l wanted a perfect ending

Now I've learned, the hard way, that some poems don't rhyme, and some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity.

I post my own paintings, drawings, photography, poetry. I am working on getting high enough more frequently to record myself speaking the poetry I write. After youtube has finished uploading my video, I will share my first.

I like to share pictures that have anything to do with: psychoactives, timothy leary, woody allen, philosophy, spirituality, avant garde.

JUST IN CASE a picture is necessary:

I need more followers and friends for tumblr. I post a lot of photography, drawings, paintings, poetry and other artful things often that belong to me. I'd like to have tumblr friends who, instead of sharing everyone elses stuff, use their tumblr for their own art. But, even if you don't do things like that and like to just share random things you come across, I wouldn't mind you being a friend or following you, either.

Khachapuri (Georgian cheese pastry) [Wednesday the 22nd

I always loved khachapuri, this incredibly Georgian pastry filled with cheese. Especially the Adjarian version, which is shaped as a boat and holds a gently cooked egg over the melted cheese. Khachapuri cafe is one of my favorite Georgian places in Moscow and a couple of days ago I got lucky to learn to make khachapuri from their chefs. It turned our absolutely doable at home, which felt like magic. Read more...

Orange polenta cake [Tuesday the 21st

[12april2014]

I'm very glad glutenfree is the monthly theme. It's great to see some new recipes! I only have this one, and I'm afraid I enjoy it so much that I never really bother to try something new when baking for gluten intolerant people.
It's very simple to make, and it tastes really light and fresh, it's perfect for summer! Or actually any time. Right now, spring apparantly means 12 degrees celcius and rain.. And I could definitely do with a slice of this cake. Just to remind me of sunshine.

Read on for the recipeCollapse )

Yonder Comes the Other End of Time, by Suzette Haden Elgin [Tuesday the 21st
]

bookshare

[inverarity]
A sequel to the Ozark trilogy, in which the author introduces the main character from her other sci-fi series to Planet Ozark.

Yonder Comes the Other End of Time

Daw Books, 1986, 302 pages

ROGUE TELEPATH!

The Communipaths have traced a mind message of incredible strength to a seemingly empty sector of space, and now Tri-Galactic Federation agent Coyote Jones must find an invisible planet and bring back the unknown telepath who threatens to disrupt the entire Communipath system.

Bursting through a Spell of Invisibility and straight into Brightwater Kingdom on the planet Ozark, Coyote discovers a realm ruled by a iron-willed young woman named Responsible — perhaps the very telepath he seeks. But on this world where Magicians of Rank can call up a storm or cure a wounded and unwelcome offworlder with equal ease, will Coyote's psience or Ozark's spells prove the stronger?

Ozark magic vs. intergalactic telepaths. Fun, charming, and awfully damn silly.

Verdict: This is not a book you'd want to read as a stand-alone. If you have not read the Ozark Trilogy first, and preferably a couple of the Coyote Jones books as well, then Yonder Comes the Other End of Time is going to seem awfully silly and nonsensical. If you have read those books, then this book is still a little silly, but you'll enjoy it more.

Also by Suzette Haden Elgin: My review of The Ozark Trilogy.

Can You // Christian Barter [Tuesday the 21st

[iatrogenicmyth]
Can you love the dawn and hate the day? I do.
"Addicted to the beginnings of relationships,"
as I've been told. And told. And told. The new
light looks as something else when it first hits,
something more like Catherine standing up
across a strangered room, that promising look
she had before the promises, still stuck
with sweetness to her face in my notebook
of pre-day ecstasies. I love the feel
of gray seeping into black-what it represents:
the casting-out that could occur-and the real,
truant world opening, before it grows dense
with light and the need for endings, setting free
that inkling some lasting love might come to me.

The 39 Clues - Cahills Vs Vespers 05 - Trust No OneTitle: Trust No One
Author: Linda Sue Park
Genre: Young Adult, Mystery
Publisher: Scholastic Trade
Publish Date: December 2012

Synopsis:
When seven members of their family were kidnapped, thirteen-year-old Dan Cahill and his older sister, Amy, got ready for the fight of their lives. But their enemy, a terrifying group known as the Vespers, remained frustratingly elusive. They stay in the shadows, picking off Cahills one by one.

And now the Vespers have landed their most serious blow yet - a blow that strikes at the very heart of the Cahill family. Because Amy and Dan discover that there's a Vesper mole in their innermost circle. Amy and Dan need to smoke out the traitor before the next hostage dies. They have just days to discover who has their back . . . and who wants to sink a knife into it.

In this fifth volume to The 39 Clues: Cahills vs. Vespers series. Amy and Dan will venture into an unthinkable adventure that will have anticipating the final volume.

My Thoughts:

Dan and Amy are still struggling with learning that there is a mole within them and that they really cannot trust anyone but each other. This doesn’t make staying alive any easier
The pace of the book was good and I especially liked Dan’s point of view and how he feels he needs to ‘man up’ and do the right thing.

These croissants are soft and slightly sweet and they taste heavenly with cooked ham and cheese, but also with jam. They're a lot richer than normal croissants and can definitely count as a whole meal. Even though they didn't turn out like I had planned, they were definitely worth the effort!

Baked Zeppole, kind of [Sunday the 19th

[superbadgirl]
These are more like the cream puff kind, only I didn't have any cream filling, so they got a healthy coat of vanilla sugar which I tried to powder instead. And you know what? The cream filling isn't needed. These are light, fluffy, addicting, and slightly healthier for you than their fried counterparts.

These may or may not be anything like a zeppole. I admit, I've never had one of those. They are, however, delicious in their own right. Except the batch I burned, because I always burn at least one. Mmm-mmm-mmm.
