HISTORY
For the last nine years, Dale has lived alone in the forest. His reason for such a solitude is something he never speaks of. During this time, he has never set sight on another person during this time. He keeps a journal to help remind him that he is human, recording his thoughts and feelings. He is horrified one day to see that there is writing that is not his on the journal, believing that it is a sign that he has finally gone insane.
It is only after meeting Jarvis that Dale finally truly admits that the people he corresponds to on the journal are most likely real, though he still reserves some doubts as to whether any of it exists. After the forest in which he made his home was burnt down accidently through the actions of yet another person on the journals, he decided to leave the country of Hanalan and travelled to Atsiria. Now residing in the Atsirian mountains, Dale tries to rebuild his life, while also continuing to try and put the past behind him forever.
However, recently Dale ran out of arrows and, as Atsiria is somewhat lacking in proper trees, he has been forced to leave his new home in search of wood. Unfortunately for him, the Kilian mists are thick and difficult to navigate, even for one as skilled as he. Instead of ending up back in his new Atsirian mountain home, Dale found himself in Dentoria, face to face with more people from the journals: Prudence and Rina.
For reasons he did not really understand, Dale stayed at Rina's inn for some time, doing odd jobs for his keep. However he soon found that number of people to be too much, and Rina's attitude towards him to be too grating to him and so he left, figuring that Dentoria was enough like Hanalan that he would be able to survive just fine on his own.
He was right and wrong about this. Dale found that while Dentoria did have some similar characteristics of Hanalan (more so at least than Atsiria), it was not quite the same and he was struggling to stay alive. After getting frustrated with this, as well as fighting a new longing for his home that arose because of it, Dale decided it was time to leave.
And then October rolled around. However, this October Dale had a plan. He was going to do his best to hold on to his sanity and try and face down the demons of his past. His success with this was mixed, especially as he began to be troubled with an idea: that maybe he should return to the place that was once his home.
His return home was brief: he saw his parents, saw that they were okay, and left. This was how he had always wanted it, for his past would keep him from ever returning to Rayn for good. Soon after leaving Rayn, he met up with a group of merchants travelling to Floran who agreed to hire him as a hunter/bodyguard. He stayed with them until they reached the capital, for reasons beyond merely needing money.
At this point, Dale is still not quite comfortable being a part of society, but he no longer has the aversion to them he once did. And so he decided that try staying near the city, but living outside of it and began plans to work as a trapper, because furs as always in demand.
PERSONALITY
When he was younger, Dale was typically known as a rather nice boy, usually. He did however have a tendency to sometimes go into fierce rages against those around him. This slight instability has only gotten worse during the years he has been alone in the woods.
Though he goes to great lengths to avoid human contact, Dale does miss talking to people, interacting with them. However, he doesn’t realize how much he misses this until his journal starts letting people in.
He is usually fairly rough or snarky with the people he does talk to though, since he has convinced himself that he doesn't like being bothered by other people, plus he does sometimes burst into angry fits that don't necessarily have a reason behind them.
During the time since Dale's journal became connected to the network, he has been forced to come into human contact. While he certainly isn't sociable, he has become used to talking to others and being around them once again, even if most of the people he comes into contact with greatly annoy him.
APPEARANCE
The most striking thing about Dale’s appearance is a large scar on his chest from a wound he received when he was 16. Dale is rather tall and well-built, with short cropped, silver hair. His skin is darkened from being exposed to the sun almost all day, as he rarely goes into the cave that he uses for shelter.
