reem is in my living room watching some boring movie. well i suspect that its actually a very good movie that my taste isnt developped enough to appreciate, but be that as it may, its boring me. and i think i was really irritating her, so i came in here to do something else. there isnt really anything else to do though... i could go read sense and sensibility but the bitchy girls in it piss me off. honestly, i think that jane austen does the most amazing annoying women. u wnat to slap them. u positively cant stand them. you know even her most one-dimensional characters intimately. because after all, when u think about it, a lot of people you know in your life are one-dimensional. those people you see at school, that u know a few things about, or your friend's friend's that you hang out from time to time: how many aspects of their personalities do you know?
that is the genius of jane austen. her people are real. two hundred years later, they still strike us as real people. they talk differently, have different priorities (how much do any of us care how elegant someone is or how well-bred) but parallels suggest themselves. elegance ---> style. good breeding, good manners ---> being interesting to talk to. what we really like about people doesnt change, but the mould that our society imposes on our minds does. human nature doesnt change, but time does. i dont even know if i'm making any sense.
thats what i love about writing ... ideas i never knew i had present themselves to me. there is no better way of clarifying my thoughts than to sit and write. there is no barrier between what i'm thinking and what i'm writing, so most of it is drivel (as i'm sure you can see), but the thoughts that occasionally come out that i never would have found otherwise are worth the thousands of pointless words that i spout.
well thats enough speculation for one coffee-saturated friday morning, i'm going to go take a shower. maybe reems movie is going to finish soon... i can only hope.
