Charlie Hunnam on Crimson Peak Set [Apr. 16th, 2014|05:04 pm]

[Tags|, , , , , ]

Fans know him best as the tattooed bad-boy biker Jackson 'Jax' Teller on FX's Sons of Anarchy.

But Charlie Hunnam looked every bit the dapper Englishman suited up on the Ontario set of his new film Crimson Peak Thursday. The British thespian spent his 34th birthday shooting his role as Dr. Alan McMichael in the horror film set in 19th century Cumbria. Female fans young and old flocked around the clean-shaven 'man of mayhem' and he kindly obliged them with autographs and pictures.

In Crimson Peak, Charlie ditches his Harley-Davidson and reunites with his Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro.

Mia Wasikowska heads up the gothic romance as an author called Edith Cushing, who discovers her charming new husband Sir Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) is not who he appears to be.

'[Crimson Peak] has moments that are very visceral, physical violence,' the Gravity director (fucking Daily Fail keeps referring to Del Toro as the Gravity director) told Screen Rant last year. 'You’re in this sort of sedate romance and then there is this brutal moment where you’re like, “Whoa!” And it has a lot of kinky moments.'

Coincidentally, Newcastle-born Hunnam is a graduate of Cumbria College of Art and Design, where he studied film and acting, but in Crimson Peak, Canada doubles for rural Northern England, and shooting on Thursday took place at a crumbling mansion.

The big-screen ghost story - due out October 16, 2015 - also features Jessica Chastain.

Walking Dead creator says Jon Hamm would make a 'perfect' villain [Apr. 16th, 2014|08:00 pm]

[Tags|, ]

How would Don Draper fare during a zombie apocalypse? AMC's The Walking Dead has featured several memorable villains, but Negan — a sadistic villain with an extended arc in the comic books on which the TV show is based — will require a particularly strong actor, and series creator Robert Kirkman recently said he'd love to have the Mad Men star in the role.

More "news" on the possible Jay Z and Beyoncé Tour [Apr. 16th, 2014|07:55 pm]

[Tags|, , ]

Beyonce and Jay Z surprised festival-goers at Coachella last weekend with a few unannounced appearances. But music’s most famous couple have a bigger trick up their sleeves: a summer stadium run.

The married superstars will launch their first joint tour in June, a source close to the production told The Times.

Page Six first broke news of a trek that is slated to hit 20 cities in the U.S., including a possible Fourth of July appearance in New York City. Expected to be named, aptly, the Mr. and Mrs. Carter Tour, according to our source, the U.S. leg will launch June 13 in Atlanta and wrap Aug. 6 in San Francisco. The tour is expected to have a stop at the Rose Bowl, tentatively set for Aug. 3 date. That show would be just days before Eminem and Rihanna’s highly anticipated Monster Tour sets up a two-night stand in Pasadena. The two then plan on taking the show to Europe, with multiple shows scheduled in Paris this September, a source said.

Despite a number of joint hits documenting their love over the past dozen or so years -- “Crazy In Love,” “'03 Bonnie & Clyde,” and “Drunk In Love,” to name the biggest -- and countless performances together, the pair have yet to embark on a joint tour.

The Carters recently wrapped separate tours. Jay’s Magna Carter World Tour ended in January after a stadium run with collaborator Justin Timberlake. Beyonce’s extensive Mrs. Carter Show -- she dropped her top-secret surprise self-titled album toward the end of her U.S. run -- closed in March and ranks as one of the top-grossing tours of all time.

No official announcement has been made. Mr. Carter was busy Wednesday announcing an L.A. edition of his Made In America festival. Reps for the two didn’t return a request for comment.

The Movie that Keeps on Slaying: Captain America: The Winter Soldier Tops $500 Million Worldwide [Apr. 16th, 2014|07:53 pm]

Overseas, Disney's Marvel superhero sequel significantly outperforms the original

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” topped the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office.

Disney's Marvel superhero sequel, starring Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, hit the milestone Tuesday, according to Box Office Mojo. It now sits at $502.2 million, with $167 domestic and $335.2 million — two-thirds of its gross — coming from overseas.

The sequel's global total is far ahead of the original film, “Captain America: The First Avenger,” which brought in $370 million globally in 2011. Internationally, “First Avenger” only amassed $193 million. “Winter Soldier” has taken in more than $80 million from China alone.

“Winter Soldier” also has benefited from the momentum provided by Disney and Marvel's 2012 blockbuster, “The Avengers,” which ranks as the third-highest grossing film ever at the worldwide box office. Two other Marvel sequels have seen a similar boost thanks: “Iron Man 3” and “Thor: The Dark World.” Both sequels saw major increases from the films that preceded them in the wake of Marvel's successful superhero mash-up.

Made in America Festival taking place in Philly and LA this year [Apr. 16th, 2014|07:43 pm]

[Tags|, , , ]

Budweiser's Made in America Festival is set to return to Philadelphia on Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30-31.

The two-day festival, which is curated by Jay Z, has yet to release its line-up, but tickets are currently on sale for the Philadelphia show for $99.50 at This year, the festival will also be held in Los Angeles. Tickets for the California festival are on sale for $125.

Funds raised from the festivals will go to benefit United Ways in the area, with the Philadelphia festival benefiting the United Way of Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, as well as the United Way of Lancaster County. The Los Angeles show will help the United Way of Greater Los Angeles.

Last year's Made in America Festival featured performances by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Nine Inch Nails, Beyonce and Phoenix. Wiz Khalifa serenaded Amber Rose in front of a live audience and HAIM's Este got hit in the face with a shoe (but was okay).

I like that this is becoming an east coast Lollapalooza in terms of large acts. I'm assuming Jay/Bey will have a joint set like what Jay did with Kanye/G.O.O.D. Music two summers ago rather than a full tour.  I'm going either way cause I know Outkast should attend.

[Tags|, , ]

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert took to Twitter to address that latest round of rumors claiming that the two country stars are splitting up.

"Me and @mirandalambert are reading about our separation," the country crooner wrote on his social media page.

"S--t! I hope I get all the liquor in the divorce!!!"

Lambert then chimed in by tweeting, "AND the imaginary baby?!"

But the jokes didn't end there…

A fan asked the recently slimmed-down blonde, "Don't you guys separate every 6 months, and have a baby every 3 months?"

"Yes it's very exhausting!!" Lambert responded.
