Now I’m no computer genius, but I think that the man from Dell who says that the (60% cheaper) AC power adaptors from ebay (for a laptop) are fakes (possible… likely?) and will almost certainly explode and destroy not only my house but many surrounding ones as well, might be telling porky pies?
I mean….AC power adaptors are not a cutting edge technology pioneered by Dell, which nobody else has quite mastered yet…are they?
Am I risking fiery death?

So this week barn & eva are off skiing, leaving me home alone. This is the first time I have ever lived alone! ...Mere hours after they left I locked myself out and paulo had churlishly left his slabkeys in kew. So I went to borrow cleggy's ladder, which was way too short. Then we went to the fire brigade who kindly opened the front door using...a piece of cardboard. Hmm. Better be double locks (and remebering keys) from now on.
The I put up pictures and listened to Peal Jam with alex.

Yo yo,
Does anyone in the vicinity have a saw I can borrow? For cutting MDF into shelf sizes, so not a hacksaw.
And by any chance has anyone seen my black fleece hat or black leather gloves with a criss cross lace on the back.
Bad time to be losing all my warm stuff...
2:02PM
I have been collaborating on a project that will hopefully lead to the development of a new technique for early detection of heart disease in a non invasive manner, which will be quite awesome if it gets to clinical use. Experiments seem to be going well for that, and an abstract has been accepted to the Journal of American College of Cardiology. Next stop THE WORLD!
I think this means I can sleep under my desk for the rest of the day.

Hello,
I am trying to sort out the figures for my paper but I dont understand the words it is saying to me...
I need to convert my figures to .tif files...
"High-resolution TIFF and EPS files are the standard for proper print production; although PowerPoint files can be accepted, they will not yield results as good as TIFF and EPS files. Note: We require that all color TIFF and EPS files be in RGB mode; so disregard our printer’s CMYK mode requirement and use RGB instead. Black-and-white figures should still be grayscale rather than CMYK or RGB. Our printer's guidelines are at " target="_blank">http://cjs.cadmus.com/d
My options when doing the conversion are CMYK, RGB 256 colours, RGB millions of colours and monochrome. The only one which passes the 'image inspector' software is monochrome, which is no good because I need colour.
I DONT UNDERSTAND THIS SHIT! DID I DO GRAPHIC DESIGN?? DID I FUCK!
...so yeah...any ideas? RGB failed because it had 'alpha channels' in it, which are not supported....I don't have photoshop, or know how to work it if I did. Can I remove the alpha channels? What diaster will strike in the absence of alpha channels?

I really wish I had the sense to go to sleep at a sensible time just occasionally. Although I seem to be getting better at functioning without sleep, so really I am just winning more life! …unless I die young due to exhaustion :(
Also! Look! It is totally going to be sunny this weekend! I think I feel mojitos coming on…

In addition to these fascinating nuggets of information, I will share with you the fact that I have just received an email from one of our collaborators in Italy relating to some work I have done for them. I have just spent about a week doing some confocal microscopy work for them (at their request, with not a great deal of notice) in order for them to have some nice images to put on a poster for an upcoming conference. I sent these off, along with a detailed protocol, and this bint has just replied asking me to write a figure legend to go with them! FFS! You have the information, just re-write the protocol I sent you. Chisky fucker. madface.

11:54AM - ....
Super busy...I am full of science! My talk and poster went down pretty well. Martin arrives tommorrow, and I am just investingating the possibility that our hiking trip to Yosemite might be more of a ski trip. We are legally required to carry snow chains and stuff.
The organising is not helped by every single phone number of any releavence being a useless recorded message...

7:28PM - Help me shop...
Is there any chance that somone who is going to steak club/Cafe Royal could pick me up a new pair of fishnets tommorrow? Size large if there is a choice.
The shopping facilities of White City are not up to the job, being as the shops are now all boarded up. Some are also burnt out, and the old furniture shop has a load of squatters living in the window.
I love it round there.
Thanks!

In an impressive display of incompetence it seems that I managed to bring home two rogue black V-necked jumpers, but NOT MY OWN.
One of the ones I have belong's to Mags, so that leaves the 'Nouveau Edition' labelled one looking for a home (sorry Tuv it is pretty girly) and I am after a H & M version. Anyone got that? Want to swap?
