Christian Bale Hits Rock Bottom, Becomes Crack Cocaine-Addicted

Christian Bale looks to have lost a significant amount of weight and thinned his hair for his character in the new movie, The Fighter.
The 35-year-old British actor shot new scenes on Monday afternoon (July 13) in Los Angeles. In the movie, Christian plays “welterweight boxer turned trainer turned drug addict” Dickie Eklund (welterweight is heavier than lightweight but lighter than middleweight).
FYI: Christian is a notorious method actor, who lost a staggering 63 pounds for the 2004 film The Machinist.

[July 13th, 2009] |
|
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, back after a nine-day vacation in South Africa, on Monday did his best to snuff out a smoldering debate over whether the city should try to recoup its expenses for the Michael Jackson memorial at Staples Center last week.
The mayor said the city would pick up the estimated $1.4-million tab for police protection, traffic control and other services and not bill the Jackson family or AEG, the company that owns Staples.

| Police accuse wife in boxer Gatti's death |
[July 13th, 2009] |
|
*An Update from this post:
Police investigating the death of former boxing champion Arturo Gatti in Brazil are working on the assumption his wife strangled him with her purse strap while he drunkenly slept. The woman's lawyer, however, insists she is not guilty and was too "fragile" to kill the boxer, who was born in Italy but grew up in Montreal. Lead investigator Moises Teixeira told The Associated Press on Monday nothing is being ruled out but he is certain the woman acted by herself. "It was technically impossible for a third person to have been in the flat" where Gatti was found dead early Saturday, Teixeira said. "The investigation isn't finished, but we continue to think she did this alone." ( More behind the cut ) CBC

| Edgar Wright Might Do A Film called Baby Driver, not about a baby driver |
[July 13th, 2009] |
|

Don't get your hopes up about seeing Edgar Wright's Ant-Man movie anytime soon. Wright, who is still shooting Scott Pilgrim vs. the World up in Toronto and skipping Comic-Con this year, told Empire that, "I'd like to make Baby Driver next if possible." Baby Driver is something that Wright wrote himself and isn't based on anything; it's being described as "a wild spin on the action and crime genre which will be set in the US." Wright explains: "I think when I do that one I’d like to go completely silent for once. Probably because it’s not an adaptation or anything, or a sequel to anything else. I’d like to just make it in private, basically."
( Shit just got real.. )

| Rep: Ed Hardy Designer "Not Starting Kids' Clothing Line With" Jon Gosselin |
[July 13th, 2009] |

Despite reports that Jon Gosselin and Ed Hardy fashion designer Christian Audigier spent the weekend finalizing a deal to launch a children's clothing line together, the designer's rep tells Usmagazine.com that no such project is happening.
"Christian is absolutely not starting a kids' clothing line with Jon," a rep for Audigier tells Us. "As of right now, there is no clothing line in the works between them at all."
Gosselin -- an Ed Hardy fan -- and his 22-year-old girlfriend Hailey Glassman spent the past few days on board Audigier's yacht in St. Tropez in the French Riviera.
On Sunday, E! News reported the father of eight and Audigier met up in France to go over a possible business partnership.
"We would like to do a line of children's clothing," Audigier, 51, told E! News.
He added: "They're having fun. I"m taking care of them."
Why would the 32-year-old unemployed star of Jon & Kate Plus 8 want to delve into this line of work? He has long been a fan of Audigier's hip clothing line.
On June 4, he wore a $275 red sweatshirt while unpacking luggage outside his home in Wernersville Pa. Two days later - while taking 8-year-old twins Cara and Mady to see Disney's Up -- he donned a pair of $150 Ed Hardy jungle-inspired jeans (featuring two angry tigers on the rear).
