hate women, you are not welcome here and I suggest you get the fuck out because I am sick and tired of ignorance and misogyny.
If you genuinely care for the reasonings behind pro-choice and why anti-choice is womanhating, please see the following.

I want to start a social network dedicated to ecofeminism. I think that there are a lot of people out there with like minds that aren't connecting with each other because there isn't an in-depth network where we can share ideas, events, information, resources, etc in a highly accessible way. I'd really like to change that. I'm curious about what kind of interest it might attract in the starting phases, so that I know how to approach the project. Feedback please?
Thanks in advance Brandi

i am disdainful about having to describe my work in general but particularly work that does not exist yet, work that will emerge over a period of three years. how the fuck am i supposed to know anything about it now? who the fuck has conclusions or even questions before they start?!?!?

With the key vote on the abortion time limit on Tuesday 20th May it is urgent that MPs hear from you.
Go to Abortion Rights for information on how you can find out who your MP is and his or her contact details, plus a model letter for you to use or edit to your own preference.
Not sure why you should bother? Read Penny Red's 24 Reasons for 24 Weeks for some absolutely excellent arguments against reducing the abortion time limit.

| new book from lantern press by dr. melanie joy |
[11 May 2008|01:32pm] |
Hey yall,
Lantern Press is relseasing an awesome new book, Strategic Action for Animals by psychologist/activist Melanie Joy. I was involved with the process of this book coming into being so I've gotten the opportunity to see what an important resource this is going to be for anyone who wants to maximize the effectiveness of animal rights organizations, campaigns, and personal advocacy. It's the first book ever written on the subject of effective animal advocacy. Lantern Press is really wonderful, and I encourage everyone (who can) to support them and Melanie Joy. If you can't afford to buy a copy yourself, maybe encourage your library to get it, or pool funds with a local or univerity animal rights group to get a shared copy.
I think you can get it through the Lantern website, and it's currently available for pre-order through Amazon.
Call your local and university libraries, radical bookstore collectives, and your community and university animal rights groups, and tell them about it!
love and revolt, carolyn z
