Ray Manzarek, the founding keyboardist for the Doors, passed away this morning in Germany, according to a statement from his publicist. The cause was bile duct cancer.
As a member of the legendary rock band that formed in 1965 in Los Angeles and effectively ended with the death of frontman Jim Morrison in 1971 (though the group continued to perform and release music in other iterations for many years), Manzarek became an enduring symbol of the era — he was portrayed by Kyle McLachlan in the 1991 Oliver Stone biopic The Doors, and wrote a best-selling memoir about his experiences, Light My Fire: My Life with The Doors, in 1998.
The Doors sold more than 100 million albums worldwide on the strength of hits like ”Hello, I Love You,” “Riders on the Storm,” “Light My Fire,” and “Break On Through to the Other Side.”
Manzarek is survived by his wife Dorothy, son Pablo, and three grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in Manzarek’s name to standup2cancer.org.
Just the other day after the former Disney tween was spotted leaving the Biebster's recording studio, a source told us that something has been in the works.
What does Ms. Cyrus have to say about the rumors?
"I know pictures are flying around," she told me Sunday on the blue carpet at the Billboard Music Awards. "You guys will have to wait and see. I'm the biggest at top secrets. I've had this single ["We Can't Stop," to be released June 3] ready for about a year, and I've had to keep my lips sealed and just not saying anything. So you'll see."
Now, talking about "We Can't Stop," Cyrus says it's for and about her fans.
"They really believed in me the whole time," she explained. "I feel like this song really is for them and how I feel—that I can't stop and I'm going to be who I am and they should be who they are and that they can't stop and not one can stop us.
"It really is an inspiring song for my fans," Cyrus continued. "We don't care, we can do what we want."
And for those keeping score, yes, Cyrus was wearing her engagement ring. Her fiancé, Liam Hemsworth, is currently at the Cannes Film Festival promoting The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The cast of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. appeared at the Disney Media Networks International Upfronts last night at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California. It's been less than 2 weeks since ABC picked S.H.I.E.L.D. to series and it's already one of the most anticipated shows of the fall. Check out the cast's red carpet looks for the event below.
Only in Hollywood — and Cannes. At a party for Hunger Games: Catching Fire at the French film festival on May 18, star Jennifer Lawrence nearly, well, caught fire when a plate of candles, perched on a tall column, fell almost on top of her head!
PHOTOS: Jennifer Lawrence's early modeling shots
According to Just Jared, Lawrence and her costar Liam Hemsworth "were sitting on a sofa in the VIP section of the party when all of a sudden, an 8-foot column with a platter of candles on top fell on top of them. They both jumped up when it happened and thankfully no one was hurt. Liam and Jennifer both seemed pretty calm about it and laughed it off.”
While Lawrence avoided getting ignited, the 22-year-old stunner was still smoldering hot at the fest. The actress hit the premiere of Jimmy P. in a white and black strapless color-block gown by Christian Dior, naturally; Lawrence is the face of Dior. Jimmy Choo shoes, Chopard jewels, and bold makeup completed her red-carpet look. Later that night, at the Hunger Games party where she she nearly played with fire, the Oscar winner changed into a strapless white dress with a floral detail on the side, again by Christian Dior. Bright pink Manolo Blahnik stilettos added a pop of color.
January Jones has remained mum on the identity of her son’s father — and she intends to continue doing so.
“That’s my son’s business,” January told The New York Times of 1-year-old Xander‘s father. “It’s not the public’s business.”
And she says a Hollywood legend advised her to remain private.
“Jack Nicholson once told me: ‘You should never give your personal life away, otherwise people will pick you apart. They’ll never believe in your character,’” the Mad Men actress said.
“Women should have lots of secrets,” January added. “It’s our right to have secrets. Otherwise, what would we write in our memoirs?”
The blonde beauty went on to talk fashion. “Most of my choices are my ultramodern and very thought-out,” she said. But the red carpet, meanwhile, “I want to do things that are shocking,” she said.
In many respects she is still the small-town girl with Midwestern common sense.
“I wasn’t brought up with money,” she said. “I don’t think I’d spend more than $150 on a shirt.” She added: “I’m almost O.C.D.,” she said. “You will never find a piece of clothing on my floor. I can’t relax if I’m sitting in a mess.”
As for her sweet son, “His first word was ‘Mama,’ ” the proud mom said. “His second was ‘back,’ ‘cause I keeping saying, ‘Put it back.’ ”
In regards to consuming her placenta, she said, “It was like taking a vitamin blended into a smoothie. I’m a mammal. I nursed. I did all kinds of weird stuff.”

Michelle Stafford is leaving the long-running CBS soap The Young and the Restless after 16 years, a source close to the show exclusively tells E! News.
Stafford's exit follows the recent passing of beloved Young and the Restless star Jeanne Cooper, whom the show will pay tribute to with a special on Tuesday, May 28.
Nominated seven times for a Daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Leading Actress in a Drama Series category, Stafford took home the award in 2004. She also won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1997.
Stafford recently shot a retrospective video in honor of her show’s 40th anniversary (see clip below).
When she first started on the sudser, “I was actually told that I would be recurring and that I would only be on for six weeks,” she says in the spot, smiling. “But I knew in my mind that that wasn’t going to happen.”
Stafford played fan favorite Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless. After joining the show in 1994, she left in 1997 before returning in 2000. (Her role was taken over by Sandra Nelson.)
And This Is What It's Like to Be Lindsay Lohan's Assistant
In the summer of 2012, Gavin Doyle went from being a regular guy to the right-hand man for one of Hollywood's most hotly-pursued celebs: Lindsay Lohan. Now a photographer for Purple Magazine who's working on a book, he spilled the whole crazy-town story to us BY MOLLY TRIFFIN
You Have to Be a Human Alarm Clock
Lindsay's not exactly known for being the most prompt person in the world, and Gavin was the one who had to break the news to her producer and director when she was running late (every lost hour of filming bleeds major money from the film's budget). "There were a few times when they'd take it out on me," he said. "After awhile you don't want to seem like the person who's always making excuses." So to avoid getting bitched out, Gavin developed a complex system to wake LiLo up every morning and get her where she needed to be. In addition to setting multiple wake-up calls at the Chateau Marmont, where they were staying, he'd head to a bagel shop in Beverly Hills at the crack of dawn to get her favorite breakfast of bagels and eggs, turn on all the lights in her room, noisily pack her bag, and play top 40 music or indie rock from her iPod. "There were days when we'd shot for 18 hours and had to be on set five hours later and she was exhausted so she'd say, ‘give me 20 more minutes to sleep,'" Gavin says. "I bribed her with breakfast."
What a graduation present. On the day Skylar Diggins graduated from Notre Dame, she was presented with a new Mercedes by Roc Nation, the company founded by Jay-Z that represents her.
"I got 99 problems but a BENZ ain't one," a tweet on Diggins' account said, riffing off a Jay-Z hit.
Jay-Z was a former part-owner of theBrooklyn Nets, but he divested himself of that interest to start a sports-representation agency. Diggins is among his first high-profile clients, who also include the Yankees' Robinson Cano and Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz.
Diggins was an All-America guard for the Fighting Irish who was taken third overall in the WNBA draft by the Tulsa Shock.
Paris Hilton's boyfriend lost his composure and aggressively pushed a female fan who got too close to the heiress in Cannes on Friday ... not once, but TWO TIMES, and it was all caught on tape.
The scene was utter mayhem -- Paris and River Viiperi were fighting through crowds of paparazzi to get into a party ... when one overzealous female fan got too close.
River -- clearly pissed off -- got physical with the woman and forcefully shoved her away ... but the lady kept coming back for more. Paris finally snapped too and yelled at the woman to leave her alone -- but the woman didn't exactly comply.
Paris and River also went off on a security guard who tried to get handsy with Paris. Don't worry, the couple eventually made it to the party ... and balance was restored to the universe.
When actress Geena Davis was watching children's shows with her daughter a few years ago, she became so troubled by the lack of female representation, she started a think tank on gender in the media. The Geena Davis Institute recently partnered with University of Southern California professors to conduct analyzing gender roles and jobs on screen.
The good news? Prime-time television's pretty decent at depicting women with careers.
It seems like, to be a woman on a reality show you have to be either a: tits and ass, b: dumb as bricks, c: annoying as shit, d: bitchy and e: getting into fights with other women all the time (looking at you Jersey Shore and Real Housewives...). The way that producers manipulate certain things on different shows doesn't help either...
Jennifer Aniston has been the centre of pregnancy rumours in Hollywood lately, as she has looked to be giving hints to either her pregnancy or her attempts to fall pregnant. Body language expert Judi James gave EntertainmentWise her thoughts on Jen's hints as to whether or not the actress could actually be pregnant. The-Dream and Kelly Rowland are proving to be a dynamic duo. After their much-talked-about collaboration “Dirty Laundry,” which Dream penned, the two duet on “Where Have You Been” off Dream’s album IV Play.
The singer-songwriter finds true love on the tender ballad, which he will perform with Kelly this evening on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
“Just a signature R&B duet record, no games, no nothing, straight down the middle,” The-Dream tells Rap-Up.com of the record, which he co-produced with Da Internz. “It was a chance for me to bond with another friend now that I have, which is Kelly.”
In addition to Kelly, IV Play features Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Big Sean, Pusha T, Gary Clark Jr., and more.
It’s not the normalising of teenage pregnancy we need to worry about, it's the normalisation of blaming and disempowering young mothers, says Prymface, a former teenage mum who is fighting back against being judged.
You may have noticed a tweet or two in your timeline this month (if you're on Twitter) with the hashtag #NoTeenPreg. It was most likely followed by a plea for a celebrity to follow them, perhaps repeated a few times with desperation turning to anger that ‘said celeb’ had not followed back.
Some tweets are more imaginative asking celebs who is their ‘fave from One Direction’ or what nail polish they’re wearing, or ‘if they ever had a tattoo what would it be’, with the obligatory yet seemingly random pre-fix of #NoTeenPreg. If your choice of Twitter follows is somewhat questionable, you will find #NoTeenPreg tweets followed by a statement that ‘all teen mums are sluts’ or that they should ‘just stop spreading their legs’.
Some tweets accuse girls of stupidly ‘getting themselves pregnant’ to get on TV, advocating that there should be more shame to stop this MTV-induced ‘epidemic’. Other tweeters, perhaps more innocently, simply state that teenage pregnancy ‘makes them so mad’, or that they ‘had a cousin who was a teen parent and doesn’t take care of her kid’. The beginning of May soon saw the #NoTeenPreg trending on twitter, aptly signifying the start of the ‘National Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month’…
While you guys are mulling over who had the best hair and makeup look last night at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, how about taking some time to gawk at some pretty nail ideas spotted on Miley Cyrus, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Carly Rae Jepsen on the red carpet.
First up, we have Miley's gold sequined manicure:
Sparkly and fun for an awards show—though probably not practical for real life, since it would snag on your clothes.
Jeremy Renner is on daddy duty! The 42-year-old actor stepped out with girlfriend Sonni Pacheco and debuted their nearly 2-month-old baby girl, Ava, in L.A. on Sunday, May 19.
During the family outing, The Avengers star appeared to be very hands-on, carrying his daughter's stroller down a flight of stairs and getting her car seat in and out of the car. Pacheco pushed the stroller, where baby Ava was resting comfortably under a pink blanket, and showed off her slim post-baby body in dark skinny jeans and a gray tank top.
Us Weekly exclusively broke the news that Renner was expecting with Pacheco, and welcomed his baby girl on March 28.
"Jeremy Renner and girlfriend Sonni Pacheco have confirmed that they are the parents of a 7 lb. daughter Ava Berlin Renner," his rep later confirmed in a statement. "They are beyond thrilled. Mother and daughter are doing great."
The two-time Academy Award nominee has been busy filming American Hustle with costars Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale and Robert De Niro, but he seems to be finding time to spend with his baby girl. A friend of the actor previously told Us Weekly that "Jeremy will make a great dad!"
Last week only People magazine got the Angelina Jolie’s bombshell news on its cover before they went to print. All the other celebrity weekly magazine’s closed on Monday night (except OK! that goes to print the Thursday before)
Only People, with its later printing deadline, got in the Angelina news that she broke with the New York Times on Tuesday. So how did she sell?
“Early numbers show the Angie cover of ‘People’ sold 925,000 newsstands, which is great for them as they average 850,000 copies a week,” one weekly editor tells Naughty But Nice Rob. “It was nothing to get excited about. Considering they were the only entertainment weekly to have her we all thought they would sell more than 1,000,000 issues,” adds another.
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" ended 10 years ago on May 20, 2003. Yes, it's been a decade since the Slayer and the Scoobies closed the Hellmouth in Sunnydale, California.
Series star Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to TV opposite Robin Williams with "The Crazy Ones," a new comedy on CBS this fall. At the CBS 2013 upfront red carpet last week, Gellar was surprised by how much time has passed since she last wielded a wooden stake on TV.
"Wait, wait. Hold on. Really?" she replied when The Huffington Post told her the 10th anniversary of the "Buffy" finale was upon us. "Wow. God, you just blew my mind." Williams, who accompanied Gellar on the red carpet said, "It's kind of wonderful."
The Billboard Music Awards had a viewing audience of 9.47 million, a 28 percent spike over 2012's audience of 7.4 million viewers, Nielsen reported. The show was No. 1 Sunday night in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, pulling in 4.6 million viewers in the age group.
It's the highest ratings for the BBMAs in 12 years. Combined with the season finale of "America's Funniest Home Videos," ABC won the night with an overall rating of 3.1 in the 18-49 demo. All other networks were below 1.8. All numbers are part of Nielsen's "fast national ratings"; final numbers will be released later today.
In terms of the demo, the same number of people between the ages of 18 and 49 watched the Billboard Music Awards as last week's finale of "American Idol."
The night's other music program, "ACM Presents: Tim McGraw’ Superstar Summer Night" on CBS, was watched by 6.2 million viewers, with an audience of 1.53 million in the 18-49 group.
The demographic numbers for programs in May are important as they are used to establish advertising rates in the coming season.

Maybe he hasn't forgiven her after all. Before their maybe-temporary, maybe-permanent breakup late last week, Robert Pattinson and girlfriend Kristen Stewart fought bitterly for several days -- with Stewart's headline-making July 2012 fling with Rupert Sanders coming up again and again.
"All this stuff came up," a source close to Pattinson, 27, tells Us Weekly of the pair, who began fighting after the British actor blew off a birthday party planned in his honor by Stewart, 23. Dating for about three years, the Twilight costars bickered "about the cheating, about how selfish she always is, about how moody she always is," the source explains.
(Stewart and her Snow White and the Huntsman director Sanders, 43, were photographed making out in Hollywood last July. Although Stewart and Pattinson reconciled last fall, Liberty Ross, Sanders' wife and mother to his two kids, filed for divorce earlier this year.)
The source adds that Stewart's shocking indiscretion with Sanders was just one point of contention for the pair "It was a lot of issues that came up."
Time will tell whether the young couple will reunite. "[Rob] is so torn . . . They could get back together."
Yes! An entire collection of makeup paying homage to ‘The Hunger Games‘ will be rolled out by Covergirl. The brand announced their official sponsorship deal with the trilogy. ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire‘ will be the first film to be featured in the “exclusive makeup partnership.”
With inspiration ranging from Katniss’ natural beauty to the gluttonous Capitol mavens dripping with style, the line is due out in November.
Covergirl made the announcement this weekend. The teaser shows an outline of what we assume is Ms.Everdeen’s profile. The caption, “Coming to the Capitol This Fall” suggests the line will focus on a bold assortment of colors worthy of Effie Trinket.
Esi Eggleston Bracey, VP and General Manger Global P&G Cosmetics, confirmed the partnership…
“We wanted to redefine cosmetics’ relationship to film with a fantasy-meets-reality beauty experience. The Hunger Games-inspired Covergirl campaign coming out this fall truly will bring beauty transformation to life in an aspirational, dramatic fashion.”
The song becomes his sixth No. 1 on the radio airplay tally, pulling him even with Bruno Mars for the most leaders among males
Justin Timberlake ties the record for the most No. 1s (six) by a male on Billboard's Nielsen BDS-based Pop Songs radio airplay chart (which launched the week of Oct. 3, 1992), as "Mirrors" rises 2-1. He equals the sum of Bruno Mars, who tallied his sixth No. 1 last month with "When I Was Your Man." (Mars, meanwhile, debuts at No. 29 with his new single "Treasure," which he performed last night to open the Billboard Music Awards; all charts will be refreshed Thursday (May 23) on Billboard.com.)
