The Schneiders are here. We went to downtown St. Charles today for lunch and to walk around. It's such a ridiculous place. I feel like I should have something profound to say about all the middle-aged women that purchase the crap that is sold there, but all I can say is that it's sad. Everytime I go there I wonder how those places can stay in business and then I see a group of stupid giggly women and remember.

Louis & Clark's was good though. I had a fried eggplant stack sandwich and fries. The eggplant was surprisingly good. David and I are probably going to go to QT, White Castle, and Dairy Queen after dinner because he has none of those things in Orlando. So that could be fun.

This morning I was sitting in the Barnes & Noble cafe and there were two Italian women (possibly a mother & daughter) talking to each other. A few minutes later, I looked up and realized that they were both weeping. I've no idea why because they were exclusively speaking Italian.
But it disturbed me for some reason. Seeing people cry in public, not for joy but for sorrow, is something that I am not used to. It bothers me at funerals too. I think it may be a reflection on middle-class suburban society though. The fear of wearing your real emotions on your sleeve.. it's everywhere.

Hey, how are you?

Good, I'm good.
Prom was alright. The actual prom wasn't that great because it was pretty much just a banquet. I mean, I knew that's all it was going to be, but even so. Kind of boring. The after-party was good though. Near the end I put on LCD Soundsystem and made people dance to it. It lasted four songs and then they put some stupid Napoleon Dynamite song on. Whatevs. It was fun, regardless. I do enjoy not having a date. Maybe next year I'll ask someone though. We'll see. Who knows what my situation will be in a year.

Only need to write a couple more pages on my history paper. It's getting along alright, I guess. I'm sure it'll get a B. Not that I need anything higher. That class has been such a blow off this semester. I got a 102 and a 95 on the last two tests after just reading the chapter the night before we took them.

We have a track meet Thursday afternoon and then Friday is the play and Saturday is another track meet. Tomorrow I'm going to miss the second half of the day for a Chemistry field trip to the crime forensics lab down the street, so that'll be good. But.. man, busy week. The church rummage sale is on Saturday, but I won't be able to help because of track.

Oh, and next week is Joplin, so I'll be gone Wednesday through late Saturday.

GAH, BUSY WEEK. I still have to go buy shoes at some point.

I'm burning LCD Soundsystem for the after-party and I'm gonna bring my iPod in case we can use that. PARTY PARTY PARTY.
I stayed home from school yesterday and today. I had a head cold and something was/is wrong with my stomach. My cough has mostly gone away though. I'll be at school again tomorrow.. just in time for the track meet. I'm running the 800, 4x800, and 4x400. And triple jumping. Although I may try to get out of one or two of the runs since I've been sick.

Today was spent sleeping and learning Civilization IV. I played Civ III a lot a few years back and Civ IV is pretty similar. It's like a huge, really deep board game. It takes so long to finish a game. I played a game on one of the easier settings and smoked the bots.

Last Saturday I bought the Jeff Tweedy DVD. Sunken Treasure. It's pretty good. The ending is beautiful. It's a shot through the windshield of a vehicle at night and "California Stars" is playing. I think they may be driving down the Golden Gate Bridge, actually.

I've got to get off this computer. It's going to kill me.

I'm done with my English project. I presented today. I think it went well.

I really liked learning about language. I mean, it's a pretty amazing thing. The whole "you can express ideas that have never before been voiced" is my favorite part. Without it, we'd never learn anything or grow.

Other than that, my life is fairly bland. I applied at the library again and I think I have a chance at the job. So, I hope that works out. Track started. It's going alright.. I'm in terrible shape.. and apparently we have a "meet" on Thursday. It's going to be a waste of time, as it's at Tower Grove, which is a stupid little half track. Oh, well.

Oh, I'm reading Stranger In a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein. Old science fiction is so different from the new stuff. It's much more escapist and less lit-snob. Sometimes refreshing, sometimes bland and cliché. Heinlein was such a crazy guy.
