Those are gorgeous photos. I just love your sun shots.

Well, the computer screen not so much. That's some dull corporate. You have to listen and transcribe I take it? Whoa.

You mentioned in a more recent post that you were tested - Was it an accuracy test? How on earth did they do it? Random samples?

Well, someone else types it and I proofread it and research stuff to make sure the document is completely accurate. The company that gives us the work also proofreads the final document for errors. Usually they proofread a small part of the entire call and do an average type thing for the entire call and calculate it that way.

Normally a call is split up into small sections for multiple editors to proofread simultaneusly, but we're experimenting with giving some of the faster editors (me for one) an entire call to proofread at once. That's the test thing I was doing, but I don't know yet what the verdict is on that.

It does sound dull and boring but it pays incredibly well, and we get a lot of freedom (no dress code, flexible hours, incentives and stuff) that you normally don't get in your typical Indian job, so it's actually fun :)

I am totally and completely jealous! That does sound like a good job. What sort of research is typical?

I would love to do research. That would be a dream job for me.

Pretty simple research. For example if on the call, the dude says "our profits were ten million," you check the website and the related press release to be sure he isn't saying "ten billion" and it just sounds like million, to pick one example. We also check spellings and titles, stuff like that, aside from the usual perfect English and whatnot. It's not rocket science. But it has to be done quite quickly.

It sounds fantastic.

It's better than taking orders from Bubba-Sue for Pocket-Watch/Fishing-Rods combos.
