BioPolitically located somewhere between Matthew Barney and Barney Frank. Frequently full of myself. Sometimes I can listen to others long enough to understand what they are saying. Partial and partisan, I often permit myself orgies of vitriolic sarcasm and vicious rhetoric. I know this is a failing and I am trying to move beyond mere excess.
I live anonymously in downtown Chicago, one of the few places I feel safe. As a member of the Blue team I fear the Red team, and believe they are relentless in their goal of Jesusland Uber Alles. In the Midwest I feel safe from the excesses of the coasts; in the city I feel safe from the prepackaged conformity of suburban sprawl; downtown, lodged in an indifferent and unassuming warehouse building, I feel safe from the agents of the Reds - never will they find me here, surrounded by so many people and protected by my very obscurity.
When Fascism comes to America, it will arrive with the flag draped over one arm and a cross cradled lovingly in the other. I know this in my gut, but I also know something else: there is no left wing and no right wing, as both wings flap together. The right creates the left through its actions and inactions, even as the left creates the right. And increasingly, whichever side wins, we all lose.
Perhaps I neglected to mention paranoia, along with a bit of OCD. The reader, I am quite sure, will have guessed as much.
