It has been one thing after another!

My mom's asthma got really bad, and she spent almost a week in the hospital.:( She's doing better now, but still not 100%.

I've been having more aches and pains lately. :/

So I just found out Green Day is playing in Detroit September 24th! A little more notice might have been nice, guys. Anyone want to go? (I'm trying to talk my mom into going, since she likes them too.)

I am *so* ready for hockey. Tired of summer.

Randomly, I really hate auto-play videos.

So last night I was reading this article on possible names for the new Las Vegas NHL team:

And so it likely will be Desert Hawks, Red Hawks, Nighthawks, Desert Knights, Silver Knights or Golden Knights. We think.

and reading those possibilities, I thought, 'they should be called the Night Knights!'

...I'll show myself out.

So what have I been up to lately? Not much.

I sleep a ton - not only because lupus & fibro cause fatigue, but some of my many meds do, as well.

And I get blood drawn every other week, because I've been on blood thinners since the clot last year. (Hopefully I can stop them soon.) And my docs order blood tests for various other things, too. Lately my potassium has been slightly low, so that's been checked. I've gotten to know the ladies who work at the local lab quite well.

...Okay, I'm typing this on my tablet, and a bug just crawled across the screen. Ew ew EW!

And killing it with a kleenex cause me to accidentally close this tab, and I lost half of this entry I'd typed. Sigh!

Anyways, I'm in pain a lot - my lower back/hips hurts when I stand or walk for more than a few minutes. Nothing (including meds) seems to help, only sitting down makes it stop. I take a walker with a built-in seat whenever I go somewhere without chairs. I use a scooter at the grocery store. My docs don't seem as concerned as I am. The longer I stand, my legs get weaker & I'm afraid I'll fall & be unable to get up. :( It sucks, I WANT TO WALK. I'm looking into tai-chi & maybe pain shots.

I am excited for the Olympics, even though they are a bit of a hot mess this year.

I read a lot of cozy mysteries - well, when I'm not reading fanfic. ;)

So what are you up to?

I'm TOTALLY into the new FOB song for the Ghostbusters soundtrack! And Missy Elliott too!

I need FOB to tour more. They only came to Grand Rapids last time, not the Detroit area, so I missed them. And I missed seeing them when they were in Detroit the time before that. :(
I *did* see them 3 times in 2014, though!

Lately I've been really into '90s pop music. Stuff from my teenage years. Ahh, nostalgia.

Fic-wise, I've been into tentacle fic in Hockey RPF. (::Judges self::.) Though, it's not like this is my first foray into tentacle-land (hello, Harry Potter!) but it's been a while.

I don't know why I felt the need to mention that. I just like to share.

So I *want* to be excited about the Independence Day sequel, but all the reviews have been really bad. :( I'm so bummed, because ID4 is one of my favorite movies ever. Hmph.

I guess that's all for now. I think I'm gonna go make chocolate-cake-in-a-mug.

So! What have I been up to, you may wonder?

Well, at about this time last year, I spent a total of three weeks in the hospital. (Three different visits, two different hospitals.) I had a (very small!) blood clot in my lung, a.k.a. a pulmonary embolism, and my heart was not functioning like it was supposed to. (My ejection fraction was 17%, it's supposed to be at least 50%.)

Thankfully, after that and a bunch of new medications, I am doing much better now. :)

My family is doing well, too. My mom is still getting maintenance treatment for her cancer (Herceptin,) and her last scans have been clear. And my dad is planning on retiring this October - which is kind of weird, because he's *always* worked. He still wants to get a part-time job after he retires, though! He's 70 years old!

I am still into hockey and Fall Out Boy, of course.

But how are you? Even though I wasn't posting, I kept up with my friends list for a while, and then I even stopped doing *that*. ::Is disappointed in self::. I hope to do better now. I'm still on Twitter @_mydecember_, and Tumblr @getintothesun.

Wow. I can hardly believe it's the end of the year already. Good riddance to 2013, I say.

We had a big ice storm on the 21st that knocked out our power for one day, and our cable TV and internet til the 26th. It was very boring and I read a lot of books.

Christmas was fine. Just hung out with my parents all day. :)

Today I spent the day watching the Winter Festive Alumni hockey games. Detroit won both of them, yay! Then I ate pizza. (And by "ate," I really mean "stuffed myself with.")
Tomorrow is the big outdoor hockey game at Michigan Stadium. Am super excited to watch it!

FOB is on ABC's NYE show tonight, and P!ATD is on the Fox NYE show. So I'll be checking those out.

Community is back on Jan. 2nd!

Hope you all are doing well, and that 2014 is the best year yet for everyone!

So I kind of fail at posting? And also at being an adult, and at life in general. I am a failboat. Sorry.

Things are mostly the same.

The most exciting thing I've done lately was to go see FOB & P!ATD in September! Very awesome, one of the best FOB shows I've been to.

Hockey is making me happy. I'm super excited for the big Red Wings - Maple Leafs outdoor game on Jan, 1st, the Winter Classic.

I am going to try to post more. I want to, but things just get stuck in my head a lot and never make it on to LJ. I need to get back in the habit of posting.

So I was going to post in June, and then suddenly it was July, and I was all "oh, I *have* to post this month!" and now it's August, so you can see how well *that* worked out.

Life keeps happening.

My mom: at first they thought her cancer was her breast cancer come back, only this time in her lung, but then they said no, it was a different cancer entirely. So that sucks. She's been undergoing chemo and has been quite the trooper.(Her arthritis is really bothering her too, which seems extra unfair.) Please keep her in your thoughts/prayers.

Me: have seen a variety of specialists. Definitely have lupus, with a bonus of Shrinking Lung Syndrome (a.k.a. Vanishing Lung Syndrome) which is very VERY rare. Basically I'm not getting enough oxygen. Am supposed to do pulmonary rehab at some point.

Also: have to have my two remaining wisdom teeth removed on Sept. 3rd. BLEH! :P

Might have jury duty this month, too. :P

BUT! I see FOB *and* P!ATD next month! :D

You can always find me on Twitter (same username as here) and Tumblr (getintothesun is my main Tumblr, surgebsb is my Tumblr for hockey feels.)

Today is my birthday! I turn 31 today, which seems *so* much older than 30. My mom is busy making me the traditional chocolate cake. :)

Last week on the 22nd I went to see FALL OUT BOY! (with apartment_19 and sam_i_am_not_2.) It was *AMAZING*. One giant happy sing-a-long. The band was full of smiles, Pete told the audience we were "fucking cute," the crowd was older than before (4 years makes a difference! It was nice to be surrounded by fellow adults,) and at the end we were sore and sweaty and hoarse voiced and content.

Hockey is currently stressing me out. I don't want to talk about it. (GO WINGS!!!)

That is all for now. How are you?

Welp, it's the last day of 2012. Here's hoping 2013 is a better year for all of us!

Health update: possibly feeling a little less pain? Wonder which of the two new meds are helping. Also, in January I'm going to see a special specialist at U of M about my breathing.

There is still no hockey. ::Insert grumpy face here::.

Guess what, it's December 19th! This is when I listen to MCR's cover of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" every year. It's a silly little tradition, but it's mine.

So how are you? Tell me, I really do want to know.

Still packing. Still very stressed. Close to being done, though. :P Moving sucks.

Health wise, I've been to see the rheumatologist again, and he has me taking Lyrica now. After a month on it I didn't notice any improvement, so he just upped my dose. Yay? Also, I may have fibromyalgia in addition to/instead of lupus.

Good news: I'm done taking steroids! They didn't seem to be helping my breathing, but they did make me gain weight & look puffy.

So basically, I still have breathing problems and pain. Things are the same.

I've been watching Elementary (it's pretty much the *only* TV I've been watching,) and I really love it. Come talk to me about it!

I need the NHL lockout to end ASAP. I MISS HOCKEY.

How is November OVER already?! Seriously, someone please explain that to me.

Health update: same ol', same ol'. :P

Life update: I am ridic broke, and so I'm moving in with my parents. Really not happy about this, but what can I do. It's *hard*, though. Especially since I've lived in the same house for my entire life. :(
And I've only got til the end of the month to finish packing up all of the things, because my dad's already found renters for my house. Thankfully the wonderful apartment_19 came to help me pack yesterday. <3 It had been *way* too long since I saw her.

apartment_19 and I also discussed our hockey feels. Hockey was practically the only thing we talked about, in fact. Not sure what that says about us.

Also, if the lockout doesn't end soon, I will cry. I'm serious about that. Maybe.

I finally saw the pilot episode of Elementary, and I think it's pretty awesome!

I'm super disappointed that Community won't be back for a while.

Here is an article on The Hush Sound that talks about them reuniting and working on new music. My reaction to this can basically be described as: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to get up early to pack more, (ugh ugh UGH,) so that's all for now.

Medical update: still taking steroids, but less now. Breathing is very slightly improved. Sleep schedule is incredibly screwed up. I see the rheumatologist on the 17th, so I'll know more then.

My computer is still broken, SIGH. Will hopefully take it in for repairs this week.

The new Matchbox Twenty album is out and I don't have it yet. This makes me sad.

New Billy Talent album is out Sept. 11th, new Green Day is Sept. 25th.

I am going to be so, so pissed if there's a NHL lockout. Give me my hockey, damnit!

*Hopefully* apartment_19 and I will be going to a Wings/Hawks preseason game on the 27th. Am super excited! Especially since I've *never* been to a hockey game before, and always wanted to go. (And also because apartment_19's and my current OTP is Hawks players Toews/Kane. ::Judges self::.)

This is my current favorite thing: "They Won’t Magically Turn You Into A Lustful Cockmonster": Chris Kluwe Explains Gay Marriage To The Politician Who Is Offended By An NFL Player Supporting It

(Even more delightful is Kluwe's 'no swearing' follow up. UNFORTUNATELY PHALLIC HEDGE SCULPTURE.)

Health crap: had to stop taking my new medicine because it made me break out in hives. I see the rheumatologist again in a few weeks.

Saw lung doc; he put me on steroids for two weeks, of which I'm halfway through. Had to take less than originally prescribed, though, because they made me incredibly jittery and I couldn't sleep at all.

In short: BLEH!

Anybody want to go see TBS in Detroit Oct. 7th? They're playing TAYF front to back!

I was pretty much in love with the Olympics, which is no surprise. (Though I was quite annoyed by NBC's craptastic coverage.) I want it to be the Olympics every year!

I am completely behind on all my summer TV watching.

Oh, and I'm writing this on my parents' computer because mine decided it didn't want to turn on anymore. Am hoping it's a cheap fix.

Okay. I meant to update more this month, but things kept happening. I'll do better. And comment more, too.

So, I can't be on Twitter 24/7, obvs. So sometimes I go and read through individuals peoples' Twitters to see the tweets I missed. I mention this because I found some incredibly delightful things today!

Reasons why I love Pete Wentz, #1,493 & 1,494:

"petewentz: the laugh track in the first season of Sports Night makes me want to barf. please put west wing on netflix streaming..."

Pete watched Sports Night. PETE WATCHED SPORTS NIGHT!!! One of my favorite shows ever! I may possibly be a little excited about this! (And that laugh track annoyed me too.)

Also delighful:
"petewentz: Watching fob live in Phoenix DVD I realize I am Patrick's annoying girlfriend onstage- always hugging on him and whatnot. I'm the worst."

Pete, you're pretty much Patrick's annoying girlfriend offstage, too.

Also also, appropriate icon is appropriate. :)
