    Bento #24
I can't actually figure out what I was thinking with this bento.

It appears as if Señor Onigiri is leading a band of, yes, octodogs into battle. I would question my sanity... but enough people do that for me anyway.

Top tier: veggie gyoza, crab & cucumber maki, a piece of overcooked tamagoyaki.

Bottom tier: tuna & mayo onigiri, octodogs, grape tomatoes.

    Under the lid: Instant Miso.

D: Its been a while since I have been able to post... its been super hectic around here but things should be in order enough that I can return to lj. I missed many of you! I wasnt able to do the picture thing for a while but here is the most recent as well as a few old ones.

    First "real" bento
Hey guys, long-time lurker, first time poster! This is my first "real" bento lunch; I say that only because up until now I'd had to make bento type lunches in old take-out containers. But I got my first bento in the mail last week from Jlist, and got to use it for the first time today for my work lunch.

Left side: Sushi rolls with teriyaki tofu, cucumber, avocado, and spicy sauce (packed in a pig, but I couldn't help squeezing some on before taking the photo)
Right side: hardboiled egg with wasabi mayo, also in a pig, & a kiwi fruit.

quick recipe for the sushi & sauces for anyone interested )

I've got a bunch of ideas for more bentos, but I don't work again until the 29th so I have to wait till then to try them out. ;^_^

Lastly, I have a quick question: does anyone know of any good recipe books that may or may not be bento specific that can be used for lunches? I looked on Amazon.com for books on Appetizers & Finger foods, but I don't know how many of them are (a) semi-healthy, (b) relatively easy to make, or (c) aren't ultra fancy or cost-prohibitive. I'm open to pretty much anything, not just Japanese-specific. Thanks in advance!

    profuse bleeding
Ugh. So about a week ago, I was scratching my scalp absentmindedly when I came upon what I thought was a scalp zit. I picked at it, without thinking much about what I was doing. The next morning, I looked at my pillowcase and saw a bunch of small dots of blood. I reached up to my scalp and felt a big, scabby spot with a bunch of crusty blood around it. I figured I'd just done a number on the zit. Well, I managed to scratch it open several times since then, each time resulting in a huge torrent of blood coming out of it. I scared the crap out my coworkers when I walked by with a bloody paper towel held against my head. Turns out I've been scraping open a small hemangioma (aka a vascular malformation) on my scalp over and over again, akin to scraping a mole open. Hella gross. It feels so nasty that I can't helping poking at it, even though I know better.

4th post, first attempt at home-made jelly
bacon and egg fried rice with some steamed sugar snap peas and green beans and a soy sauce piggy.

also half a clementine, half a small banana, some blueberries, some dried strawberries, a melon candy and a little jelly made with some raspberry and rose cordial i found in the deli and powdered geletine (very happy with how these turned out - which is good as now have about 20 stored in the freezer!).

    Quick update on mah life
I finished my summer reading, and as a consequence, am now suffering of a huge sunburn. D: Owie.
(The sound is still the best place to read, ever.)

I pulled an all-nighter last night to fix my sleep schedule. Yeah, I'm that lazy. xD

The other night was a full moon. It was beautiful. I was on the dock, the waves lapping at the shore, the crickets chirping and the breeze animating my hair, ever so slightly. The moon was huge and bright and the stars shone brighter than the lights of the island across the sound. I had a handsome man beside me and all was right with the world... Of course, the man beside me was my gay stepbrother. So there was no romance for this romantic night. Quite a shame, actually, we both agreed we wished we both had a significant other to spend the moment with. xD

Tyler just left NC yesterday, so I'm a bit lonely... real brothers are no fun

Gah, battery is almost dead, bye!.

    Bento # 381
Back to boring. So I spruced it up a little with my adorable little Puki and her equally adorable little bento box ;)
Admittedly, this isn't much to look at without the doll... so hopefully it'll taste better than it looks. It's mostly leftovers from today's dinner, which hubby made, so I'm not completely sure what's in the pasta thing. Tasted great though :)

    Bento # 381
    Bento # 381

    Bentos for today!
I actually packed these last night and put them in the fridge, which seemed to work pretty well. Well, the only complaints I heard were 1, the 5 yr old isn't used to the school lunch time yet, and didn't have time to eat everything, so she ate the rest when she got home; 2, the 9 yr old was still hungry when she finished her lunch, and bought an apple pie in the cafeteria.
20 August Bentos for the Kidlets
I can't remember which lj poster it was that had the idea to make Hawaiian Sweet Roll sandwiches and squish them into the Bento box, but Thank You, whoever you are! :D These are peanut butter and strawberry jelly. They also have multi-coloured goldfish, a string cheese cut in half, and an animal cup with raisins and chocolate sunflower seeds. (Thanks to [info]feverlights for the cute cups!)
The bottom tier is carrots, a sauce container with 3-cheese ranch dip, and some black and green grapes.
They all have Pocky in their lids, too :D
I have also posted about today's Adventures in Bento Shopping on my blog. I am SO excited that I actually found some Bento stuff! Yay!!

    The kinda guy

So Sunday night I met this guy for just another one of my hookups over the last week. We met taht day online and hit it off really well so I went to spend the night at his place and of course have some "fun'". Well the sex was definitly good, but there is also this really great connection there too.

He says he loves me, but I don't believe it. Not that I think he's lying outright, I just don't belive you can fall in love with someone that fast. But.... I went and surprised him yesterday by picking him up from his place in Riverview, (which is 30 miles away from moms house), and I brought him up here to Tampa. I introduced him to mom, Kim, and Tenchi. It went pretty well with mom, she even cooked us dinner. Kim and Tenchi it went really well with. Kim pulled me to the side near the end and said "He's a good guy Jean, I just worry about that love already thing." I told her I definitly agreed. Then Kim told him what she thought of him and gave him the "hurt her your dead" speech (hehee I love Kim she's such an awsome friend. protective too. :)  ) and told him if he really loves me, to just prove it. That is a good thing for him btw. :P Kim and I think a lot alike but she's also got the distance from the situation emotionally wise that she can see what I'm blind to sometimes. And I do the same for her! :P

So after being with Kim at Wally World!, we headed to pick up Tenchi  from work. And they hit it off almost immediatly. It was really awsome. We took Tenchi on some errands and then we headed back down to Riverview to take him home. I really meant to just drop him off, but we ended up cuddling in the back seat of my car... and then there was unholy amazing sex in the back seat.. and then we cuddled. I ended up not leaving until nearly 4:30am! Which means I didn't get home until 5:30am. I was sooooo tired. He wanted me to stay the night and I kinda did too, but I needed to be home to do some stuffs.

    Bento #12 - Orange Chicken

bento12-Orange Chicken, originally uploaded by angel_peach.

    Bento #12
    Bottom tier:
    Orange Chicken
    Champagne grapes
    Tibetan potstickers
    Grape tomatoes
    Top tier:
    Umeboshi on rice
    kiwi
    cucumber

The Tibetan potstickers were given to me by a coworker; she made them from scratch with her mom and sister. They're filled with mashed potato, cilantro and green onions. She said it was too complicated to write down the recipe, but I'm invited to come to her house the next time her family makes them!

The orange chicken is one of my favorites from Trader Joe's. I set some aside from yesterday's dinner for this bento.

    Bento 326&327: leftovers

The saga of the small bento photo, in which Muffin borrowed the digital camera over the weekend and therefore we are likely to never ever find it again. In the meantime, iPhone does not take excellent photos, and thus we will camoflage them by making them tiny. Thai beef, cucumber, grapes, rice and furikake.

Leftover roast chicken with Thai peanut sauce, cous cous, cucumber/tomato salad with fresh mozarella. Grapes on the side. I'm trying to do the locavore thing but after many months not getting nearly enough fruit, thus the grapes.
