LJ Idol Topic Week 2 – “Um…”

This week in my latest writing endeavor we were given our choice of 4 topics submitted by competitors from previous seasons and none of them were easy for me. (See here for all four choices.) So after my initial 2-day “wtf” brainstorm I kept coming back to my knee-jerk response to “Um…”. So here it is, but a little background first.

Tighe or Bean-Tighe Faeries are Irish in origin and are what is considered a ‘domestic faerie’ in that they commonly tend toward household chores and are notoriously fond of strawberries and cream.

Oh, and they happen to be deathly afraid of cats. I don’t know why..

And if your initial googles for tighe or bean-tighe faeries seem to imply they are mostly female, I completely disagree with that. :)

LJ Idol Topic - Week 1

Put On Your Red Shoes and Dance the BluesCollapse )

This story is part of a writing 'intersection' for this season of therealljidol. My partner in crime this week was the awesome belleweather. You can read her half of the intersection HERE. We were given the task of intersecting the topics of "You gave everything you possibly could" and "Chillin' Like a Villain". Definitely a challenge!

I need a challenge..

It's time to get back into some regular writing and I'm hoping my competitive edge helps fuel the fire.

LJ Idol, Week 1 - Here there Be Dragons

(( Bing & Lambert are tiny faeries (Tighe Faeries) and are about 2" tall with bulbous potbellies and nearly hairless little heads. They are identical twin brothers and have a deathly fear of cats. Just sayin'.))

Weeks ago, Prince Leopold had slain the vile dragon that had been terrorizing the realm for more than a fortnight and the celebration at the palace showed no signs of waning. Read more...Collapse )

I'm in. :)

You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll buy the t-shirt, make some friends and hopefully learn something about yourself from the experience. Above all though you will write, read some incredible writing, and meet some pretty cool people from the process - and after all isn't that what LJ is about?

I have a couple of friends who have participated in this in the past and I guess now the present too, and I'm intrigued enough to give it a try. I'm a total noob and have no idea how it plays out exactly, but if you're reading this and it sounds remotely interesting to you, come keep me company! :) You people like to write! Bring it!
