The box. It didn't seem heavy at first, but about half a minute into carrying it, I was in pain. I nearly threw my back out. My neighbor buddy Atul was there to take pics. It weighs about 7 kilograms, or 15 pounds.

Unpacking it.

Here I'm stunned at just how big it is.

Neat shot with industrial, lol.

Here it is with my old desktop sitting in the corner. That desktop monitor is a 17 inch CRT, for comparison.

Setting up.

My wonderful fiancee Kim, being ignored while I'm being a delerious geek.

My friend Luke playing with my old desktop while I get used to Vista.

Internet's not hooked up yet coz the modem's XP installer and drivers don't work on Vista. The tech's coming over tomorrow sometime to fix it. I also got new speakers to replace my crappy dying old ones, and that was long overdue in itself.

I actually can't wait to work from home tomorrow night, what with this huge screen going easy on my eyes. I've been getting what I think is eyestrain from squinting at text for hours on end and it was starting to annoy / worry me. At any rate watching videos on it is just all sorts of awesome.

What this thing really is, is a bunch of desktop parts put together to form a very big, heavy laptop with some serious power at an unusually low price:

19 inch screen at 1440 x 900 pixel resolution
320 GB hard drive (pretty much the biggest hard drive you can get except for a VAIO that costs nearly $3,000 US)
Intel Pentium Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz
3 GB of RAM
Bluetooth, WiFi, USB 2.0, etc. etc.

tl;dr Marcus = teh happee :)

HP makes one called The Dragon, and it's got a 20 inch screen and two hard drives. It's really overloaded. Big laptops are kind of a niche market it seems :/

Yeah, but sadly they don't sell it here ;(

Still, Leviathan rocks my socks. Bye bye eyestrain from squinting at text all night long :D
