He was in someone's yard down the road, just hanging out in a tree...I guess they put their hand out and he hopped on. They happened to live next to Hayley and she knew he was ours. I feel so much better now. Mrs. Nelson, my advisor, got us "Senior Survival" bags full of different things that symbolizes senior year. I left it in my car, though... I'll write it out tomorrow. It was very thoughtful and for some reason, made me slightly more optimistic towards this year. I guess we'll see. turn off the sun.

Harry Potter Contemporary Debate/Argumentative Essay Topic [29 Aug 2008|11:43am] harry_potter [kiki_renee89] [ mood | cold ] Hello! jw if anyone has any thoughts on a Harry Potter "Professional" Debate topic. It's for a argumentative essay. We're allowed to choose our own topic - but it has to relate to our degree in some way. I'm at uni studying a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education. The teacher said that i could do Harry Potter (not that i want to "do" Harry Potter - EW! No way! *hehe*), but i'm not sure what to focus on... What the teacher said: has to be a *professional* debate - perhaps from your perspective as a teacher, from a literacy perspective, or a children's literature perspective. Go to scholar.google.com and see what they're saying about it. (I just found an abstract there for an article called "Heteronormative Heroism and Queering the School Story in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter Series" - unfortunately we don't have access to the whole article though!) If anyone has any thoughts, i'd appreciate anything! :D Thanks! 17 turn off the sun.

I got stopped by this site. It's so funny, they wrap up "Star Wars" in 30 seconds with drawings of bunnies... and the voices are just funny. I don't know if this has been posted before, but I found it highly entertaining (check out their other movies too). Star Wars - in 30 seconds, re-enacted by bunnies. Enjoy! Im just glad she created the whole HP universe. She is one of my heroes. Last night Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was on t.v and I wish they would have captured the emotional part of when lily and James came out of Lord Voldemorts wand. When i was reading it, i cried. But the movie doesnt capture just how special seeing James and Lily is to Harry. I just wish people would read Harry Potter before seeing the movies, because they just miss out on so much.. 10 turn off the sun.

Pairing: Harry/Sirius, but it doesn't have to be slash if you don't want it to be, it works both ways. Music: Arms Of An Angel - Sarah McLaughlin. Warnings: Spoilers if you haven't seen HP5 and slash if you squint. Summary: Again there is no plot in this one just angsty!Harry thinking back on the memory of Sirius to some really sad and delicate music by Sarah McLaughlin. It follows the typical pattern with the sepia video portraying Harry's memories and the colour video being the present. I think it works quite well, but you'll have to let me know what you think. :) Disclaimer: Song belongs to Sarah McLaughlin, clips to WB, characters & storyline to JKR. Other: I don't know whether I intended this to necessarily be slash or just the memory of Sirius to Harry as a friend and godfather. Nevertheless it can be perceived as slash, for example I purposely didn't show the picture of the OOTP in the train station so that what Sirius gives Harry can be left to the imagination of the individual. random [26 Aug 2008|12:14pm] harry_potter [broadwaygirl101] i was in borders the other day, and i was scanning the children/young adult section (bc i wander lol) and came across the charlie bone book series. i've seen these books several times at bookstores and target and stuff, and each time i can't help but think of HP, mainly bc of the titles (charlie bone and the time twister, charlie bone and the castle of mirrors, charlie bone and the hidden king - i googled it lol) and the kid on the cover bears a great resemblance to harry potter himself. according to google, he also goes to a special academy and 'can hear people in photographs and paintings talk'. there are also other magical elements and stuff like that, i got bored and didn't feel like reading all the details lol. has anyone read these books? i would like to know if they really *are* a great deal like HP. just out of curiosity, bc to me they seem like a kind of ripoff 26 turn off the sun.
