Obama talking |
] |
Went to some super exclusive douchey bar(the eldridge) tonight for a model party. Saw Donald Trump, the lead actor(chuck) in the tv show "Chuck," tons of hot models, and talked to Wayne from "models.com"
Pretty sweet night considering I dont like the bar thing that much.

An email I received today from the National Association of Social Workers...
Dear NASW Ohio Chapter Members, Yesterday evening the Republican candidate for Vice President Sarah Palin and former presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani gave speeches at the Republican National Convention that demeaned those who serve in community organizing positions. In an attempt to belittle Senator Barack Obama Sarah Palin said, "I guess a small-town mayor is sort of like a 'community organizer,' except that you have actual responsibilities." Rudy Giuliani said "On the other hand, you have a resume from a gifted man with an Ivy League education. He worked as a community organizer. What? He worked -- I said -- I said, OK, OK, maybe this is the first problem on the resume." We are outraged by their statements and their complete lack of respect for those who work in community organizing positions. Thousands of social workers serve as community organizers across the country; working tirelessly to assist communities in need. Does the potential Vice President of the United States think that these social workers do not have responsibilities? I am not sure where we would be as a nation without the work of community organizers. Jane Addams who is often considered as the mother of social work was herself a community organizer in Chicago. The speeches last night made a mockery of community organizing and by doing so made a mockery of the social work profession. As social workers we cannot let this go unnoticed. We cannot elect politicians that think that community organizing is something to laugh about. Therefore, the Ohio Chapter will be sending a press release on this issue to all of Ohio's media outlets, the Ohio Democratic Party, the Ohio Republican Party, and Senators Obama's and McCain's campaigns. If you serve in a community organizing position please reply to this e-mail as soon as possible. We want to include in the press release how many of our members serve as community organizers, what responsibilities they have, and their response to Sarah Palin's and Giuliani's comments. We hope that you will keep Sarah Palin's and Rudy Giuliani's comments in mind when voting this November. Sincerely, NASW Ohio Chapter Staff

Mesrine / P.L.F. - split 7"
The bubonic plague has returned to this generation. Social structure has become irrevocably changed and pandemonium has ensued. The carrier this time was not rats. No. This time the virus has been carried off ships on this morbid slab of vinyl, infecting millions. The MESRINE strain comes directly from Canada. Inhabiting the neutral country for more than a decade. It has been spreading across the US and Europe. Brutal blasting blows to anyone who has encountered this. The newer strain is P.L.F.. Equally as volatile, P.L.F. delivers instant nausea to anyone infected. Delivers grinding headaches and will thrash one's body leaving bruises all over. People infected with either should immediately buy this record and continue doses for as long as they have symptoms. All is not lost. Killer artwork by Matt Gauck. All copies on color vinyl, TLAL exclusive, DIY and cheap grindcore, super awesome. Order: To Live A Lie Webstore Hear: Mesrine - One Time Killer PLF - Massacred In Totality The Record:

Ya see our waitress over there?
She wants to be an actress. She's got that air of entitlement mixed with desperation. She doesn't have the looks though. She doesn't even have the talent, but, like an old donkey, she's been at it so long she's not fit to try to do anything else. She lies to her mom. She's embarrassed to tell her about losing the job for the big Palmolive commercial, but fingers crossed, she's got an audition for Blockbuster Videos. She had an abortion once. She still cries about it sometimes even though she saved that thing from an agonizing life of eating left over mashed potatoes and watching its mom lose jobs like Palmolive commercials. She's got about three ovarian eggs left.
In addition to being less interesting and much less attractive, you're so much more pathetic than she is.

[04 Sep 2008|10:44am] |
in the spirit of my husbands post i would like to volunteer the things i can do or am interested in helping with, because i to want to enjoy my fair city:
event planning- you want a show? a community picnic? a march for the chinchillas in africa? small neighborhood gatherings community picnics! attend shows (both music and art) support local preexisting establishments- the polk theatre, mitchells, molly's (even though they're over priced)...
and there is probably a lot more i would get excited about.
disclaimer: only positive and productive comments allowed please.

You know and I know that for the past year or so Lakeland has taken a nose-dive into lameness. Shows are scarce, and the ones that happen are rarely worth going to (poorly organized/bad sound/etc.). Even this forum has devolved into some kind of craigslist type thing.
I think maybe it's time we get proactive. I know I'm willing to do things to make this city a fun place to live. Maybe you guys can think of something as well. Since a handful of us still read this thing, perhaps we could all post a list of things we could do and, I don't know, maybe organize something. I'll start.
play a show help organize a show run sound help new bands record a demo show up to an event tell others
now give it a try. we just might have lists that fit together to complete the puzzle.

i guess being away from everyone and everything that i am used to makes me realize how thankful i am for the few people i have that truly reciprocate my unconditional love. i am such a hard person to handle sometimes; i don't think i can help that. i am crying right now and i'm not sure why. i really try not to do that much anymore, and i haven't in a while, but here i am, just crying. i am just really, really full of love for the handful of people that i do have, and it makes me really happy and really sad at the same time. i don't know what is wrong with me;;;

I am currently listening to Sarah Palin's speech at the RNC. I am still waiting for us to tell us something substantial. I am very liberal and have no thoughts of voting for McCain / Palin but feel like it is my duty as an informed voter to hear what she has to say. Regarding the buzz about her daughter being pregnant, as a social worker at a teen crisis and runaway shelter, pregnant teenagers are a pretty common part of my life. However, I personally have a problem with the abstinence-only sex education policy that Bush has in place. I wrote papers about this in grad school. It simply doesn't work. Teenagers are having sex. They need to know how to keep themselves safe. I find it ironic that the daughter of a conservative governor who supports this policy is now pregnant.
