this is officially bad luck week for dustin watson.
sunday afternoon, the water in our bathroom pipes started coming out brown, so i called the superintendent to come and fix whatever the issue was. i had to run to work and he apparently came to check it out while i was gone.
i'm waiting for the bus outside and realize that i'm going to be late for work because the buses are running behind. i call work and say i'll be a few minutes late, which they're fine with, but it ends up taking almost an hour and a half before a bus finally shows up. i end up being nearly an hour late for work. annoying, but not a huge deal since it's my first time being late and i had a decent excuse. cool.
the next day, neither allison nor my alarm clock goes off and i end up waking up late for my morning shift at work.
then at work they teach me how to butterfly chicken breasts with a filet knife, but i end up butterflying the top of my thumb off instead.
today i wake up to find a letter under my door stating that when the superintendent came to correct the issue with the pipes he noticed that i have a cat living in my apartment. they're going to evict me if i do not get rid of said cat by june 30th. this cat is allison's baby, so giving her away is a definite no-go.
allison, as many of you realize, is my long-time girlfriend... you know, the one living here illegally. i'd have gotten her added to the lease, but the landlord wouldn't allow it. so now when they come back to see if the cat is still occupying my residence on june 30th, they'll undoubtedly realize that i am not living here alone. they won't allow me to sublet and they have absolutely bizarre requirements for breaking the lease, so moving out is going to be a lot of fun.
now allison and i are looking for a new place to live, i'll probably have to start finding another job and my thumb is bleeding all over my pants on the daily. life rules.

ALLSTONIANS PROTEST PUPPY STOMPING

Cries of "Two, four, six, eight, beagles we appreciate!" rang out Friday night as nearly 20 protestors encouraged people to boycott Blanchard's liquor store in Allston. Who would want to protest liquor? That's where the beagle chant comes in.
A then-employee posted a video from the store's surveillance camera YouTube showing someone stomp on a cage containing a beagle puppy. Protesters alleged that Blanchard's owner, John Corey, became enraged when his son kicked his Mercedes-Benz, and retaliated by jumping on the cage holding his son's puppy. The dog remains in the care of its owner and didn't sustain injuries, to the knowledge of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA).
The video is under investigation by the MSPCA and Boston Police, according to MSPCA spokesman Brian Adams. "At this time, we're not releasing the names of the parties involved or the location," he said. If the MSPCA presses charges, the felony could yield a five-year prison stint and/or a $2,500 fine.
The video infuriated Dustin Watson, a student at Emmanuel College, who organized last Friday's protest with his friend, Greg McGonagle.
Watson wasn't disappointed by the small turnout. "A lot of people are still just actively participating in the boycott," he said. "As long as they help spread the word, that's great." By the end of the night, Watson estimated they'd distributed 1,200 flyers. Protestors also held signs encouraging drivers to honk if they were against animal abuse.
Watson said he'd like Corey to face repercussions. "I'd like for him to come out and admit that it's him on the tape," said Watson. "He needs to know that you can't keep going around and stomping on things that are completely defenseless."
Corey owns only the Blanchard's in Allston—not the Jamaica Plain location. Several commenters on the YouTube video (which has since been taken down) encouraged viewers to patronize Marty's Liquors instead of Blanchard's, but Marty's Allston location is closing due to a rent hike by their landlords.
McGonagle claims his goal isn't to put Blanchard's out of business. "Just because the economy is in poor shape doesn't mean people can do things that aren't right," he said, adding, "If something were to happen, I would feel bad for the employees because it's not their fault."
During the protest, an employee of Blanchard's on a smoke break stood near the corner. He told protestors he supported them and thought what they were doing was great.
Joe Gomes, manager of Blanchard's, refused to comment on the situation, stating that as the matter is being investigated, he cannot discuss it.

oh, and allison & i moved into a gorgeous new apartment at packard's corner earlier this week. i really can't think of a more ideal location in boston. our couch will always be open to our friends (just make sure eggy hasn't claimed it before you get there), so that means summer hangouts, please.
there'll be pictures of it when we're finally unpacked, which could be a while. we have far too many books, dvds and toys (okay, i have too many books, dvds and toys).

okay, so here's my obligatory "hey everybody, look what i got for christmas" entry...
( i get the gifts every young boy wants!! )
it's my birthday in four days, so there'll probably be a really similar post next week.
oh, and expect another huge picture post soon full of winter-y fun from the past month.
really though, there's absolutely no reason for you to read this entry. it's 99% graphic novels and toys. i am still eleven years old and i seriously got spoiled this year.

after a month-long battle with my speech professor, my grade is finally what it should be and my gpa is a 3.7!
my schedule next semester is gonna kill me, but i'll finally be caught up with both of my majors. graphic design, drawing II, organizational behaviors, 3D design (at wheelock) and gd internship, plus 20+ hours a week at the internship and my part-time job being the secretary for the dean of students. yikes.
i'm living with allison for winter break, so i won't be going back to maine (except for a few days around christmas). life rules.

pizzabread house forever!
they ran out of traditional gingerbread house materials tonight at the cafeteria christmas party, so i got creative. first sevy and i made a frosting fortress, which sevy gave the fitting nickname of Satan's Butthole. after that, i truly came into my element and built that little beaut' up there! pizzabread house forever.

the assignment was to create a 10-15 second animation using emotive text. we had to choose a word, then make it act according to its definition. youtube destroyed the quality a little bit, but y'all get the basic idea.
