I'M NOT DEAD!

Hello everybody - I've been in a muddle mix of sleep and extreme craze!
Yeah, my hair probably proves my point - I just haven't been that calm and collected recently.
Is it because the show my big-ass photographs is in opens tomorrow? Maybe.
Is it because I'm not sure I like or enjoy this project anymore? Maybe.
Is it because amongst the sea of other incredible senior student work, I feel inadequate? Maybe.
Is it because I just felt so incredibly humbled and just unworthy of all the Kickstarter help? Definitely.

I promise to get back to the updating soon - things have moved at a whirlwind pace.

Hope you are all well!

Much love friends.

This is Saturday, March 24, 2012!
A (embarrassingly) typical Los Angeles adventure day - complete with old friends, overspending on food items, and a plethora of art learning and cultural absorption!

The Cry Project
in the works by Sarah Waldorf

Dear followers and friends who still actively read this photoblog,

Thank you for all your support over the years. I started this blog when I was...geez, like 15 years old. I used to just post the obligatory rambly teenage update - "MY MOM IS SO MEAN TO ME" - but it turned into a way for me to share my world with you all. I never even considered myself as an artist or that I could succeed in a career in the arts. In fact, it was a friend on LJ that told me to start posting my days in [info]adayinmylife and [info]documentaday. I realized that documenting ones world was just another way to examine the way I conduct myself and my surroundings.

When I entered college, I started as a communications major. But I quickly switched to Art, and the positive support I received on this site after sharing the Family Project, my self-portrait series, a documentary series on Orange High, and my first little gallery show with a peer, Hannah Karsen, were so kind and generous.

I touched upon this a bit in my Utah Blog, but I'm just going for it. I'm not going to sit back and worry that I'm not good enough - the best way to experience things is to just fucking do them. So I took a risk, I'm pretty vulnerable here - and I started this project. It's a big project, expensive...especially for me, somebody who hasn't really ever made something to this scale. But I love the project, and I think its interesting and has so much to say.

Please take a moment to just watch the video and read the page - even your awareness of this project is enough support for me. I extend this link as a way to gain donations (yes, I cannot deny that this is why I have made a Kickstarter page), but also as a way to say - hey LJ, thank you. Thank you for believing in me so much that I now know exactly what I want to spend my life pursuing - I love making art, and looking at art, and thinking about art. And the root of all my big dreams is this silly little photo blog that I started back in 2006.

Thank you for reading. Thank you for following.
I appreciate everything you've all given me.

Much love friends,
Sarah

A day at my internship, in classes, and with a bit of a stomach bug, actually.
There are a lot of versions of my face in this day - don't be afraid! Come and look!

Utah 2012 - Part 1
So the most votes were a documented day - and of course I haven't actually documented a day.
I was in LA most of the weekend working on a quick photo project (involving the Hollywood sign and tourists and me being incredibly awkward by asking them to do stuff for me)
And now I'm back in Orange (WITH YOKO who is visiting me) ready to take on this week.
Here's my schedule, so you can choose which day I document!

DEINSTALLATION: PAIN & PLEASURE!
We're still in the process of prepping for artworks for New Frontier (the Sundance exhibition)
Today we're doing some studio visits and walking around Salt Lake City.
We've been in the museum doing some hardcore deinstall work in the last few days.

Here are my posts about that stuff:
Deinstall Day 2: HAULING wood, damnit.
Deinstall Day 3: Painting poorly and whatever
Deinstall Day 4: MR. WINKLE and other cute things

Have a great week!

Much love friends.

ART THINGS & OUTDOOR THINGS
I'm so sorry (I keep apologizing hah) that you'll have to travel over to my wordpress Utah blog.
My adviser says a lot of art things should only be posted there because its approved by her.
Gallerists or artists could get angry to have their pieces reproduced on my personal blog, so afraid you'll have to go there!

Things we've done:
1) Kim Schoenstadt's vinyl wall: HERE
2) Robert Smithson's: Spiral Jetty
3) Working on deinstalling Doublespeak: HERE

Check it, thanks for reading!
Much love friends.
