1. Guided by Voices - "Ester's Day" - I've always kind of flirted with the idea of being a full-out rockstar, and I think if I had written this song I would be.
2. George Harrison - "Isn't It a Pity - I specifically mean the Galaxie 500 cover located on the Rykodisc re-release of On Fire, but either way, what a beautiful song.
3. The Secret Stars - "Shoe-In" - The awful deadpan delivery of Geoff Farina in the live version of this track on Angel Hall still can't nullify its nostalgic greatness.
4. Leonard Cohen - "So Long, Marianne" - I would never want to sound, look or be like Leonard Cohen, but I sure as hell love this song. Mmm.
5. Phil Spector - "I Love How You Love Me" - If I wrote this song, I'd plan to model myself after David Cassidy and work the casino circuit. I'd be down with all the wrinkled babes.
6. The La's - "There She Goes" - If I wrote this song, I'd be hanging out in my San Francisco loft rakin' in all the cheddar because this has to be one of the most covered songs of the 1990's.
7. The Twin Atlas - "Rooftop Sounds" - I would be so proud of myself if I wrote this song!
8. Radiohead - "Motion Picture Soundtrack" - Undeniably, Radiohead's simplest track. I would say it's one of their most powerful. If I wrote it, I probably wouldn't have added the harp, which would have made it worse, so I'm glad I didn't write this.
9. Talk Talk - "Taphead" - The scariest song from, what I would consider, one of the most underrated and underappreciated bands of the last twenty years. If I wrote this song, I'm pretty sure I'd be pulling my wedgied self out of lockers.
10. The Velvet Underground - "I'm Set Free" - I wasn't even born until Lou Reed's hairline started receding. BUT! If I were alive in 1969, I probably would have liked the Zombies, and not this.
