HI LJ.

Watch this space. I feel like I should make a proper "Iron Man 3 was amazing and I saw it 3 times in one week let me tell you my feelings" post, but I think what's worth being said has... been said. Come talk to me about that thing at the end though, you know the one. *_*

I'm seeing Star Trek Into Darkness tonight which I am not really excited to see tbh, for reasons I won't get into (having purchased tickets 2 months ago) but I get to hang out with people I like and maybe I will enjoy it? Or something.

I am plotting my next wincon  ensemble and it's a pain in the butt, because I have... ideas?? Nothing concrete though. I have An Idea but probably doesn't fit whatever theme, which, okay, not like you HAVE to do the theme. Spoiler: there will be something metallic involved. That's vague enough for every idea actually.

Also, on a serious note, part of me wants to make a big "this is an update on my life!" if you don't follow me on Tumblr or Twitter, but honestly I hate making those (because I feel like I'm bothering people) so... probably not. That is not an invite to say it's not bothering; I just get weird phases of not wanting to post private stuff, and here's a phase! Whoo.

right. COME TALK TO ME ABOUT THE THING.

The time has come, my friends, to talk of many things: snippets of suffering, and the giveaway of four advance copies of Untold!

Every generation suffers in Untold, I like to think…

The May SnippetCollapse )

So what must one do to win all this suffering?

null

(Also, the font of the cover was based on the polkadots on my dress in this picture. Check skirt and font. True story!)

So. Four books. Four challenges. No waiting.

1. Art Challenge. Drawing, manipped photo, tumblr gif with hilarious words on, anything Unspoken-related visual and artistic, and I shall give the most artistic artiste a prize!

2. Words Challenge. Song, poem, story: anything Unspoken-related under a thousand words. We wordsmiths must stick together.

3. Picture Challenge. Take a picture of yourself reading Unspoken somewhere–the weirder somewhere it is, the better. ;)

4. Surprise Me. Everyone tends to be better at this than me, so if you think up something that doesn’t fit in the three categories, by all means–hit me! (Street/library posters. Pictures of people mildly concussed by Unspoken. Cosplay as the unicorn princess. Anything. Hit me! (DO NOT LITERALLY HIT ME.))

I will post the books to anywhere in the world. The contest will end at the end of this beauteous month of May. Just put links to your entries in the comments to this blog post, or its mirror on livejournal. I am looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

Wow, a full 24 hours before leaving for my flight for New Hampshire, I am already all packed for MistiCon?

This must be a record for me!

I am bringing two suitcases: one weighs 47 lbs and contains all of the art I am bringing to sell at the MistiCon craft fair. The other is a carry on and carries all of my clothes for the Con. That one only weighs about 15 lbs. In terms of content, it weighs less than my handbag, which weighs 15 lbs.

So! I will be at MistiCon between May 9th and May 12th (leaving early on May 12th, way before the Masquerade). Who is going and where will you be hanging out? I haven't done much research on which panels and events I will be attending, but a few things are for certain!

  • drinkingcocoa's presentations

  • Fashion Show

  • Snarry Suite

  • Friday night, 6-9 p.m. Corridor of Charmed Crafts! Be there and see me and my table of arts and stuffs. I will be bringing my limited edition art prints, pouches, and these snazzy new laptop sleeves!

And two new pouch designs!

Let me know where you'll be and I would love to meet you! Anyone know if there'll be a Sherlock or Avengers suite?

Also, come have dinner with me! I'll have a car! This is the first time I am renting a car by myself (and first time driving outside of California, actually! I'm assured that driving in New Hampshire is *way* easier than driving in Los Angeles). I'll be yelping places to eat. I'm determined to take care of myself and have at least one proper meal a day at this Con.

So, I'm taking a red eye to Newark, New Jersey at 11:20 p.m. tomorrow evening. I have already booked the Super Shuttle (damn, $25 plus tip) that will pick me up at my apartment at 8:20 p.m. I will be arriving at Manchester Airport at 9:20 a.m. That will be a very sleepless night for me.

Unfortunately, I am leaving early. I could not take Monday off from work, so the latest flight I could get was 5:20 p.m. from Manchester Airport. That means I am leaving MistiCon at around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday (missing the Masquerade Ball completely) to drive to Manchester Airport, return the car, and get on my flight. That also means I will be returning to Orange County at 10 p.m., but just in time for Mother's Day! I will be going out for a very late night dinner with my mom, dad, and sister, and then they will drop me off in Los Angeles.

In the meantime, I have arranged for my friend and coworker to come by my apartment once every day to feed Alice, the cat. I'm growing very fond of her, and I'm leaning towards adopting her. But, she makes a mess in my bathroom with the litter, and it's something I'm told I should get used to. Sigh.

Anyway, those of you who are going to MistiCon, see you soon! Message me and let me know where you will be, so we can meet and hang out!

Those of you who are not going to MistiCon, I will be taking pictures and sharing them after I finish with my Dublin-Edinburgh-London photo diary. And, there will be a brief hiatus until I return on May 12th.
