I haven't been gone very long, but it feels like a lifetime.

Hi. I hope all is well with you.
School and work keep me busy, but I'm finding time to slow down.
Last year, I definitely did not see myself where I am today.
I'm just going with the flow.
I miss a lot of you. And I'd really like to see you.
I hope that can happen.
Until next time, take it easy (love nothing).

One year ago, almost to the day, we had fantasy attacks.
truth? i miss you the most.

For my twenty-first birthday and Christmas, my parents bought me a plane ticket to Boston. Hands down, the best trip I've been on. I plan to return in the summer.

I stayed with Omid. He had an air mattress, which I slept on the first night. The second night, Keeko (the mouse that lives in his walls) visited me. After that, he took the air mattress and I took the bed.

I met a girl who lives in his apartment complex. She also goes to Berklee College of Music. She's from Pasadena, and is a really cool girl, except she flaked out on me. Oh, well! Some days, I went out with just Ashley while Omid was in class. I did go to one of his classes, though: Sociology of Black Music. We sat right in front. I took notes, and he called on me a few times. I couldn't answer because I'm not in the class! I didn't know the answers! We listened to music and watched videos. Reallllllly sweeeet class.

We went to this cafe called The Other Side. It serves vegan/raw food, and it's where a lot of the hipsters hang out. Every Tuesday night, they show a movie. We saw La Haine, which is where that quote came from in my previous post.

It was dreary a couple of the days I was there, but overall we had sunshine. When Omid and I first arrived, it was in the 40s. By the time I left, it was in the 20s and low 30s. The wind made it feel even colder (five degrees, OMG). My nose and face burned and I couldn't feel anything I was doing with my hands. COLD. FREEZING. Literally. And we walked everywhere. We took the T a lot, too. That's the underground train. However, Omid and I missed the last ride on one of the nights. We were visiting one of his old friends (Becca - she knows you, Adam Castle). We had to walk three miles home in the freezing cold, but I really liked it. I had my scarf and gloves, as well as my jacket, and we got to see more of Boston.

The top of the Prudential Building offered a 360 degree view of Boston, so Ashley and I did that. It was quite nice. She pointed places out to me. Still, it's a confusing city. I was turned around most of the time. And the people crossing. Even if the light was green for the cars, people would dash out into the crosswalk and the cars would have to yield. I was standing at the corner, waiting for the little man to come up, and people just started crossing! They tended to do that a lot when the arrows were green for cars turning. I just couldn't get used to it.

Also, I'm pretty sure I got a job at the El Segundo Teen Center. That should be sweet. Anyway...

Here are pictures from Boston. I took nearly 400, but I'm not posting all of them. Sorry to all of you who still have dial-up for there are several pictures under the cut.

Don't pahk the cah in the yahd. )

Twin A and Twin B are 3000 miles apart! [Nov. 28th, 2007|03:45 pm]
Have you felt the separation anxiety yet? I have. At night, it's the worst. I read my book and hear one-sided conversations to keep my mind occupied. My big coat is comfortable, and the cold makes scarves and gloves useful. Keeko tried to share a bed with me, but I wasn't down with that. The bums are really nice; they say hi and ask how you're doing. All the LA kids seem to find one another. Musical connections: Logan to Government Center - Brand New, Mass Pike - The Get Up Kids. Organic Cocoa Bumpers and Organic Peanut Butter Panda Puffs. Old buildings are lovely, and the Atlantic Ocean is not far out of reach. It's nearly dark by the time the clock reads 4:00 PM. Walking, walking, walking. Old elevators and staircases that scream haunted. They're not. Grounds covered in leaves, public gardens, and crossing the street even if the hand is up and the light is red. I do miss home, but I like it here. It feels safe.

Heard about the guy who fell off a skyscraper? On his way down past each floor, he kept saying to reassure himself: So far so good ... so far so good ... so far so good. How you fall doesn't matter. It's how you land!
