Uh.
Am I the only special snowflake wherein LJ's update thinger has no formatting on the page? :\

This is hilarious. Read it!

So, Hulu Desktop is pretty sweet. Set it on high quality, subscribe to things... fullscreen that *works* with two monitors without having it on low-quality pop-out and maximized. w00t w00t.

So the TV tuner in my computer that I never use? It has a use!! There is a radio in port on it, so I hooked up this antenna we got with a free stereo that doesn't work to it... went to start search, typed in 'radio' and crossed my fingers-- and yep! Up comes the radio program for the tuner!

Sweeeeet. It's silly-lookin though. See:

I find it amusing that my phone cannot spell "Aww" but instead tries to spell "Byzantine" for me. WTF? In what situation would I need to use Byzantine over text?

So, I was talking to a stranger on Omegle, and after inadvertently telling him that he had lost the game, we discussed the following:

You: I lose the game all the time. Or at least I keep being told so. :\
Stranger: Yeah... Same with me.
Stranger: Though, if you think about it...
Stranger: There is no game.
You: Nope.
Stranger: Because there is no Rule 34 of the game.
You: ....
You: I don't know.
Stranger: Thus is said, if there is no Rule 34 of something, it does not exist.
You: There might be.
You: Although...
You: Huh.
You: I guess that is a very valid point.
Stranger: It's a boggler, huh?

THERE IS NO GAME. There is no rule 34 of the game, so there is no game. Amazing.

I really, sincerely hope I do not continue getting sick. I can't afford the attendance points if I lose my voice again, which I normally do with chest colds. I've currently got a cough and when I do cough, my throat hurts like it does when I'm on the downswing. Fantastic.

Absolutely brilliant. Sigh.

http://www.sciforums.com/showthread.php?t=6958 Take a look at those opinions!

We start out with:

"I just wanted to know how everyone else views the XP operating system? Ive used it alot in my business and I hate it. It seems slow and sluggish. It is not very secure either I understand? ..." What? Slow and sluggish? Not secure? Hating it? Sounds familiar.

"I have 20o0 pro and it works fine." Right... and some people now have XP pro and that works fine, too.

"It has crap for compatibility with older programs (example, those created to run on 9x)
It's not secure at all. Forget about hackers breaking in,  (try doing a search in your local intranet zone, or viewing a movie on Windows Media player 7.0 or greater - or heck, getting a microbrain DVD decoder)"

"You're right, it ISN'T secure. Microsoft released it with huge gaping holes in it, so if you want to run it, get used to clicking the "critical updates" icon a lot and running a firewall. "

"Windows XP blows. I reinstalled Win 98 SE" Windows Vista blows...I reinstalled XP.

"Windows XP is a terrible operating system, even by Microsoft's standards. "

"Compatibility is the worst i've seen in Windows (except for NT 4 or lower). "

"My experiance with XP compatibility was not good at all. I frequently encountered those pleasant "Your program crashed, but Microsoft wants to help! So send this bug report!" dialogs. "

"XP is not the most secure system built by microsoft. I'm not sure where you heard that. It's obvious you haven't gone to Gibson Research Corporation's website. Go to www.grc.com. I suggest you read everything throughly, especially the part where Steve Gibson speaks with Microcrap's security guy! Even he admits it's the least secure OS microcrap ever put out! Go figure!" More about security here.

"Don't have it, never will." Never upgrading...hmmmmm... sounds familiar :)

"Anyone who has XP and the system is sluggish, it is because you must have AT LEAST 256 MBs of RAM to run it... 512 would be better. Otherwise you better start removing programs from your system tray and disabling some background proggies." ONOEZ VISTA REQUIRES AT LEAST 512MB OF RAM AND IS HAPPIER WITH 2GB THIS IS SO NEW.

"<$.02>Everyone who said that XP Pro kicks ass, I agree with completely. I've also heard countless stories of it being "unstable" or "slow as hell," "piece of shit OS," etc...
Point is, I've been using XP Pro since the final build was released (always gotta have the pre-release, I mean, why wait?) and it's done a world of good for my PC...and it's DAMN STABLE too! I don't care what anyone else says, as far as I'm concerned, if it's unstable, or slow, then it's either your hardware, software settings, or lack of proper maintenence for your PC. " Sounds awful familiar... Oh everyone said Vista sucked and is slow and unstable and a POS but I've never had any problems and I think it's better!!1

And on another site: (http://carthage.cementhorizon.com/archives/000149.html)

"i harbour a seep total burning hatred for XP too the lowest darkest essence of my being, ME might of been a little spiteful biatch but at least it was willing to run my programs on it."

"XP SUCKS or for that matter every version has sucked. .... WORK GROUPS 3.1 RAN BETTER. "

" XP is a virus, Microsoft (as of 1981) is a virus."

"I won't recognize my video card (Nvidia 5), it won't let me load any other OS. i have tried so hard to live w/o windows but everything (all the programs I own) are for windows (95-me)."

"media player no longer runss, yahoo messenger is buggered up, internet explorer is throwing tantrums, im now into that stage between thinking about taking a sledge hammer to the computer and other things just to get back at it, and actually doing it, but i cant blame my hardware, its xp, xp! XP!!!!!!!"

"XP/Microshit blows. I've never seen a more unstable OS, I mean this piece of shit crashes on nearly everything. I've talked to Microshit and everytime they're answers are CONFLICTING DRIVERS. These freezes happen on nearly three totally different system configurations, its not fucking conflicting drivers. Fuck Microshit."

http://www.weebls-stuff.com/peepls/157/windows-xp-sucks - A flash thingy about how much XP sucks

Sigh. So, those of you who think that the Vista launch was a nightmare and that the XP launch was full of roses and happy times, please...remember! Just because it's been several years longer than normal between OS launches doesn't mean that Vista had a particularly bad launch. It's just been too long for most of us to remember it.

I got to see Mayme today, wheee. I missed her! Good to hear how everyone's doing and swap girl-talk... we went to Abhiruchi for lunch, which was marvelous as always.

Somewhat belatedly: OMGZ SNOW!!1

Some people find Eeyore’s gloomy outlook charming. Others prefer the bouncy enthusiasm of Tigger. Who would you rather be trapped in an elevator with: Eeyore or Tigger?

Eeyore all the way.

At least Eeyore would stand there and mope instead of making you feel extra-claustrophobic.

So who has Twitter?

I rickrolled a customer today.

That is all.

So I'm supposed to attend Jury Duty on the 22nd. I should probably reread my paperwork, if I can find it.. I think it's at work. I don't know. Hahaha... Yay preparedness!

I got to see the duckies at work today. There are some really pretty ones that don't look like the rest. I got some pictures of them but I don't know if they're good enough to actually see the cuties well.

People keep quitting-- it's sad. I like my job for the people, not necessarily for what I do. Although telling grown adults who act like spoiled children "No" and having the power to enforce it is pretty awesome.

Speaking of which, Machine Gun Mary (customer) called me again. She's 70-something and is batshit insane. She... is... well. She's insane. Brendan, you can back me up on this one, now. You've heard her.

The world loves me today!!! You know how much I like DUCKIES, right? Well, LOOK:

DUCKIES!!! Bonus: If you go to www.yahoo.com and watch the animation, then mouse-over, you see the ducky-trail like above!! Soo cute.

That said, happy birthday to Brendan!

I hope that, in this coming presidential election, that I have the ability to- no, the honor of voting for a candidate I believe in, not against the one that worries me the most.

Yay music video that I like. :D )

Current Music: Alizée - Mademoiselle Juliette

I turn 20 tomorrow. Bobby also has the day off with me. Yay! It's been a while since we had a day off together, since we don't share our off-days anymore.

So, I decided the other day that I'm for Obama. I wanted to back Hillary, but after researching both her and Obama, I really can't.

Also, a nice thing I found on Obama's website:

We are a nation of many faiths and of those with no faith at all. The religious practices of all must be respected.

"Given the increasing diversity of America's population, the dangers of sectarianism have never been greater. Whatever we once were, we are no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers." - Call to Renewal Keynote Address
