Straight Men + Football
I've just been watching the 'highlights' of the latest football grand final thingie and this is what I have to wonder. Why do men need porn?? Or, more specifically why do men want porn?? After watching the football highlights it is pretty clear to me that what turns straight men on is not women. What does turn straight men on?

Let's see if you can guess.

Highlight #1: group cuddle betwen three men.

Highlight #2: man jumps onto other man, bear hugs him till they both fall to the ground, men lie on ground together writhing in each other's arms.

Highlight #3: large group of men jumping ecstatically over each other, lots of rubbing against each other and hands running through each other's hair.

Highlight #4: one of the football trophies is a sculpture depicting two men twined in each other's arms and looking deep into each other's eyes (it's so beautiful and loving it brings a tear to my eye).

...well I'm sure you get the picture. So why do straight men want porn of women when they have football??? I just don't get it.

Have you read Pornography: Men Possessing Women by Andrea Dworkin? (This is inbizarre - I defected from elljay for a while - I forget if you have.) In it, she asserts exactly this on the basis that pornography - she analyses several novels of literary porn - is obsessed with penises and manliness. She also asserts that it is extremely unlikely, if not impossible, for men to be truly attracted to women, since they are so obsessed with penises.

I agree with her and you, personally. How can any man be straight in a culture where THE symbol of sexuality is the penis? Even breasts, which are a moderate symbol of sexuality, have much more in common with penises than they do with vulvas and vaginas.

Me, I'm pretty much convinced that the reason men fuck women at all is because they're so warped that they associate ALL dominance/power over another with sexuality. For an example, think about the association of hunting with male virility.

Yes, I have read Pornography, one of the things that I love about her work is that she is under no delusions when it comes to what men actually feel about women.

The conclusion I have come to with all of this is that men love each other and are turned on by each other but that they fuck women so that they do not fuck each other. Then they escape having to have a power struggle between them. Also men love to act out their love for each other by exchanging women, watching porn together etc. I am not actually all that puzzled by the fact that men are all over each other. It makes perfect sense really. I just found the football highlights to be very amusing and wanted to share.

Allecto in her book 'The Whole Womon'
Germain Greer points out that the reason mainstream western womon (the majority) wear less and less clothes, follow more and more rigid diets, and act less intelligent, is to 'get male attention' for it seems that to get male attention womon have to behave in more and more bizzare ways as the men prefer to watch football (sports) and booze and be with their buddies rather than with womon........womon are a low priority ...Greer wonders why womon are so slow in 'getting this'???????

Yeah, I don't get that women can't see that men are far more interestd in each other than in women. It is so bloody obvious. Every movie, every sport, every business deal, every political saga, the games men play together are so saturated in homosocial desire it is very hard to believe that any man has much of an interest in women.

haha! yes. they are far more into each other, politically, emotionally, fitting in to a hierarchy, sexually/affectionately, etc. than in women. it is a really male homosociety.
