Ugh [14 Dec 2006|06:00pm] [ mood | crappy ] [ music | none ] Early this morning, the flower shop I work at got broken into. The Nut shop two doors down, and the ice cream shop next door also was broken into by the same person. Luckily, we have an alarm, and the police responded rather quickly and sent out a dog to find who did it. I love dogs. anyway, So they caught this person, and put him in custody. Oh, they caught him because he'd stolen a role of pennies from us. Yeah, all he took was a role of pennies and 6 or 7 bucks worth of quarters. Wooopeee. Anyway, that's how the dog was able to track him down, and it's also how they figured out he was the guy we were looking for. So, anyway, he was in custody, and he eventually admitted to atleast 25 different robberies. He had previously been arrested either 9 times, or for nine different robberies, and was out on bail because the jail was over crowded. So now channel 8 is doing this big story on how the jails are over crowded and people who should be in jail are roaming the streets committing more crimes. We haven't seen the guy, but supposedly he was "a large light skinned african american male." That's pretty much all we know, which got me to thinking something, that I've been thinkng about recently. It's about the whole racism, stereotype thing. All races are discriminated and all races have their own stereotypes. No race is more of a victim than any other, it just depends on the area in which you are. For example, if you're an african american female in her early 20's with 2 small children and she's in a white neighborhood where these people are judging her and making comments like "She's single and on welfare," then it's the same if a 20 year old white person was walking down the street with 2 small kids in a black neighborhood. I mean, the stereotype isn't going to be the same, but the initial reactions are the same about both people. I don't mean to be offensive, and I'm in no way intending on being that way. I was just thinking about it after watching an episode of Tyra. It was about racism and discrimination between races and within your own race. The show made a very good point, and to me, it was pretty accurate. Anyway, I'm done rambling. 6 comments|post comment

[13 Dec 2006|11:19am] BAH. I hate having to figure out all this doctor stuff. The OB/Gyn I'm going to now doesn't accept medicaid as a primary insurance, but it does as a secondary. I'm going to have medicaid as secondary insurance because of the baby, but when we get married It's going to become my primary insurance. SO, in order for me to still be seen by a doctor, I have to switch OB/Gyn offices. So we called the office that's in the hospital, and we've waited too long to switch, so now I'm gonna have to go through this whole process of being accepted and everything, which can take weeks. So, we could take the option and not get married until after she's born. Buuuuut. If we do that, as soon as she's born, medicaid will make him pay for all of her doctor bills. So, it's in the best interest for us financially to jsut get married. It's also in the best interest for me to just stay on my dads insurance and at the same doctors office because it's not guaranteed they'll accept me since i'm already over half way through my pregnancy. This is incredibly way too stressful. My mom is all "Don't stress about it," but I can't help it. What the hell am I supposed to do? Yeah, anyway...so thst's my problem of the day. I'm just going to try and relax and forget about it for the rest of the day. 5 comments|post comment
