so last thursday was bradford's 18th birthday, and also the day we went to see slim cessna's auto club. here's a brief (i'm lazy) account.

the night before, sarah and i made and decorated these awesome cookies for him:

ankh cookie cutters are pretty awesome.

kristen and dave came over to wish brad a happy birthday before we left for the show. as a celebration of his newfound manhood, he showed up at my house wearing this ridiculous contraption:

and began to vigorously cock slap me. (photobucket says this picture is too sexual, so use your imaginations!)

oh, kristen, egyptians did not look like this!

secret agent!

oh, god.

he feels a bit too comfortable at my house.

hey, what time is it?

then, he, shannon, mommy, and i took the path into new york, got onto the subway, realized it was the wrong subway, realized brooklyn is basically cursed as far as subways go, and arrived at the club late for the show.

LUCKILY, NOBODY WAS THERE! it was just us! and band members! the lighting was pretty dramatic, so we took pictures.

die ponie party

die ponie party, take two. note the glowing lock. actually, don't.

dramatic!

then shannon and i spoke with munly (one of the lead singers and also has his own band which is really amazing and oh god he's so cool), who was very stoic except sometimes. like when i told him we were afraid they wouldn't go on, since there were so few people, and he said, "oh, we still might not" and my face dropped and he laughed at me. i bought one of his CDs that i don't already have, and asked if he'd sign it for me. he said he would, and took out a knife and cut the plastic off and then was like, "wait, do you really want me to sign this? i just found myself opening it and felt so presumtuous!" and that was like one of the only times he actually laughed.

"munly's 136th autograph, because everyone wants one."

then this dude went on:

he had music on like, his ipod, and just played that and sang. he had songs like, "rainbow of pain," which is about having your period, and "teen pregnancy (don't do it)," which held a lesson i will take to my grave. dave potosnak, he was basically doing something i can picture you doing, and he was very very funny.

THEN SLIM CESSNA, FINALLY.

it was hard to take pictures, because i was busy dancing and being danced with/into, but i got some:

coolest fucking guitar ever.

i swear to god, he almost fell while being carried back on stage. sidenote: that asian girl was part of a group of very drunk girls with no rhythm who danced like crazy anyway and knew every single word. they inspired bradford, who danced like a madman the whole time.

rule 34.

once again, they were fantastic and once again, it was easily one of the best (if not the best) live shows i've ever seen. we spoke to slim and munly again after the show and thanked them profusely.

then we walked back to the subway at around three am.

mommy slept like the hobo she so is.

ALL-IN-ALL IT WAS AN AMAZING NIGHT AND HERE'S A TL;DR VERSION:

i basically can't stop laughing at this picture.

that's all!

i feel like i should update, although not much has happened. i've mainly been by myself or hanging out with brad, doing dumb things and watching <strike>bad</strike> horror movies. i haven't got any friends anymore, because i never leave my house. i need to start seeing you guys again. you know who you are.

regardless, i guess i'm happier than i have been and i guess i'm doing better than i could be. we don't have enough money to go to england this year, so instead, mommy and i are going to go do hurricain katrina relief work because apparently things are still really fucked down there. also, i'm passing all my classes with grades higher than Ds, and my future is planned out (two years at bergen transfer to montclair live at home). except i'm beginning to consider moving to philidelphia, but apparently i am not considering it that much because i've only discussed it once with one person and that was like two days ago. also, it's a horrifying idea for me, and even though it would be stupidly easy to make the transition, it still isn't here, and there's still something that makes it terrifying.

i guess what i'm trying to say is that when all is said and done, i'm just pretty terrified. of everything. and that's how i've been.

so! bradford and i went to see the tiger lillies wednesday night. we were running a bit late, but after hauling ass to willowbrook, to the bus stop, to the subway (where some guy named "the chad" told us we looked interesting and wanted to know what sweet club we were hitting up), and then around brooklyn (which neither of us ever go to), we finally reached st. anne's warehouse.

the tiger lillies were fantastic. it wasn't even a show, it was a performance (they had an intermission). they played almost all new songs which were all really good. the bassist played the saw on more than one occaision! they also played "killer," much to the delight of bradford and i. then a lot of other shit happened which will be under the cut but read it because wow.

hayyyyy!

HAAAAAAAYYYYY! (half of) the pony party meets the tiger lillies! they also signed our play bills and were generally nice people!

so, we left the theater and hauled ass back through brooklyn, to the subway, to the port authority, only to find out that our bus stopped running at eleven. it was currently 11:30. oh. so we went to mcdonalds to think about our situation. went back to port athority. the next bus back to willowbrook? 8 in the morning. i called my mom around one in the morning, but she was obviously sleeping and couldn't get the phone in time. i left a message, since i was using a payphone and she wouldn't be able to call back. (neither brad nor i had a cell.) so. we try to find a spot in port athority to chill...for seven hours. unfortunately, an unnecessarily surly guard kicked us out. so we were on the street with basically nowhere to go. luckily, we found a crevice to sit in!

there we are. very, very tired.

okay, so people in new york are really nice. a bunch of people stopped and asked if we were okay and if we needed anything. some scottish guy was clearly struggling with what he could possibly do for us, and ended up offering to take us out for drinks. being underage, we declined, to which he offered to get us food or money. we didn't need either of those things, but it was really kind nonetheless. another man asked for a light, and then proceeded to tell us about a movie he had seen three times and how amazing it is. out of nowhere.

regardless, we started getting cold. we needed a blanket. we walked to this giant drugstore who's name i forget, and had to choose between a $20 christmas tree skirt or a box of glad bags.

clearly the correct choice.

once the glad bags arrived it was a fucking SLUMBER PARTY in our crevice. we made sleeping bags and ponchos and it actually really worked, i was a lot warmer.

french. stoned. generally unflattering.

i ended up falling asleep to the sweet sounds of the city, and i think eventually brad did too. we slept for maybe an hour and a half? nobody bothered us, which was cool. but then it started to rain, so we had to run back to port athority and explain our situation so the man would let us back in. he did.

SO TIRED.

port athority: our final resting place.

we slept for a while until they started opening doors and it got cold. we were up at maybe fiveish. walked around for a bit and then went to a modern bagel-esque sort of place called au bon pain. clearly a french s&m club.

their coffee tasted like sewage. i'm not even joking.

we stayed there for...a really long time, and left around 7:20 (time for school!). found some statues:

eventually caught our bus, got back to jersey, went to my house, called my mom who cried because she thought we were dead. apparently my message never went through and she had the cops looking for us. i felt really bad. she wasn't mad though, because what else could we have done? so yeah, i changed my clothes and brad drove me to school. on the way there, some douchebag rearended us. way to top off a totally awesome night.

i'm sure one day, we'll look back and realize how funny it all was. it was all pretty surreal. but hey, at least i got a taste of what my future will be like!

tonight i went to see deadboy and the elephant men at maxwell's. mommy and i were like an hour early so we sat on the steps outside maxwell's, and this guy and girl sit next to us. we started talking to them, and the guy is like, "so who are you here to see?" and we're like, "deadboy and the elephant men!" and he's like, "oh us too! actually, i'm the bassist and she's the drummer." it was pretty cool. the drummer had to go do something, but we talked to the bassist for about an hour. he was exceptionally well versed in music, and had excellent taste. he recommented a few bands which i plan on checking out. we also discussed the army and ways of getting out of it, and decided that you can tell them you're gay, but they'll have a dude named frankie who will make you prove it. after the show we talked a bit to the lead singer, who is really nice and kind of shy. and the bassist found us to see if we enjoyed the show. we did.

okay, this was the opening band. they were called boy/girl and they were PAINFULLY BAD. like, they were so bad i actually had to take a video for posterity. you couldn't hear anything he was singing, it sounded like he was singing in japanese.

drummer for deadboy. she was amazing to watch.

lead singer. i couldn't get one of the bassist.

all in all it was a good night, i got a shirt and stole a poster off the wall. i also got hit on by drunk men who called me "dollface," and man that was the creepiest moment of the night.

MURDER BY DEATH NEXT WEEK!
