1 shotgun blasts | fire on it

[23 May 2005|01:10pm]
[ mood | bored ]

again, boredom leads to a livejournal update. life's going alright. next weekend marks the official beginning to the summer. so, in other words, maine tourist destinations will soon be packed with french canadians who don't tip and either don't give a shit about the locals or are just too dense to notice they're pissing people off. obviously i got into USM, but i still need to decide if i'm going or not. the longer i'm out of school, the more i think about not going back right away. i mean, why not live a little before i "buckle down" and become an adult. which will never fully happen anyways, but certain habits and the lifestyle i lead will eventually have to take to the back burner, making way for bills and responsibilities and whatnot. (not kids though. i don't really ever see myself giving enough shit to buy diapers and clothes and food instead of booze and drugs and music.)

i still have no license, but hopefully that will all be resolved in court. after this week, my legal troubles will be as taken care of as they can be, and i can start saving my money rather than pay for fines and tickets and reinstatement fees.

i should probably get a second job. maybe waiting tables or barbacking a few nights a week up in ogunquit proper. hopefully there are still positions available.

i'm always looking to get messed up after work, so if you have my phone number or aol, contact me after nine. i'll probably already be well on my way.

people are going to think that i'm crazy this summer. just like they did last summer. "how can you work so much?" "wow, don't you get tired of working that much?". no. not really. i put in thirty hours this past weekend and i'm ready to go back and work another thirty this weekend. sometimes to appreciate having to actually do things, you have to have absolutly nothing to do for a few months straight. also, when you work twice as many hours as your parents, they tend to leave you alone about alot of stuff. not that my parents have ever been strict, but i always have that trump card if they call me lazy. but, other than work, i don't see myself really doing much this summer. other than working all day and getting drunk for a few hours after i'm done. working gives you times to think, too. i've been thinking alot about what to do once the summer's over. go to usm, get back into the whole school thing, which i plan to do regardless, it's just a matter of when. or, take my savings from this summer and move somewhere. not like, florida or california. the only place in the states that i would move would be back to the City, possibly get a loft apartment in Brooklyn or Manhattan. I'd say Staten Island, but.. I'd want to live at Wagner or St. Johns, not in fucking St. George or Tomkinsville. The other possibility is moving somewhere where my money is worth alot. somewhere where i can live like a king on restaurant wages. somewhere third world. a friend just lived in a small coastal country in south america, for instance. for three weeks, he ate filet mignon every night. drank for almost nothing. did the best coke of his life. lived in a castle, for pete's sake. total amount spent, minus passport and airline ticket: $500. Five hundred fucking dollars. That is less than one weeks worth of work for me. I don't see how anyone can fault me for considering it.

But, I'll cross that bridge when I get there. For now, I work, get fucked up, and attempt to get laid. This'll probably be my last entry for a while, so, have a good summer, alot of you i'll probably see around. also, come down to billy's. i'm always there.

So, ever since i caught my little brother listening to the new Big & Rich single, I've been making him mix CDs of things that I listen to / think he'd like. Figure I'll plant the seed early and avoid any musical confusion in this kid's near future. Here's the latest one. Let me know what you think.

1. LCD Soundsystem - Daft Punk Is Playing at My House
2. Ladytron - Another Breakfast With You
3. Interpol - Evil
4. Handsome Boy Modeling School - The Worlds Gone Mad ft. Del tha Funkee Homosapien
5. The Faint - Let the Poison Spill
6. Elton John - Rocketman
7. Aesop Rock - Fast Cars
8. The Bravery - Honest Mistake
9. The Cooper Temple Clause - New Toys
10. Fischer cat. - creating a mixdown (shout out josh merrill)
11. Iron Maiden - Fear of the Dark
12. Guns N' Roses - Welcome to the Jungle
13. The Mars Volta - Drunkship of Lanterns
14. Modest Mouse - Bankrupt on Selling
15. Piebald - All You Need is Drums to Start
16. Moving Units - Going for Adds
17. The Pixies - Monkey Gone to Heaven
18. Sage Francis - Escape Artist
19. Simon & Garfunkel - Mrs. Robinson

maybe a little much for a 13 year old, but still better than Big & Rich.

as i've mentioned in the past dozen or so posts, barnacle billy's is opening soon, and i've come to a crossroads as far as my appearance. the shaggy mop that's graced my dome for the past four or five years is out of the question, so it's currently a pretty short faux-hawk. now either i can follow suit with the rest of the middle crew and get a crew cut (which would be pretty funny, especially if we made red arm bands with the Billy's logo on it), or keep growing out the front of my head to a lead singer of bravery-esque reverse mullet. so, what it comes down to is basically this.
ewan macgregor in trainspotting

or an ugly mess (but still short and somewhat tamed), like this gentleman:

let me know what you think. i can't make decisions like this on my own.

so, two weeks ago i found out that my license was suspended for two months for those bogus unpaid traffic violations i have in shaolin. but, at that point, the suspension had already been under way for a month and a half. so two weeks after i stop driving, i get my license back. sweet deal, seeing that i have to pick up my car from the shop today.

in other news, i'm still stuck between a rock and a hard place as far as school goes. wagner college won't release my transcript until my bill is paid. and that means that i can't apply for other schools until then, either. which sucks. i may try begging USM or UMO/F to let me apply without a college transcript, but i doubt they will. ohh well.

t minus 3 weeks until ol' barnacle billys starts again for the season.

also, i've been thinking of cutting my hair. short. like, ewan macgregor in trainspotting short. i can't remember the last time i didn't have a mop, so i think it's about time. opinions?

"the devil only exists because of your belief in him. same goes for that other guy."

if anyone's interested, i got some new music. (thanks mostly in part to chris (boyrobots) finally turning his fucking soulseek on.)

bloc party - bloc party
animal collective - sung tongs
okkervil river - down the river of broken dreams
the mars volta - frances the mute
yaphet kotto - we bury our dead alive
yaphet kotto - syncopated synthetic laments for love
beck - sea change
broadcast - haha sound
cooper temple clause - kick up the fire, and let the flames break loose
the bravery - the bravery

i don't know why i waited so long to listen to bloc party. the album is actually somewhat decent. also, i'm glad i finally tracked down the bravery album. go see them in concert! it's good!

i haven't heard a couple of these albums. comments on whether they're good or not. i probably won't care but a few responses might be interesting.

so, james eddy's was fun. six dudes, six hours, sixty beers, eight blunts, four bowls, eighteen sausages, and three god damned fish. also six massive hangovers. haven't been doing much. went to seabrook, bought a new piece. old habits die hard i guess. figured that i was out of the whole smoking stage, but living in maine will turn you back into a stoner in no time. billy's starts in about a month, which means that there'll be something to do, and i'll have money in my pocket. which is always a plus. also, i found a few CUNY schools in the city that might work out to be cheaper than umo, and definately a hell of alot cheaper than wagner. so things might be looking up.
