security [Mar. 24th, 2005|12:09 am]
Tuvok
The energy wave which impacted Voyager apparently emanated from a damaged ship containing one injured non-humanoid life form. I believe kathrynjaneway's decision to transport the injured alien to sickbay is unwise. As head of security, it is my duty to point out that we have had no opportunity to determine whether this unknown species may pose a threat to Voyager or the crew. I have dispatched a security team to sickbay and ordered a level five forcefield be activated around the life form's biobed. I have also secured the alien ship, which is now being examined by an engineering team led by Lieutenant paristorres.

Regeneration [Feb. 14th, 2005|07:48 pm]

Some considerable time has passed since I last made an entry in this Livejournal. My experience with the multiple personalities activated in Seven of Nine by the Borg vinculum was unsettling. I have devoted my recent off-duty hours to meditation exercises and the mental discipline of kal-toh in an effort to mitigate the effect of the mind-meld with so many disparate forms of consciousness. I believe my endeavors have been successful. I have also observed that Seven of Nine now appears completely recovered from her ordeal.

One [Apr. 24th, 2003|10:15 pm]

As expected, kathrynjaneway went against my advice regarding our recently acquired Borg drone. I fully comprehend her reasons, and I would not have anticipated any other action from her, but I still have concerns regarding the future of "One", as the drone has named himself. He has the Doctor's mobile emitter embedded in his cerebral cortex, rendering him several centuries more advanced than the Collective. If he was ever assimilated into the Hive mind, the Borg would become far more powerful than they are today.

Logic dictates that would be less than desirable.

seven_of_nine informs me that One is curious about the Borg, his "family". She expressed her concerns that he might not be able to resist the Collective, that he will be tempted to seek them out himself. It is possible that will be the case, but he does seem to adjust well to Voyager. However, that doesn't change the fact that the Borg, were they aware of his existence, would be very interested indeed.

On a different note, chakotay seems to believe I am the correct person to assist him in trying to ease the interaction between seven_of_nine and Lieutenant Torres (paristorres). As I am sure he is aware of, I do not concern myself with interpersonal communication that doesn't involve any security aspect.

Even if I were not above such actions, it would hardly be logical to attempt something so implausible.

Today's shoreleave [Apr. 15th, 2003|07:54 am]
Tuvok
Commander Chakotay approached me today, because of concerns about the Captain's safety during shoreleave. I believe his concerns were justified, especially considering her often reckless behavior. In fact, I did voice my own concerns when we first arrived at the planet, but, as many times before, she did not seem susceptible to safety issues. I believe her exact words were: "Lighten up and have some fun."

Some times I wonder how she has managed to survive all the "fun" she has had in the Delta Quadrant.

However, since I was scheduled for shoreleave as well, I decided to accompany the Captain in an unofficial capacity. I consider her my close friend, but unfortunately it seems that neither of us rarely have the possibility of spending time with the other. This was a convenient solution.

It was, as seven_of_nine might have put it, an "efficient" way of combining work and private.

[music |None. I am not interested in anything here.]

I received a memo requesting that I fill out this meme from Friday Five

1. What was the first band you saw in concert?
Vulcans do not have bands. I was forced to watch a band called The Tainted Tellarites while at Starfleet Academy.

2. Who is your favorite artist/band now?
I find the Vulcan harp performances of Selit Heer adequate for a non-Vulcan.

3. What's your favorite song?
The Protector's Lament is an excellent example of a work from Earth.

4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be?
After researching our database, Mr. Neelix asked if I would teach him to play the Deltan long flute, but I declined.

I wish that I could play my Vulcan harp. My wife has it at our residence.

5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why?

I would like to meet a present musical icon. On Vulcan. Perhaps in the next 40 years.

What is that odor? Not even Mr. Neelix's culinary efforts compare to this.

However, it seems to have cured my headache. Perhaps I should leave the Mess Hall and go to the bridge to perform a sensor sweep.

Weapon of minor destruction [Apr. 8th, 2003|07:53 pm]

[mood |contemplativecontemplative]

The Doctor advised me to take cold showers to alleviate the excruciating pain of my headaches. So far today I have squandered enough water to make even Mr. Neelix take notice.

I believe the most egregious insult he hurled at me was "Pruney".

I find myself thinking of Kes. Would that she had remained and used her newfound powers to hurl my nemesis 10,000 light years in another direction of space-time.

The next time the Borg threaten Voyager, I will arm a torpedo with a certain Talaxian and see what happens. No doubt the entire Collective would implode out of a sense of self-preservation.

May I point out that I am an accomplished pool player?

I have been studying the works of one of my Starfleet predecessors, Malcolm Reed. A brilliant person for a human.

This journaling technology is inefficient. I believe the monks at Ko-me-naw have perfected telepathic journaling, but the mortality rate is still not optimal.

Mr. Vorik has been staring at me in an inappropriate manner.

Neelix has as well, but that has been documented in my personal logs 3284232432 times.
