I have been sentenced to three months of physical therapy, two times a week. At least ... two times a week officially. I am also supposed to do some amount of physical therapy on my own time on the days that I don't actually go to the facility.
The doctor didn't even look at my x-rays, he just made me walk back and forth (on my toes, on my heel, normally, etc.) and bend in all sorts of painful and uncomfortable ways. He said that he thinks that my leg pain and my back pain are unrelated ... he said I have long legs and a growth spurt is what's causing this (I've been 5'4" for the past two years, but he said that sometimes the knees lag behind).
He ordered more x-rays, this time of my spine, hips, and knees, and gave me a prescription for three months worth of flexeril to take twice a day and three weeks of anti-inflammatory stuff to take three times a day.
The good thing is that he said that I shouldn't put too much stock in bed rest and should try to be more active (at least until it starts causing more pain) -- I've been freed! Nevermind that I completely disregarded the order for staying in bed in the first place ...
One part that was both somewhat horrifying and amusing: "... that's just some degeneration of your spine, let's talk about your legs ..." Because you know ... nothing to be concerned about when your spine's degenerating! Huh ...
