Channel _53 used to be a friends-only and personal (i.e. whiny) LJ. But then I started posting more and more bizarre nonsense and offbeat news links and oddities, and people liked it, so that's what it turned into. I can't stop; it's now like some sick addiction. I mean aside from my other existing sick addictions.

Writer's Block: Globetrotting

If you were given the opportunity to spend two weeks in any country in the world free of charge, which country would you choose, and why?

Mongolia. I don't know why. Probably because of throat singing and the series Long Way Round.

I've always wanted to go to Mongolia too. Different reasons - History, climate and because it's off the beaten path.

I have no desire to see France, Italy, etc. They are overrun with tourists all the time. But places like Mongolia, Siberia (in the summer) and Albania tweak my interest. I'll probably never get to any of them, but the thought is nice.

I think that's a large part of it too... it's not your typical tourist hotspot, you know? :)
