so here i am reading about ferrets for fun, and i notice that nearly all websites that say anything about health or caring for yourself or someone else, instead of telling you what to do if case a or case b arise tell you to hurry and take yourself or your loved one to the doctor. now, this all makes sense and is fine and dandy IF there is actually a problem. for instance, is it really necessary to take your pet to the vet so that the vet can tell you that the reason why your little pal is scratching himself is because he has fleas? really? you couldn't figure that out yourself? i realize that these websites do not want to be at fault if some sort of harm is caused due to negligence on a pet owners part etc. etc. but come on.. regular ferret behavior IS scratching, and regular ferret owner behavior would be to check whether your ferret has fleas, i don't see where the need to take your ferret to a vet to be told that either a) your ferret is fine or b) your ferret has fleas comes in. is this not something an owner of a pet should be able to figure out themselves? responsible pet owners don't just take their pets to the vet, responsible pet owners usually know what is going on with their pet. anyway, my ferret is so cool.
