music: lady gaga just dance?

Here's a Sony Vaio Pocket VGF-AP1 (20GB)

Released in 2004, drooled upon 2005, lusted for it since 2006, and now finally got one in 2008...

For £13.50 off ebay! Talk about bargain, truly!
The unit itself has got heavy dents, scratches, looks like a very well-used unit. As this is a HD-based player, you can actually hear it spinning powering up whenever you switch it on. The G-Sense takes a while to get used to, but once you do, it's a quite a brilliant idea, all these before touchscreen stuff came into picture. Battery life seems to be holding out well for a few hours of use after a full charge.
Transferring music is easy. Since I still have my HD3, I have Sonicstage installed, and it is familiar ground for me. Sound quality is just amazing. Something that I have come to expect from Sony. And this was in 2004! Shame that they didn't go on and develop a full-fledged video player from VAIO pocket. I'm still waiting for their large capacity player that does just music playing. No need all those web-browsing shit, thank you very much.
Now that's crossed from the list, next up, a VAIO wireless digital streaming speaker!
Ideally to be placed in the bathroom, hehe.

1-2 Step
Nov. 17th, 2008 | 11:57 pm

Tadah! In a simple 1-2-3 step. Fry some heavily marinated-meat, and then toss everything into a rice cooker with washed uncooked rice and 20 odd minutes later, you get a pseudo-claypot rice dish.

I've just been Android-ed
Nov. 17th, 2008 | 11:42 pm

And gladly so. Amazing, swift Android-run phone. About time too. Anything, but an iPhone for me, please! Admittedly the web browsing experience is not as good as the Apple-patented multi touch feature, but the experience is still very very good, very desktop-like experience. Being such a Google-centric person, this phone is just perfect. Gmail, Gtalk, G-everything are all synced here. Thanks to unlimited 3G plan, now can do all these at work, like imeem, etc.
Also the baby is not photogenic at all. Looks so much better in person than in photos.
Get Android-ed today!

Robyn @ Astoria
Jun. 13th, 2008 | 02:33 pm
Usually, it can quite a task to get into Central London especially on a Sunday evening! Travel time to central is about 1hr minus the waiting having to sit through 20 bloody stations before reaching can be quite a put off. But since I did get the ticket I might as well just drag meself out. At least the weather was basking hot. And it's always nice to go out without the jacket and stuff.
Doors were scheduled to open at 7pm, so I planned to arrive at about 7.45pm, knowing well there are some random opening acts. I arrived at about 8pm, and some supporting act was still playing. Good stuff actually, but I just wanted to see Robyn. They kept playing and playing and 3 more songs later, they were finally off the stage. Had to wait about 30 minutes before it went dark, and finally appear. Nice cutesy animations at the back. Not bad for a gig I must say.

She started with all the upbeat songs from her current album, which I must say is an absolute gem. It is quite rare to find an album that you love every single song on it. Which is why I agreed to go even on a bloody Sunday evening!
The crowd was pretty alright, but there was this elder guy who probably needs to act his age who stood right behind me. We paid money to see Robyn sing, but not you. He was like singing all the time and the worst part is that he doesn't even know the full lyrics, but only the last word of the line. It was a running-your-nails-on-the-chalkboard experience! I decided I had enough, so I turned back, gave him a cock stare and walk away.
That aside, the experience was pretty amazing! She truly knows how to work the crowd and setlist was better than I had expected. She even threw in some old tracks like Do you know what it takes, as well as Show Me Love. How unfortch she didn't do Do You Really Want Me.
But having to hear tracks live from album was sheer pleasure. I would so recommend her self-titled album. Get Robyn!

Summer's here!
Jun. 2nd, 2008 | 03:39 pm

After being dormant the whole of Winter and Spring, I've got a few events on my to-go list, which includes Robyn at Astoria, Kylie at the O2, the British Motorshow, and then the Maddy concert somewhere in the next few months. I've just booked on Robyn for this Sunday, for about £18 incl. delivery. Top price!

Stop, slow down, take a deep breath

mood:
tired
While a holiday getaway would be ideal (and probably much needed), I would think that is just a temporary measure. Let's face it, after days off work without worrying about the work and stress of life, you get back to the grind again after that quick getaway, and then it all starts all over again. Life has become such routine. Monotonous. It's especially true when I'm back here in London.

Then, it has got me thinking, all the rat race, this nagging daily worry of not being able to achieve what have been set out, and all these expectations, how pointless are they? Sure, these expectations do drive one to propel further, and you need money to survive, but why are we putting so much excessive pressure and stress on the one thing that we'll ever have once, our body and mind? How far should we push ourselves? Is there a limit we can see before we "break"?
There are times when I would feel this immense pressure, then to think back, how fantastic those college days were back then. Carefree and stress-free (except for maybe a final project or two) but they are so much more enjoyable. Felt that even driving my good old trusty Satria was actually quite a sheer driving pleasure. I was even happier with my crappy sub RM2000 pay at college. It seems that as we grow older, things become more complex, more stressful, and much more at stake. Is this all the part and parcel of growing old? So much so that we become so consumed in the race, we totally lost track of things. Or to even stop for a moment, to live your life?
I think I need a serious case of detox, destress, or whatever you call it. Perhaps, I would need to explore meditation as an option.

The BMW X6

BMW X6 (Wikipedia)
The BMW X6 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV released for sale in the second quarter of 2008 by German automaker BMW. The X6 combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (bold styling, dramatic sloping roof).

Santa came early this year!

Sony has finally waking up by discarding their ridiculous propriety stuff, like their music transfer / management tool Sonicstage, which has been the main pain in the ass for users. While it was certainly cumbersome, I have actually learn to live with it, and didn’t create any issues for me with my old Walkman. Sony always create ass-kicking hardware year after year, but they are hampered by the software bit of it. But now that’s history. Now we can finally drag and drop music and that is what they should’ve done from the start. However they didn’t include any video encoding software for videos, but there is an option to purchase it. WTF right. And then I realised that their USB cable is also propierty one…I mean why can’t they just use the normal mini USB? I don’t wanna be carrying around so many cables everywhere!

Other than that, this little nifty gadget is quite sexy. It has a very sturdy build for a small device, and the sound produced is a definitely a notch above the rest. I have tested the itouch or whatever you call it but the music reproduction is so much inferior to this. This also sounded so much better than my NW-HD3 too, which has served me well. Another huge plus is the bundled earphones; it’s the new MDR-EX082. Bass is thumping heavy and clear at the acoustics. No need to buy extra earphones, as you would with iTouch. Now I can finally load it up with videos for my 10 hour journeys back and forth London. Yay!
Now, IF only they up the capacity to 80GB, or better 160GB. No I don’t want a web browser with my Walkman, just Video and Audio would do, thanks.

Wake me up, before you go go!
Mar. 31st, 2008 | 03:58 pm
I am never a huge fan of coffee, but for some reason I always have this weird fascination towards coffee machines. Some coffee machines are really sleek and sexy, and they just calls out to you to grab them and head to the checkout. I would do that in a snap if not for the exorbitant prices. So usually, the sensible side of me will then start a heated argument with the other not-so-sensible side of me whether I should get one. I will then have to walk away for I know for a fact after purchasing it and using it for few times, it will then lie there one day collecting dust more than dispensing coffee.

However, I stumbled upon this sexy WMF 1 Coffee Maker which originally cost £95, but have been slashed for MANY times all the way down to £19! I thought “what a bargain”! This maker has won the prestigious red dot design award and you can clearly see why. This is definitely a style-over-substance kinda application but I'm so loving it. It comes in 4 different colors and I must say they all look fabulous. It only makes 1 cup of coffee and uses the pod system. Pods are not cheap either, but I feel like getting this as a décor piece more than a real coffee maker!
Decisions decisions…

A dream home
Mar. 11th, 2008 | 12:29 am

I have, in the past, been awed by the works by the guys at Seksan Design. I stumbled across their website by chance and truly loved the work they had done, particularly this refurbishing project on a rather old property in PJ Sect 16. I loved how the old and modern elements blend together, creating a space that I would truly dream of. Seksan had a feature on the papers yesterday, this time with another refurbishment project on a Sec17 70s home. They are asking for RM4.2 for that prop. A Sec17 property with about 6000sf land is currently going for about RM1.8m. Now if only I could guess the cost of such project but if they do manage to achieve their asking price, they are in for huge profits!
While snooping through their website, I have also just realised that Seksan was responsible for the landscaping of Hijauan Kiara. Much have been said about their amazing landscaping of this project, which has in a way helped generate much interest in the project. Bukit Kiara Properties have also been milking every cent out of the money they spent on the landscaping of the project by promoting how amazing the landscaping is (the first granite pool in Mont' Kiara, RM200,000 Royal Dutch turf, first to have Spa-island - whatever that means, German-imported Dedon garden furniture, etc) in every way possible. But the question remains, did they miss out in the most important element in any project - the internal finishing of the units? Time will tell, so far the project has been VP-ed and am eagerly awaiting for owners feedback on the finishing.
