So I found out that I wasn't good enough to be hired by the police department. I've been crying for the last 90 minutes since I found out. :(

Now I get to wait to get a terrible letter in the mail that says how much I suck and how I wasn't picked for a position.

I want my background investigation to be done ASAP.

They keep asking me for all kinds of documentation from NYS regarding the unemployment money I received.

I know I went over this with my investigator and I spent like $3.00 in stamps mailing this huge envelope of information over to her.

Hopefully this is all I need and all my footwork for them will pay off in the form of a job.

Geez.. and I thought that I stayed out late last night. SOMEBODY was out til 5 am. Wonder who that could be?

HMM?

and well, today was supposed to be a "We'll do whatever you want to do today" but apparently the fact that I am working today was forgotten and he is going to a recruit's house to practice for their upcoming tests in about a half hour. You would think that I'm not going to NY next weekend? So much for spending time together on the weekends.

I was excited to be 12 and play Sims 3 and the fucking shit won't install. It gets like, 1/10th of the way through and freezes. I tried 3x and restarted my computer and all that and still NOTHING. Now I have to go back to Target and try and new disc. UGH.

I guess if that doesn't work I am going to try and sell this game to some idiot on Amazon.

Oh NYS... would you have tried to screw me if I weren't honest? Why is that the honest people get screwed over. If they stop paying me I'm screwed. Can't afford shit out here with no job.

February 19th, 2009; 8:58pm]
I have had soooo many interviews this week I don't know what to do with myself. My first 2nd interview tomorrow and I even have job-related shit on Saturday. Everything is coming at me all at once. It's insane. I've been on waaaaaaay too many interviews to NOT get anything and so far that is all I've gotten.

argh.

I get to make dinner for our new friends on Sunday. That should be fun. lol

I don't really have much else to say... Jon is watching Scarface and I want to go to bed even though it's only 9 here. lol

Vegas here we come [Wednesday
January 7th, 2009; 8:33pm]
So we are leaving for Vegas tomorrow afternoonish when Jon gets back.. from Vegas. Man oh man. I have been packing like you have no idea. It sucks and I am running out of bins and boxes to put shit in.

We are just going and hoping for the best since they do not have his test results in. Worst case is we spend over 3 grand to travel the length of the country twice and we come back to our old jobs that our employers are keeping for us until we know for sure.

Talk about stressful.

Boo.

I never write in this thing anymore. I guess I've kind of grown out of it or just become too busy with life to bother.

Regardless of that fact, I am preparing to not have the internet for a while as I am tentatively moving on the 8th to Las Vegas... Crazy, I know.

I won't know for sure if I am moving until the 6th, which is soon.

Haven't really said bye to many people because there is a small chance I might be seeing them again in the next few days. It's VERY weird.

What's worse is the guilt tripping. My mom will NOT stop although a few months ago she was looking to get rid of me. Now she is complaining that she has to take care of the dog all the time. So then I should take him 2500 miles and pay a $400 nonrefundable deposit and an extra $30 a month in rent? PLUS vet bills and grooming and shit. Jon is the only one who is going to have a job at first when we move so how am I supposed to pay for the dog?

I swear sometimes she doesn't think.

The Controversial Survey

[01] Do you have the guts to answer these questions and re-post as The Controversial Survey?
I think so.. I already pre-screened the questions before I decided to post it.

[02] Would you do meth if it was legalized?
Uh... no. That would be stupid. And if you want to be someone in life, it's not a good idea to do drugs.

[03] Abortion: for or against it?
Neither but I don't think that it should be made illegal.. certain types of abortions should not be allowed, which is the way it is now. But if you take away the rights of a woman and dictate what she can and can't do with her body, well, then, I think that's a problem. People make certain decisions for certain reasons and yeah.. it needs to stay legalized.

[04] Do you think the world would fail with a female president?
If McCain got elected and died shortly thereafter and that psycho conservative witch from the west got hired, then we would be totally fucked. Now, I think it would be possible for a woman to be president, she would just have to be qualified. Now show me a qualified woman candidate and I will decide if I like her or not.

[05] Do you believe in the death penalty?
Yes and no. There are pros and cons to killing people who deserve to rot in prison for life. For one, if we kill people rather than keeping them in jail for 50 years, we save a lot of money.. but then we're not really proving anything or making the person suffer if we just kill them. So.. I'm torn on this one.

[06] Do you think Marijuana should be legalized?
I honestly don't care.. I don't use it and don't really bother with people who do so I don't see how it would/could affect my life at all.

[07] Are you for or against premarital sex?
Do what you want, just don't be an idiot.

[08] Do you believe in God?
Show me him and I might believe.

[09] Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
Sure. Love is love and why should we deny people who, by the way, are Americans, the rights that straight Americans enjoy. Who cares why or how someone is gay. Just get over it and move on. It's not really a big deal. Just respect these people, because, THEY'RE PEOPLE.

[10] Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are illegally moving to the USA?
They are basically doing all of the jobs that normal Americans don't want to do but I guess our country could use a little help on our borders. Plus it's so hard to find these people and then when we do, they don't want to leave.

[11] A twelve year old girl has a baby, should she keep it?
That's up to her.

[12] Should the alcohol age be lowered to eighteen?
There would probably be a problem with this in that 18 year olds are still in high school so there's a good chance more of them would be driving around drunk and going to school, etc. Although, when I was in school, the drinking age didn't stop any of them from doing what I mentioned earlier. Kids are going to drink no matter what the drinking age is. End of story. Do what you want with the age.

[13] Should the war in Iraq be called off?
As far as this is concerned.. we need to do what we need to do to patch shit up and get out.. There was no reason why we even went there in the first place. We need to focus more on Afghanistan and other places where there REALLY are threats.

[14] Assisted suicide is illegal, do you agree?
To some extent I guess. The problem with making it legal is the whole consent thing. If a person is in a lot of pain and not in their right mind, they might think it would be better to die. But who knows where modern medicine will take us in the future and scientists are coming up with more and more solutions to things every day. I understand the whole dying with dignity thing but I just feel like this will give people more opportunity to sue hospitals and doctors.

[15] Do you believe in spanking your children?
Well I used to get hit all the time when I was a kid. Not that I was abused or anything but it's just how it worked. I was a pretty impossible kid and if I were my parent, I'm sure I would have resorted to the same behavior. Not sure what I would do if I were in the situation myself. I guess I will just have to see what happens to me in the future.

[16] Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
I probably wouldn't really care at all. I'll have you know that when I was a kid in girl scouts, I dropped the American flag on the floor. I hope the president comes to find me for that one. That's a big no-no apparently.

[17] Who do you think would make a better president? McCain or Obama?
I am voting for Obama. If you want to talk politics, hit me up.

[18] Do you think Obama will be killed?
I really hope not. I'm excited about the things he could accomplish while president

[19] Should child predators be forced to wear signs identifying themselves?
No, but I hear they get abused in prison. That shit is just not tolerated. I am pretty sure if this signs thing were put into law, there would be a lot of everyday people going to jail for "taking matters into their own hands."

[20] Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
I could care less to be perfectly honest.

Oh.

I guess I forgot to mention that the temp job I had at the District office for Best Buy was made into a real position that I did not get.

I've been working back at a shitty store for the last month+.

Great way to use my college degree!

Hooray for being a failure at life.

The end.

So

It's 3 am and I'm posting an entry to my livejournal?

Why now, you might ask. Why is Karissa even up at this hour and why should I care about this entry?

Well, I'm up at this hour because I am stuck at Reagan National Airport, aka DCA in good 'ole Washington, DC.

And why should you care? Well, you don't have to, but, since it's impossible to sleep with blasting elevator music and bright lights, I thought I would at least kill some time with an LJ post.

So why am I in DC, you might ask.

Well... a couple weeks ago I was called by the Postal Inspection Service to come down to Potomac, MD to participate in an assessment center. I had applied for the job back in October and got through all the steps previous to the ones that occurred the other day.

Well.. I passed all of the parts on Monday and yesterday, Tuesday. The first day was a bunch of job-related tests that were actually pretty fun. I like detective work.

Tuesday was a polygraph exam, which, I can tell you... is DEFINITELY an experience. I had nothing to hide by my God.. it makes you feel like you do even when you don't.. and it hurts like hell because you have a blood pressure cuff on your arm and it is SUPER tight.

So anyway, after that, I checked out of the training center (which doubles as a hotel/conference center for other people and organizations) and had lunch, brought my rental back and got to the airport around 2, even though my flight was scheduled at 5:45.

So, as you know, I'm stranded at the airport.. but I didn't find out I would be stranded until after 9 pm... and at that point, every outgoing flight was booked with people who were ahead of me in the flight rescheduling line.

So lucky me gets to sit here on this bench until my plane boards at 7:20.. I'll arrive in White Plains around 9 at some point and my fiance should be there to pick me up. Oh yeah, I got engaged last month in case anyone cares..

anyway... my bags.. well, they are likely in Philly and hopefully they make it to Newburgh (which is where my final destination was SUPPOSED to be tonight- so much for that)

Oh, and the reason why we didn't take off? Rain in Philly.. who would have thought with all of the advancements we have made in technology that a little rain would keep planes from landing. YEAH... NOT me. What a bunch of shit.

Anyway.. that took up about 12 minutes. I guess I'll go back to playing Mahjong or something.
I wish that the internet here at the crap airport didn't cost $3 an hour. Talk about BS.
