I was just outside taking the catsand to the trash and discovered that the rain has brought the slugs out!! Hundreds and hundreds of horrible, horrible slugs. It's storming right now, but tomorrow night I'm going to have a Slug Pickin' Party -- picking them off wherever/whatever they're on and dropping them into a bag of water with some soap in it.
But I'll need something to cheer me up while I'm doing it, because even though I wear nitrile gloves while I do it, it's so ICKY YUCK YUCK EWWWW to pick a big one up and feel it squirm and wriggle!
So what are some happy thoughts to think? Or if you can't think of any, what would be a more fun way to kill slugs? (I use SlugGo but apparently this is a new hatching.... ick.) |

| Ashley Hamilton Opens Up About Suffering From Anorexia & Bulimia! |
[May. 18th, 2013|09:43 pm]
|
The 38-year-old son of George Hamilton has had more than his fair share of troubles when it came to drug and alcohol abuse. After staying sober for more than six years and getting his career back on track, Hamilton found that he still had one serious problem that needed attention.
"I suffered from bulimia and anorexia," he tells PEOPLE about the eating disorder he's had since he was a teenager. "I believe it was my problem before I got into drugs and alcohol. I used the drugs and alcohol to control the food addiction."
Within the past year Hamilton sought treatment for his disorder, which he admits he still struggles with.
"I don't have it perfect now. I've been free from bulimia for years but I still struggle with food, restricting or overeating. That's been the hardest for me in sobriety," he admits that during his years at Beverly Hills High School his nickname was Fatley.
"When I speak at meetings I have people come up to me and say I suffer from it, too, but I'm too afraid to talk about it. It's almost like drug addiction is totally acceptable to talk about in Hollywood.
But food addiction? Nobody wants to talk about that. It's really shameful as a man to have that." At times, the 6-foot-3 actor says his weight fluctuated from 180 pounds to 250 pounds. And even now, after he's sought help, Hamilton says he's not quite at 100 percent yet.
"With food it's not black and white. It's: 'Oh, my behavior around food has been better this month," he explains. "You're surrounded by food. There are so many people in our country suffering from this. It's an emotional problem and that's been the struggle for me."
Hamilton's longtime friendship with Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr, who had his own longtime struggles, "helped open the door" to Hamilton's work on the movie.
"But he said 'I can't do it for you, Dude,'" Hamilton explains. "I said, 'That's ok. I just need somebody to give me the opportunity to trust in me sober-wise and give me a shot of this magnitude.' I'll forever owe him for that."
"When I was younger it all came so easy and I didn't appreciate it," he says. "I didn't feel like I'd earned it, you know? Now I feel like I've earned it and I've really worked for it."

| Jesse Eisenberg: Unintentionally Awkward or Intentional A-hole? |
[May. 18th, 2013|09:50 pm]
|
Jesse Eisenberg has been doing a lot of press for Now You See Me, out May 31st in the U.S. Usually interviewers find him "intelligent," "hilarious," and "a sweetheart," but this interviewer has a different take.
Watch Romina Puga interview Jesse for her "Say My Name" segment on Fusion (apparently a joint venture between ABC News and Univision):
Source: http://abcnews.go.com/ABC_Univision/video/jesse-eisenberg-learned-magic-tricks-now-set-19203187
What's confusing is that even though the interview is cute and funny, her own account tells a different story:

ONTD, what say you? Diehard JE fans are upset that she called out his so-called lack of character, feel weird that she is offended, and think that she is unprofessional; other non-fans believe that he's an arrogant dick. I am not sure what to make of her responses on Twitter: https://twitter.com/rominapuga Also, here are more responses I found: http://fumetsushinju.tumblr.com/post/50709568190/so-romina-pugas-interview-really-pissed-me-off Personally, I think this whole thing is a non-issue. I feel like the interview was staged and kind of inspired by Between Two Ferns. Both of them are laughing throughout the whole thing and her account is sarcastic. Who knows, they could've gone out to dinner after (lol).
Also, Jesse was on David Letterman Thursday night. I'd upload a video if I could, but I can't find the whole thing. |

| That Young Wonder Woman TV Show Is Being “Redeveloped” |
[May. 18th, 2013|09:43 pm]
|

When we first heard there was going to be another attempt at a Wonder Woman television show after the failed attempt that was David E. Kelley’s pilot, we were shocked. We got as far as character descriptions and even a few actors’ names being thrown in the ring to play Princess Diana but then came a pause, one we hoped didn’t mean the end of the project. Thankfully, we can now report the series, titled Amazon, is still being worked on.
All of the networks have been going through upfronts this week, presentations in which they showcase their returning and new series. While Amazon wasn’t on The CW’s slate for the fall, it was brought up as a topic for discussion. ( Read more...Collapse ) |

New Clip- "End of Time"
New stills:

( Six MoreCollapse )
Director Neil Jordan and actor Gemma Arterton talk vampire feminism in Byzantium
‘There have been too many vampire films lately,’ laughs Neil Jordan, perched on a chair in London’s Soho Hotel. You might say the director of Interview With the Vampire only has himself to blame. Without his 1994 take on Anne Rice’s novel, starring Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, there’d arguably be no Twilight. And while that series is now thankfully at an end, with a sixth season of True Blood and Jim Jarmusch’s Only Lovers Left Alive on the way, our thirst for these blood-sucking characters seems unquenched. Returning to the genre with his new film Byzantium, this vampire renaissance has left him incredulous. ‘The extraordinary thing is [it now] appeals to young teenage girls,’ says the 63 year old Irishman. If Rice’s vampires symbolised the spread of AIDS, the creature of the night has become something altogether more ‘strange’, he estimates. ‘[When I saw the first Twilight] I thought “OK, well now it’s become this allegory about chaste love between teenagers. How weird!”

Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato have confirmed that they will return to the judges table for next season, but Simon's wish list to replace Britney Spears and L.A. Reid is reportedly all female. It looks like American Idol isn't the only music show looking to do a major shake-up in the battle for ratings! Cowell has reportedly instructed his underlings for the show not to worry about getting major recording artists, but rather to focus on chemistry between the judges. With that said, he still has some fairly strong names on his list for next season.

| Michael Jackson's Ex-Housekeeper Key Witness in Wade Robson's Molestation Lawsuit |
[May. 18th, 2013|05:39 pm]
|

The Neverland housekeeper who graphically described seeing Wade Robson naked in a shower with Michael Jackson ... will play a huge role in whether Robson wins a cent from MJ's Estate in his new civil lawsuit, TMZ has learned.
Sources close to the case tell us Wade's lawyers are dissecting Blanca Francia's testimony during Jackson's 2005 molestation trial.
During the trial, Francia -- who worked at Neverland in the late '80s -- testified she witnessed Jackson showering naked with a 7 or 8-year-old Wade.
We obtained a transcript of the testimony in which Francia describes seeing Michael's underwear on the floor outside the shower, as well as Wade's child-sized neon green underwear.
She said she couldn't see what Michael was doing exactly because the shower door was fogged up, but said she heard him laughing.
Ultimately, Francia's testimony wasn't enough to sway the jury -- MJ was acquitted -- partly because Wade himself also testified, but insisted Michael never touched him.
TMZ broke the story ... Wade is planning to argue that MJ's companies -- MJJ Productions and MJJ Ventures -- had a duty to protect him because they were involved in recruiting him from Australia to work with Michael.
According to sources, Wade wants to use Blanca's testimony to show Michael abused him as a child. We're told Wade's lawyers are also trying to contact her to see if she will cooperate in the new case.

| Squaretrade Warranty, anyone? |
[May. 18th, 2013|07:23 pm]
|
I just recently got an iPad mini and want to get some sort of warranty for it. I've considered AppleCare+, but when I read up on it, you can only purchase it either at the time of buying the iPad online from the Apple Store or buy it within the first 30 days in person at an Apple Store. I live in a town where we have no Apple Stores but rather an Authorized Apple Repair Centre. I'm not sure they would carry the warranty there though. I know you can purchase AppleCare for Macs there as I did last year, and I know they fix iPads/iPhones in addition to Macs, I'm just not sure about warranty for anything other than computers and I can't find info about it on their site. I could always call and ask, but I hate calling places of business.
However, I've heard good things about Squaretrade and am thinking of getting one through them simply because their warranty covers more (drops, spills, etc) whereas AppleCare+ only handles hardware/software issues and two replacements due to drops and the like. What I think it boils down to me for me is the fact that if I were to get one through Squaretrade, it wouldn't be local so I couldn't just take it down and get it looked at. They look to be about the same price wise, but I can get a three-year warranty for $129 through Squaretrade where AppleCare+ only covers you for two for $99. A two-year warranty is also $99 on Squaretrade.
Has anyone ever used Squaretrade? If you had to file a claim, was it a quick and easy process?
Advice? Thoughts? |

A followup to my previous post.
I got tired of waiting for Henna Hut to contact me, so I filed a Paypal dispute (because usually, if nothing else, this will get someone to take notice of your problem). I gave it a few days - nothing. So, I escalated it to a claim and let Paypal deal with it. One day later, I get a very terse email from Henna Hut, just saying that he/she (their name was Shasta, so I'm unsure of gender) wasn't in the office at the moment but would send me my tracking number on Monday. No reference to the Paypal dispute, no apologies, nothing else. I ignored it, because quite frankly, even if it *had* a tracking number, it had been over two weeks so it clearly was lost or something. I never got any further communication from them on Monday, so on Tuesday, I replied and said that I never got sent any tracking information and I'd just like a refund, please. That afternoon, I got a notification from Paypal saying I got a refund, and another very terse email from Henna Hut just saying they sent the refund via Paypal.
All good, right? I go to another, different website that I've been recommended for henna, and place an order with the Paypal refund from Henna Hut. Then, that evening, I get an automated email from Henna Hut, saying that a package was on its way to me, with a tracking number (that worked!) I mean, I guess they were just trying to make up for their mistake, but if I'd known they were going to do that, I wouldn't have placed the order with the other website! Their lack of communication throughout the whole issue really irritated me, and so I still won't be ordering from them in future. |

| Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart Break Up – for Now: Source |
[May. 18th, 2013|06:26 pm]
|
Twilight fans may want to sit down for this one.
As rumors of relationship trouble continue to swirl, a source tells PEOPLE that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have called it quits after more than three years of dating. Reps for the two could not be reached.
But the source says it would not be surprising if the on-and-off-again pair got back together again.
The news follows online reports that Pattinson ditched out on his 27th birthday plans arranged by Stewart.
Prior to his birthday, the pair appeared to be on and going strong: They were seen in New York together after the Met Gala – and then flew back to Los Angeles together on May 8. They also recently celebrated Stewart's 23rd birthday together and held hands at Coachella – despite the actress's cheating scandal with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders last July.
Following the ordeal – which included a public apology from Stewart to Pattinson – the duo reunited less than two months later and appeared to be back to normal.
With the exception of some paparazzi kissing shots and Stewart's admission of her fling, after which she openly professed her love for Pattinson, the two never publicly addressed their romance.
Stewart was known for playing coy about her relationship in interviews, most recently telling Today's Savannah Guthrie she likes to "keep 'em guessing" about her love life. source #NotUnbroken |

| Kanye West to Release New Album ‘Yeezus’ on June 18 |
[May. 18th, 2013|04:37 pm]
|
Yeezus is coming. After much anticipation, Kanye West will release his sixth solo album next month.
Rap-Up.com can confirm that the follow-up to 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy will be titled Yeezus and arrive on June 18.
The G.O.O.D. Music rapper premiered a new song entitled “New Slaves” last night via projections on buildings in 10 cities across the world. The song, about modern day slavery, features vocals from Frank Ocean.
The 35-year-old West stirred speculation about the June 18 date with a tweet earlier this month.
During a trip to New York last month, the father-to-be stopped by his label Def Jam to play music. Hot 97 host Peter Rosenberg described the album as having a “dark” tone. “Everyone at the label listened to the album and loved it,” he said. “I heard it’s dark, but really good.”
Details surrounding his recording sessions remain scarce, but he has been in the studio with Daft Punk, who programmed drums for the album. “It was very raw: he was rapping—kind of screaming primally, actually,” Thomas Bangalter of the French duo told Rolling Stone. “Kanye doesn’t give a fuck.”
Kanye is expected to premiere new material during tonight’s season finale of “Saturday Night Live.”

| Q&A: Simon Pegg on Star Trek Into Darkness, Life on Other Planets and Ugly Shirts of the Future |
[May. 18th, 2013|05:45 pm]
|

In the Trek universe, it’s usually Spock and Kirk who get top billing. But it Simon Pegg’s Scotty—the starship engineer of “Beam me up!” fame—who truly breaks out in Star Trek Into Darkness (out May 16). Here, the 43-year-old actor, who’s also in Shaun of the Dead threequel The World’s End (out Aug. 23), talks with TIME.
TIME: You share screen time with aliens in both Star Trek and The World’s End. Do you personally believe they exist?
Simon Pegg: I think you’d be foolish not to, to be honest, with the statistics involved. There are billions and billions of planets. It’s like that quote about sowing an entire field of seeds and expecting there to be one to grow. I don’t believe that they’ll visit us. That’s beyond physical capabilities, with the distance between planets, let alone galaxies. It’s way, way too vast to travel in our timeframe. Even at warp speed. But the notion that there’s nothing out there is damn right arrogant and naïve.

| For Sale: A Video of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Smoking Crack Cocaine |
[May. 18th, 2013|04:37 pm]
|
CNN - "Toronto's mayor has purportedly been filmed on cellphone video smoking crack cocaine, the Toronto Star reported.
The footage appears to show Rob Ford "sitting in a chair, wearing a white shirt, top buttons open, inhaling from what appears to be a glass crack pipe," the newspaper says."
Gawker is trying to raise $200,000.00 to purchase the tape, so they can publish it online.
"We are raising the money to purchase the video and publish it so the citizens of Toronto can watch a startlingly clear video of their mayor smoking crack. The people who are selling it want money. But they also want security. During Cook's trip to Toronto earlier this week to view the tape, they told him that they will not feel safe in the city after the video comes out. Ford is a powerful man, with powerful friends, and these are young kids who fear a possible frame-up from Toronto cops or worse. The money they are asking for will, they say, cover their departure from Toronto to get set up in another city where they will feel safer. Right now, they are in hiding."
You can check out the fundraiser here. Rob Fords track record includes marijuanna charges. offering to buy drugs for a citizen, public intoxication, and a full conflict of interest case. You can checkout a full timeline of this controversies here.

In Touch: Were you shocked to find out that Adam was expecting a child with his current girlfriend, Taylor Halbert?
Chelsea Houska: I was shocked when I found out that he was expecting another kid. He told me right away when he found out and I was just so upset for Aubree. I’m worried. What if that child gets more attention from him? I don’t want her to feel left out or anything like that.
IT: How did Adam tell you?
CH: He texted me and said that he had something to tell me and I immediately knew that’s what it was, so I called him and asked him if she was pregnant and he said, “Yeah.” I’m pretty sure I hung up because I was just so upset.
IT: Now that the news has sunk in, what are your thoughts about the situation?
CH: I’m happy for them. I just feel that he’s in a bad place right now and it’s probably not a good situation to bring a child into – especially since he has one.
IT: Have you or Adam told Aubree that she is going to be a big sister?
CH: I haven’t told her and I’m not sure if he’s told her. I think I’m going to wait a while to tell her. I don’t know what to do, so I have to wait a while. I’m sure she’ll be excited. She loves babies!

| Soundgarden's Chris Cornell Credits Fitness For Countinued Career |
[May. 18th, 2013|11:44 pm]
|

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell is still going strong at the age of 48 and the rocker credits staying fit for being able to continue his career path with relative ease. The vocalist spoke with ESPN Playbook about his fitness regimen and how it’s helped him stay on top of his game.
Cornell says there was a period in his life, once the band started rolling, where he wasn’t as physically fit. He explains, “It goes back to the brain. It never felt right to me unless I was working out. If you’re a psychiatrist, I assume it was about self-image. I don’t like being out of shape and I needed to focus my work ethic.”
The frontman says before the band hit it big, he always found time to do pull-ups in the back of kitchens. He adds, “You never know about availability or time or space. I would just wedge it in. I had those periods of my life when I was inactive. I wasn’t feeling good then. I finally forced myself to get out and do something.”
These days, Cornell says he’s avid about cardio and is into isometric workouts to stay in shape. “When I’m mentally distraught, I work out. I’m always hiking or walking these days. And I still love my mountain bike,” says the singer. However, when he’s on tour, the exercise takes care of itself. “I’m performing three shows in a row for more than two hours at a time and then I’d get a day off. That is my workout,” says Cornell. “I don’t do anything on the off days so I can prepare for the next show. I need that day off to rest to be able to sing that long.”
Speaking about what being physically fit means to him these days, the vocalist concludes, “It means I can do whatever I want without having to worry about it.”

Kings of Leon uncorked a brand-new song during their Saturday night set at the Bottle Rock festival in Napa, California. The track, a surging rocker — which a spokesperson for the band told MTV News is called "It Don't Matter" (although in some sources it's called "Always The Same") — clocks in at less than three minutes, features a fleet-fingered guitar solo and certainly shreds a lot harder than anything on 2010's Come Around Sundown (in fact, it sort of reminds us of a muscled-up version of something from their 2003 Youth & Young Manhood debut). | Janet Jackson Talks 'janet.' 20th Anniversary & New Album: Exclusive |

Janet Jackson's "janet." celebrates its 20th anniversary today, May 18. Her groundbreaking fifth album has sold over 7 million copies and spawned six Hot 100 singles. The album was a sexual awakening for both Jackson and American culture. Hits like "That's The Way Love Goes" and "Any Time, Any Place" were some of the most sexually frank to reach the upper reaches of the charts at the time.
Though she's kept a low profile since 2011, when she released her self-help memoir "True You" and toured behind her "Number Ones" greatest hits set, Janet Jackson spoke with Billboard for an exclusive Q&A where she revisits the making of "janet.," discusses its current influence and teases her next album ("I am working on a new project now").

Noel Gallagher has said that David Beckham should take up songwriting now that he has retired from football.
The former England and Manchester United player confirmed that he will stop playing football at the end of this season having rejected a chance to continue playing with Paris St Germain into 2014. Speaking to ITV News about Beckham's next career move while at the Ivor Novello Awards yesterday (May 16), Gallagher said: "Songwriting".
He added: "He's had a great career and played for some of the most iconic clubs in world football. He could probably go into management one day, as long as it's not (Manchester) City."
The former Oasis member also said he "hated" Beckham when he played for United, but has since become friends with the sportsman. "I hated him when he played for United. Hated him. Hate. Proper hate. But luckily I met him when he'd left United and he's such a nice lad and he's a brilliant footballer."
Noel Gallagher, The Maccabees and Alt-J all picked up major awards at this year's Ivor Novellos in London with Gallagher collecting the award for Outstanding Song Collection, which was presented to him by Kinks singer Ray Davies. The former Oasis member thanked "my publishers, who I've only just met after 20 years – Sony, apparently," to guffaws of laughter from the industry audience. He dedicated the award to his wife, who, he said, once told him she'd never seen him write any songs. "This is proof that I do," he said.

In fan fiction, your favorite characters can do … whatever you want them to
When J.J. Abrams took over the Star Trek franchise in 2009, he boldly went where the series hadn’t gone before — romantically — pairing Uhura with Spock. Many fans disliked the change. Some loved it. Others didn’t care, because they just wanted to see Kirk and Spock make out.
This story is about that third category.
For decades, Kirk/Spock has been one of the most popular couples in fan fiction, a genre in which fans write stories using characters from books, movies, TV shows and even real life. (Kirk/Spock spawned the subgenre “slash” — fan fiction about same-sex entanglements.)
Fan fiction is having a moment right now, and not just because “Star Trek Into Darkness” has thrown a luscious new villain, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, into the mix. ( Read more...Collapse )

| Lily Allen says her new songs are going to be about 'babies and nappies' |
[May. 18th, 2013|10:54 pm]
|

Lily Allen has claimed that her new album will feature songs about "babies and nappies".
The singer has been secretive about material for her new record so far and has refused to give too much away about progress on the follow-up to her 2009 album 'It's Not Me, It's You'. But speaking to Metro at yesterday's Ivor Novellos, she said that she was now inspired by different topics than when she first began writing songs.
"I wouldn't say it's been easy. It hasn't been hard," she said of the current writing sessions. "It's just been different because my pool of inspiration is so different to what it was nine or 10 years ago."
Allen, who also confirmed she was "writing my third album at the moment" and said it was "shaping up pretty well", may have caused some offence to the Ivor Novellos bods when she spoke about the special use she's found for her own two awards, which she bagged at the ceremony in 2010. "They actually are used as doorsteps in my house," she said. "They are my most prized possession but I do use them so that they are seen every day."
In October last year, Allen told NME that although she'd been "tinkering away" in the studio, she would not release any music until she was satisfied the new material was "amazing". She was at yesterday's Ivor Novellos to present an award to Alt-J, who took home the Album Award. Noel Gallagher, The Maccabees and Calvin Harris also took home gongs from the bash, which was held in London.

| 'Star Trek Into Darkness': Let's Talk About That Ending |
[May. 18th, 2013|03:32 pm]
|

Nobody knew anything about Star Trek Into Darkness. The trailers for J.J. Abrams’ reboot-prequel-sequel were filled with mind-blowing images: Spaceships falling to earth! Spock jumping across flying vehicles! Pretty red trees! But besides a boilerplate plot description that read like a Blockbuster Sequel Mad Libs — “personal score to settle,” “epic chess game of life and death,” “sacrifices must be made” — the actual plot of Into Darkness was shrouded in mystery. And nothing was more mysterious than the film’s newest and most glamourous addition: Benedict Cumberbatch, who was playing a character named “John Harrison,” the red herringest of red herring franchise names since “John Blake.” Well, now we finally know the truth. At long last, we can all finally bask in the knowledge that has been kept hidden for so long. SPOILER ALERT from here, because ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to introduce:

We're buying a washer & dryer from someone on Craigslist. They offered to drive one of the appliances back to our house so we wouldn't have to borrow/rent a truck. It's a 10-15 minute drive from their house to ours.
How much money should I offer to cover their gas? I was thinking $10; would that be enough to cover their gas to and from our house? |

Her fans have always said she is out of this world. And it seems the message has finally hit home for Anne Hathaway too as she donned a NASA T-shirt for an outing in New York on Friday. She was joined by her beefcake jewellery designer husband Happy Meal Ryan Gosling Adam Shulman as she boldly went where many people have gone before, the streets of Brooklyn.
