Benedict Cumberbatch goes shirtless in a deleted shower scene from his film Star Trek Into Darkness that was revealed when J.J. Abrams made an appearance on Conan on Wednesday (May 22).

The scene was cut from the film but was revealed after J.J. was accused of sexism for showing Alice Eve in her lingerie during the movie, but not showing male skin.

“I’m not defending it, but then there’s a picture of Kirk (Chris Pine) who is not wearing all his clothes,” J.J. said, while showing a shirtless photo of Chris.

DO YOU WISH the Benedict Cumberbatch shower scene made the final cut?

'Welcome back Sharon!' Simon Cowell hails Osbourne's X Factor return

SIMON Cowell hailed the return of Sharon Osbourne to the X Factor today as the new look judging line-up was officially revealed. Sharon will sit on the singing show's panel alongside last year's judges Nicole Scherzinger, Gary Barlow and her old pal Louis Walsh. Show boss Simon Cowell said of the news today: "Three words I never thought I'd say.... Welcome back Sharon!"

While former judge Sharon, 60, who quit the show in 2007, declared: “I couldn’t be happier about coming back for the 10th anniversary of X Factor. "I can’t wait to give Gary Barlow a big hug, sit next to the gorgeous Nicole, and of course throw water on dear Louis. Yay!”

It has also been revealed that wannabes will have to tackle TWO sets of auditions. First the hopefuls will face the judges in an intimate audition room. And if they receive three or more yeses, they will then go on to perform for the panel again in an arena.

Only if they prove they can impress an audience will they then make it through to the next round. Speaking about returning for a second series, Nicole Scherzinger, who won the competition with her act James Arthur last year, said: “I had so much fun and such a great experience on the show last year – it far exceeded all my expectations! I always give 110 per cent to all I do and I put everything else on hold to focus on X Factor and supporting my Scherzy boys. This year, now that I’ve worked out doing my new music and the show together, I am so excited to get back to the UK, my second home, and get stuck into X Factor 2013!”

Louis, who is the only judge who has appeared on all nine previous series, added: “I'm back with a vengeance! Ten years on and I'm just as thrilled to be involved in the best show on TV and even more delighted to be re-united with original judge Sharon Osbourne. Let the fun and games commence!”

Dermot O'Leary will also return to host the ITV1 show. The judges’ auditions will start on June 4 in Glasgow before visiting Birmingham, Manchester, London and Cardiff. This will be followed by the second stage of judges’ arena auditions in July.

Steven Spielberg will executive produce a new live action "Halo" television series based on the popular video games.

Spielberg, 66, appeared via video chat at the Microsoft One next-generation console launch Tuesday, noting he is a longtime gamer who began playing in the 1970s era of "Pong."

Microsoft unveiled the next-generation entertainment console that the company hopes will replace traditional cable company set-top boxes. It offers a combination of games, television, movies and other entertainment and is expected to go on sale later this year.

"For me, the 'Halo' universe is an amazing opportunity to be at the intersection where technology and storytelling meet," Spielberg said.

There are only a few days left of the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, but some of the biggest films are still yet to come. Tomorrow brings Alexander Payne's "Nebraska," while Saturday includes both Roman Polanski's "Venus In Fur" and Jim Jarmusch's "Only Lovers Left Alive." And as for Friday? Well, Friday brings the return of one of Cannes' favorite filmmakers, James Gray, back with his first film since 2008's "Two Lovers" with "The Immigrant."

In the meantime, Gray's given his first quotes about the film in the press notes.

Ke$ha likes to push the envelope, and we’d been warned that she drinks her own pee on the MTV documentary series “My Crazy Beautiful Life.”

On Tuesday’s episode, it happened.

Check out the video below, if you’re curious.

The Parents Television Council watchdog group has condemned the stunt; in a statement, its president commented: ”If given the opportunity, I can’t imagine that parents would want to pay for a cable network that airs an episode of a pop star drinking her own urine.”

Judging by the footage, it looks like Ke$ha may not be so eager to make this a regular habit.

The scandal that has rocked Toronto and made headlines around the world has now reached late night: Mayor Rob Ford was mocked by comedy hosts on Tuesday amid allegations that he was caught on video smoking crack cocaine.

Both Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at Toronto’s leader.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ford was played by Parks & Recreation actor Jim O’Heir. O’Heir imitates Ford’s voice and says he “looks forward to clearing this up.”

Stewart, meanwhile, addressed deputy mayor Doug Holday suggestion that it was easy to fake a video. He showed images of a motion-capture suit covered with ping pong balls and joked that this was “some James Cameron [expletive].”

“By the way, if you were going to alter videos, why wouldn’t you start with these two,” Stewart continued, before showing clips of Ford falling down while attempting to play football, and Ford walking into a camera at city hall.

The Daily Show:

Other than saying that the video is 'ridiculous', Ford still refuses to comment on the scandal.

Ford has also been removed from his position of head football coach at Don Bosco high school.

The Gawker fundraiser is still collecting donations. As of right now, the fund is at $125,665.00 USD.

Oh, what could have been. My first official “assignment” from WhatCulture is here. Today I’ll be picking out which actors’/actresses’ careers were “ruined” (i.e. unceremoniously stalled and/or tainted, either temporarily or permanently) by 10 legendary/infamous directors, the films that contributed to their demise, and (if I can find out) where they are now.

Bear in mind that when I say “ruined,” I don’t mean that they stopped working. But I do mean that their careers took directions that, for one reason or another, could have gone or did go a completely different direction than what they originally intended or hoped for. Bear in mind also that this list is in no particular order, and I will undoubtedly have left some of your personal favorites out, and you may not agree with some of my choices. But feel more than free to include them in the comments section below. So, without further ado…

Today I was a substitute in a small, special education (Autistic) class.  In addition to me, there were 3-4 aides in the classroom all day.

One aide had a REALLY bad attitude towards me but, more importantly, the students.  In particular, I didn't agree with how she was treating one of the little girls in the class. TWICE, she pushed/shoved this little girl.  Once, the little girl was attempting to hug her, and the aide pushed her back, using more force than I thought was necessary.  A second time, we were in the Occupational Therapy room and the aide was on the OT swing (I have no idea why) and REFUSED to let the little girl on the swing.  When the girl approached her, the aide put her hand flat against the little girl's chest and shoved her backwards.  Both times I didn't feel like the little girl was in danger of being injured (I definitely would have said something if I had), but I felt like the aide was using more force than necessary on an 8-9 year old, Autistic little girl.  Mind you, this little girl did NOT exhibit any violent behaviors at all today, but I'm not sure if she has had violent outbursts in the past.

The same aide was also speaking VERY harshly to this little girl and the other students.  Her tone of voice was very angry and frustrated.  It's hard to explain but, as a certified teacher, it's definitely NOT how I would EVER speak to my students, especially students who have learning/emotional disabilities.

So, would you have said anything to this teacher or to the staff at the school?  I didn't say anything, but was very uncomfortable by how she was treating the students.

With "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men" approaching the end of their runs, fans of "The Walking Dead" may be wondering about the future of AMC's other tentpole drama. Thankfully, AMC thinks the walkers have legs.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, AMC's CEO Josh Sapan revealed that there's no end in sight for the powerhouse zombie drama, which brought in 12.4 million viewers for its Season 3 finale.

Speaking at the Barclays Global Technology, Media and Telecommunications Conference on Wednesday, Sapan said, “We hope that zombies live forever and we’ve just begun to find out what the post-apocalyptic world is like, so that we’ll be sitting here at the Barclays conference in 2022 discussing the fact that 'Walking Dead' is not over.”

As for the pending finales for "Breaking Bad" and "Mad Men," Sapan said, “We’ll all suffer from some minor heartbreak when these shows come to a natural close ... Like some of the best shows in history, there will be a mantle that exists sort of virtually in people’s minds, and in the world maybe they’ll actually put a statue somewhere. We will bring them to a close with the people who created them at the right time.”

Jenelle Evans wants to set the record straight.

After getting arrested on Monday for failing to attend her court hearing on time, the Teen Mom 2 star explained on her blog yesterday what exactly happened that morning (in a way that only Jenelle can illustrate), and it basically all started by planning a trip to visit her older brother in Hickory, N.C., which is six hours away from Jenelle's home.

"My mom tells me 'check your court dates before we leave.' I did and I told her all my court dates and didn't realize I had ONE which was yesterday's court date," she wrote.

"Well as you all know, or pay attention to my Twitter, I have been waking up at 5am every morning. So yesterday morning I wake up and was up for hours bored waiting on my mom, Jace, and my brother to wake up," Evans continued.

"Then at 9am I get a text from my lawyer telling me 'Make sure your at court at 9:30am.' As soon as I seem that text my heart dropped out of my ass! I responded with, 'Do I have to be there?' Because sometimes I don't have to be there, well he responded with 'They are holding the case open until you get here.'"

As you can probably imagine, Jenelle's mother, Barbara, was less than pleased when she heard the news.

"I got yelled at the whole way back 6 hours home. Then half way home to court, my lawyer calls and tell me 'Well they closed court early at 1pm and they said they are charging you with a FTA and $1000 secure bond.' I'm like 'Are you kidding me?!!!!!! Ill get to court before 4pm when it's REALLY over with.'"

The reality star was advised to "hand myself in, bond out, then they will drop my charges," and was in and out of jail within two hours.

Comedian says music video is an inaccurate representation of young adulthood

Taylor Swift enjoyed a massive birthday bash in her music video for Red single "22," and Conan O'Brien would like to have a word with her. The country-pop darling basks poolside, chills on the beach with her friends, and parties in a swank pad in the clip, but Conan is put off by the false portrayals of young adulthood.

"Taylor Swift is great . . . but I know what it's like to be 22. I don't think that that's an accurate representation of what it's like to be 22," Conan says. He calls out Swift for her decked-out apartment, and continues "I didn't see any ramen noodles in that video. That's all you're eating when you're 22."

Conan later laments Swift's supposed big night out, making an intentionally out-of-touch St. Elmo's Fire reference. As his grievances continue, they also turn personal. "When you're 22, you don't even go outside. There's nowhere to go, there's no one to talk to, you don't even have a girlfriend," says Conan. "That's what it's like for everybody when they're 22. Everybody."

He might be one of the most famous stars on the planet, but according to Niall
Horan's father, Bobby, the Irish hunk is still the same "young fella" he was
before fame.

Horan was just 16 when he first auditioned for the X Factor in 2010 and found
worldwide fame with the biggest boyband on the planet One Direction. But his dad
Bobby has revealed he hasn't changed one bit despite the whirlwind three years
he's been through.

“The good thing is that he’s still the same young fella that left our house in
Mullingar that day in 2010," he told the Irish Herald.

Last week, Niall along with the rest of the lads Harry, Louis, Liam and Zayn,
announced their first stadium tour for next year called the Where We Are Tour,
which will take them all over the world next year.

One of the dates will be Dublin's Croke Stadium, something Bobby claims will be
an emotional homecoming for the star.

If Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories wasn’t enough of an adrenaline rush for you, you may not have to wait much longer to get some sweatier sonics from the French duo. Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo revealed that they’re already working on remixes to their RAM material. ”We’re working on some mixes ourselves,” Bangalter said. “So, yes, there will probably be Daft Punk mixes of Daft Punk. Usually, we never mix ourselves, that’s something we feel we’re interested in doing this time.”

The first track they’re tackling will be a “Get Lucky” remix, slated for a June release. We’re praying the release coincides with the Robots using their Robot skills to destroy every single goddamned copy of that unsanctioned Pitbull version of the song.

Evanna Lynch, who plays Luna Lovegood in four Harry Potter films, spoke at Western Washington University on Wednesday, May 16.

untitled 2

Lynch talked about how her character Luna inspired her.

Lynch said she hoped audience members would not be held back by their fears after seeing her presentation.

“There were many nights while studying for my final exams, when I’d get so resentful of my cat’s inactivity I would shut her out in the rain for an hour to settle the score,” she said jokingly.

As much as she wants to bask in the laziness of being a cat, Lynch wants everyone to take inspiration from Luna Lovegood and make the most of their lives.

Tomorrow is the highly-anticipated memorial tribute for Slayer guitarst Jeff Hanneman, who died earlier this month due to liver failure.

The celebration was mildly dampened when the Westboro Baptist Church confirmed they would be protesting across the street from the memorial. We were amongst the many who assumed this is a bad recipe for a riot, as Slayer fans aren't exactly subtle. Moments ago, Slayer posted the following message, advising fans to ignore the protesters. Here's the band's message:

Want to really piss off the Westboro Baptist Church at Jeff's Memorial Celebration? Do exactly what Slayer members and family are going to do – totally ignore them. They don't exist. And then come inside and celebrate Jeff's life with us.

Makes perfect sense to us! Metal Injection has dispatched Johnny Orlando, Jr. to head down to the memorial and file a full report. We'll have video of that early next week.

Set to turn 65 later this month, Fleetwood Mac singer reflects on a long career

tumblr_mn82wnskiN1rex3mmo1_500

Fleetwood Mac song-stress Stevie Nicks is tantalizing fans with a bold idea: a one-woman show.

Could something along the lines of My Name is Stevie (in the vein of Barbra Streisand's My Name is Barbra) or Stevie With an I-E (in the spirit of Liza Minnelli's Liza With a Z) be in the tarot cards?

The raspy-voiced veteran says it's an idea her pal Dave Stewart has been trying to get her to embrace.

She says Stewart's plan would involve massive video screens revealing images from Nicks's storied life. But the Landslide crooner is laughing off the idea, noting: "I'm not Barbra Streisand."

Bill Hader sat down with Howard Stern today to talk about leaving the comedy series. At first the interview is mainly about Hader's departure but after Stern compliments Justin Timberlake's hosting ability, Hader starts to open up about other hosts. He manages to make fun of Justin Bieber, Ashton Kutcher, Tom Brady, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Hader briefly discussed how weird he felt the following day after his last show. Stern expressed his confidence in the talented Hader's future and even complimented Justin Timberlake, too.

Now talking about the "Suit & Tie" singer, Hader said, "He's great...Also, guy doesn't show up with anybody. It's just him." Bill then compares Timberlake to the other gigantic pop star named Justin.

He explained, "Justin Bieber showed up with like 20 guys. And every time, backstage is a very small constructed place, he had a guy holding a slice of pizza, a guy holding a Diet Coke. You were trying to fight around all these people to get dressed. Timberlake, it was just him. He's a real class act, that guy."

Bill Hader also took this interview opportunity to talk about other Saturday Night Live hosts that were not so great. He said, "Ashton Kutcher tried to have sex with that llama we keep backstage and Tom Brady used one of Lorne's suits as toilet paper, even though we bought him the fancy stuff, and Gwyneth Paltrow, well, she was the worst of all. She gave the writers the idea for The Californians. We hated it, too."

Transporting, imaginative, beloved—all three words describe animated films, which, at their best, give live-action flicks a run for their money. But how is the experience different for the actors, besides the fact that they can be on the job in their pj's? I like to know how things work, so I called one of my favorite stars, Josh Hutcherson, to get the scoop on exactly how he made Epic, this summer's hottest animated film.

"It's so weird seeing someone else's face with my words," says Josh, who lent his voice to Nod, the adventure feature's hero. "Nod is a warrior for the Leafmen, and their job is to protect Mother Nature and defend her majesty the Queen, played by Beyoncé." Along with Mrs. Carter, the film's star-studded cast includes Amanda Seyfried, Jason Sudeikis, Aziz Ansari, Pitbull, and Steven Tyler. But much to my surprise, Josh says he never interacted with any of them in person. "It's all remote! I met Amanda for the first time doing interviews," he says with a laugh. "We're supposed to be playing love interests in the movie, so that's a funny situation."

Story edited for TeenVogue.com. Pick up the complete interview with Josh Hutcherson in the June/July issue of Teen Vogue, on newsstands May 21.

Singer filled in for ailing Aretha Franklin

20130521-janelle-monae-600x-1369147021

Many huge mainstream artists have been backed in concert by full orchestral accompaniment. Jay-Z mixed hip-hop with strings at Carnegie Hall last spring, and Phish's Trey Anastasio noodled on his guitar alongside several metropolitan city orchestras on a cross-country tour a few months prior. However, few have slid so comfortably into such a hit-or-miss experiment as Janelle Monáe did on Monday night in Chicago with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The futuristic, funky R&B singer – who is set to drop her second album, The Electric Lady, this fall – was filling in for Aretha Franklin at the League of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association's annual Corporate Night. Due to illness, Franklin was forced to back out of Monday night's benefit show, as well as another orchestra-assisted gig last week in San Francisco.

The first thing I said to Rooney Mara was so wrong, it turned out right.

It’s the Sunday midpoint of the Cannes Film Festival, and I’ve just sat down in a subdivided hotel ballroom across from Mara and Casey Affleck, costars of Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, the moody, Malick-esque criminal lovers odyssey from young American writer-director David Lowery. The stunning Saints, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, had reemerged the evening before in a streamlined new cut, as the big Saturday-night screening of the Cannes sidebar Critic’s Week. A massive crowd had huddled in one of the worst downpours in recent Cannes memory in hopes of getting into one of the festival’s smallest venues to see the film. Most of those people were turned away; those who did get in mobbed around the stars before the movie with cell phones aloft; the amateur paparazzi attack continued after the movie, amid a standing ovation. My summary of the evening/attempt at an Affleck/Mara icebreaker went like this: “The screening last night was so intense.”
