That reminds me, I was googling to look something up about Operation Save America (formerly Operation Rescue), and discovered that they had a registered sex offender picketing a gay pride parade. Because apparently being convicted of two counts of forcible rape on a minor still gives you the moral high ground over gay people.

LOL. Of course.

What I love the most is that a few years before that dude became a news story when his kid got arrested at a Terri Schiavo protest, my mom was looking at the Florida sex offender registry to see what registered sex offenders lived near us and he came up on the list because he lived less than 2 miles away. Anyway, she recognized his name from emails that she'd been forwarded about local prolife stuff, so she emailed her contacts and was like, "is this the same guy and do they know about it?" The reply that my mom got, which was presumably based on what he was telling people, made it sound like since he was 19 at the time, he was pretty much a victim of one of those overly harsh statutory rape laws, implying that the whole thing was really consensual. Except that it turned out when people dug up old newspaper reports that it wasn't remotely what happened, he actually was a vagrant crashing on people's couches on a college campus and broke into a dorm room where he raped the girl who was living there.

So basically, if he's still twisting the circumstances of his arrest to make himself look like a victim, I don't think he's even fully repentant for what he did. But oh, teh gheys, that's just an unforgivable abomination.
