It wasn't the weather. It was the monuments. Who wants to spend that much money on statues, anyway? Obviously the U.S. Government does. Leave the dead, dead. That's what we told each other. Statues are a wasted tribute for living people that can't begin to understand. We knew this because we didn't understand.
