In the year 2000, the leaders of 189 nations pledged to end world poverty by 2015. They agreed that they had the power and the means to do this. They agreed to make ending global poverty a priority.
As we get closer to this date, we realize that the world leaders are not doing what they agreed to do. Circumstances in many nations are only growing more dire. In fact, tomorrow alone, 24000 will die of poverty.
On October 15-16th the world will rise up, if for just one moment, to remind these world leaders that they must fulfill their promise.
In rallies and meetings and concerts and sporting events and in homes all over the world, people will stand and be counted, by the world's leaders and even the Guinness Book of world records, as we set the mark for most people in history standing to support a cause.
