Tonight on AC360: Sexual misconduct allegations center around Ft. Hood sergeant [May0513]

By David Fitzpatrick and Drew Griffin
CNN Special Investigations Unit

KILLEEN, Texas—According to his own lawyer, military prosecutors are investigating accusations against a Ft. Hood sergeant once assigned to an artillery battalion at Ft. Hood, the nation’s largest military base.

Joseph Jordan told CNN that his client, Sgt. First Class Gregory McQueen, was suspected of “pandering” and that a military prosecutor had said McQueen is under investigation for prostitution. Jordan told CNN his client would “fight the charges” but also acknowledged that a military prosecutor had offered McQueen a deal, “if he would give up other members of the prostitution ring.”

No formal charges have yet been announced against McQueen but the incident is one of a string of recent accusations of sexual misconduct that have rippled through the American military. Most recently, an enlisted man at West Point was accused of taking photographs of women cadets while they were taking showers.

The program director of a woman’s shelter here in Texas told CNN that her organization had more than 1,000 domestic violence or sexual assault cases in 2012 and about a third of them involved soldiers at Ft. Hood. Suzanne Armor said that many women soldiers were fearful of reporting assaults because they were concerned such reports might adversely affect their military careers.

CNN Correspondent Drew Griffin will have more on these allegations tonight on AC360 at 8 p.m. ET.

Selena Gomez and Jaden Smith at Hakkasan in London

Kendall Jenner and Frances Bean Cobain exchange words over Twitter, Liv Tyler chats about changing beauty standards on red carpets, and Kim Kardashian gets ready to tell us her baby’s gender.

  • Former Disney star Selena Gomez made time to hang with actor Jaden Smith while in London. Doesn’t look like it was a date (she’s almost 21 and he’s only 14, guys), but Smith exhibited some very gentlemanly behavior when trying to shield Gomez from the paparazzi’s flashbulbs. [Us Magazine]
  • Kendall Jenner hit back at Frances Bean Cobain on Twitter, saying she’s well aware of her privileges and blessings. Cobain lambasted Jenner’s earlier post about wanting life to be “easier,” writing that the Kardashians’ little sister doesn’t have to deal with “famine, poverty,” and other ills. Wonder what the next move will be. [Daily Mail]
  • How times have changed. In a new interview, Liv Tyler wistfully recalls the carefree ’90s, when actresses could don movie premieres with little to no makeup and even go without bras. [Huffington Post]
  • Known for oversharing, the Kardashian clan is getting ready to reveal whether Kim’s baby is a boy or a girl, with footage straight from the examination room. Looks like you’ll have to watch Sunday’s season premiere of Keeping Up With the Kardashians to find out. [MTV]

Well, buckle up. VH1 Celebrity created a character map of all the major characters from all seven films. (Yes, we included the still unfilmed Fast Seven…because we love you.) Warning: Fast & Furious 6 Spoilers. [Click for Hi-Res]

Fast and Furious Character Guide

If you still don’t remember who everyone is then check out an extended guide below.

paulwalker

Brian O’Conner played by Paul Walker
Movies:
The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6
What’s His Deal?: Well, he’s one of the lead characters and has appeared in every film except the third. He started off as an undercover cop assigned to bust a tractor trailer hijacking/street racing/crime ring thing, but let the group’s leader, Dominic Toretto go because they became bromantically involved. Then, he and his friend Roman decide to go undercover to catch this drug lord named Carter Verone. Then, in the fourth film, Brian is an FBI agent and he’s supposed to track down this guy named Braga–whom Dom also wants to get. They become a team again. Also, Brian is in love with Dom’s sister, Mia. They are about to welcome a baby in Fast & Furious 6. He likes cars.

vindiesel

Dominic Toretto played by Vin Diesel
Movies:
The Fast and the Furious, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, Fast & Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6
What’s His Deal?: He’s an anti-hero, insomuch as he’s a good dude who believes in loyalty, but he breaks the law a lot. Like, he was stealing things in the first film, and in the fourth film, and in the fifth film and he’s always illegally street racing. The love of his life is Letty and he has a pretty sister that Brian likes named Mia. He’s a really good driver and mechanic (and thief). He likes stealing things and cars.

michellerodriguez

Letty Ortiz played by Michelle Rodriguez
Movies:
The Fast and the Furious, Fast & Furious,Fast & Furious 6
What’s Her Deal?: Letty is a badass chick and the love of Dom’s life. She’s also a really good driver and helps out on his schemes. In the fourth film, she is killed while working undercover for Brian. In the sixth film she is apparently back from the dead. She likes cars.

jordanabrewster

Mia Toretto played by Jordana Brewster
Movies:
The Fast and the Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious, Fast & Furious 6
What’s Her Deal?: Mia is Dom’s pretty, sort of ineffectual sister, and is the love of Brian’s life. Brian falls for her in the first film, but they break up because of the whole “undercover cop” thing, and then they eventually get back together and are expecting a child before the sixth film starts. She’s okay on cars.

rickyune

Johnny Tran played by Rick Yune
Movies:
The Fast and the Furious
What’s His Deal?: Johnny Tran is the first real bad guy of the series. He blows up Brian’s car and hates Dom for sleeping with his sister. He’s part of some organized crime syndicate and kills Dom and Brian’s friend, Jesse. Brian kills Johnny. He likes cars and crime.

First Dibs: How Did Dating Gwyneth Paltrow Make Brad Pitt More Humble? [May0513]

Is Seth Rogen really using Facebook to teach us how to roll joints? Which Now You See Me actress used Cannes to announce her pregnancy? Will Fast & Furious 6 race past The Hangover Part III at the box office?

  • Brad Pitt recently said that rather than tell strangers that he’s an actor, he prefers to be “humble” and say he’s “self-employed.” Apparently it’s a phrase he picked up from Gwyneth Paltrow‘s father back when they were dating, which explains why he it’s not actually a humble phrase at all. [US Weekly]
  • Seth Rogen just joined Facebook and rather than use it to post inspirational quotes or baby photos, he’s using it to show the world how to roll a cross joint. Yup. He really did. [Facebook]
  • amfAR had its yearly star-studded fundraiser at Cannes last night and Now You See Me starlet Melanie Laurent used the event to announce her pregnancy. The French actress has been quiet about her private life (no one even knows the name of her husband), so her pregnancy was even more surprising. [Daily Mail]
  • Both The Hangover Part III and Fast & Furious 6 open this weekend, but only one can reign supreme at the box office. Early indicators suggest that Fast & Furious 6 will come out ahead, but anything can happen. [MTV News]

Oklahoma father remembers his two daughters [May0513]
ac360blog

http://rss.cnn.com/~r/rss/cnn_ac360blog/~3/uQGE_KEpnHI/

http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/?p=129475

Phillip Vargyas lost two children in the Moore, Oklahoma tornado – Karrina, 4, and Sydnee, just 7 months old. His daughters were at home with their mom and grandma where they tried to ride out the storm in a bathroom. Vargyas' wife and mother-in-law were injured when the tornado hit.  He wants people to know what his daughters were like and shared a few happy memories on AC360.

4-year-old Karrina would have turned 5 in two weeks. After seeing her favorite Disney princesses ice skating recently, her father said she was inspired to become an ice skater. The family never got the chance to take Karrina to a skating rink, but her father told Anderson the family wants to go one day and remember her. "Whenever we take the kids and the wife we know she'll be there with us. And we'll enjoy it all the more knowing that she's there," he said.

As for 7-month-old Sydnee, her father affectionately called her his "Okie." That's because  she was his only child born in Oklahoma. Sydnee's father said this past Sunday, during another tornado, she crawled for the first time.  He smiled while talking about this lasting happy memory of her fearless attitude during the stormy weather.

The Vargyas’ have two older children who survived the tornado while taking cover at their school. The family plans to stay in Moore and rebuild. "We want to stay as close to the community that we were at when this happened," Phillip told Anderson. "I believe that in order for my kids to successfully make it through this we have to make the transition as seamless as possible. And the best way to do that is to keep them surrounded by the things they know most," he added.
