I got up at 5am and started shoveling. Yay, the joys of living in a house instead of an apartment? Carved out a path from the front porch up along my driveway to the main lane (really just a slightly larger dirt driveway) that goes to the main road. Texted boss to find out the game plan (as he lives up the lane on the top of the hill and has the truck and snowplow tractor). He declared it a snow day, I said oh good, I'm going back to bed until the sun comes up. Which I then didn't - I did sit for two hours and clean up my Win10 laptop (Balthier) however. Got Inkscape and FRAPs installed, found a mostly free (demo-ish) video editor, uninstalled a lot of crap that came on the computer to start with, and then uninstalled and fresh installed WoW since I just can NOT get WMV or the other Machinima model extractor programs to work with it any more. None of them could find my WoW install - turns out I had, like, three duplicates between the PTR and Legion and an old copy of MoP. >_< No wonder they were confused. And hey, it freed up space on my harddrive.
By then it was 8am and there was daylight, so I went out and did another round of shoveling. Yeah, my back sort of aches today. =P Boss came by later with the tractor plow and nicely cleared out a path to my car so I could clean that off. Our dog, who has never seen snow so deep it brushes his belly, was not sure WTF and for once didn't resist being dragged back inside every time he went out to pee.
I spent most of the day playing Minecraft while WoW was installing. For anyone playing the Skyfactory3 map, here's a hint - Endermen infestations are a bitch. The bastards, no joke, picked up and made off with FIVE of my magmatic generators while my back was turned. Make Ender Tethers and slap those things down near your mob farm to keep them pinned down and not roaming around stealing stuff. (FIVE generators! Those things aren't cheap to make, dammit!)
Now I'm getting into the Chisels & Bits mod. Omg. Being able to reshape minecraft blocks pixel by pixel? I'm in love. ^____^ (Also, I love having enough resources now in Skyfactory that I don't hesitate to build with solid blocks of lapis and gold as decorations. I've successfully come a long way from the one-tree-and-one-piece-of-dirt start.)
I need a minecraft icon or something. Maybe the screencaps I have of the Pandaria Shrine I built, that was pretty.
Today's it's back to work, the roads are successfully cleared and the Marc train is running like normal. I'm freezing at work, but that's par for the course - they keep it like a refrigerator. =P
I am averaging 700+ words a day written since the beginning of the month (yay!), and I am slightly frustrated because I now have one entire fic and 3/4 of another one finished, and can't post either of them yet because I'm writing all out of order. >_< I mean, yes, the OC Pandaren fic series has been out of order since the start, but in this case these two really need to be in order because they won't make sense otherwise. Boo! I'm really hoping to get the one that needs to be posted first done soon.
I also realize that if I hung out in a group like we used to have on LJ/early DW, where we all talked writing all the time, this would already have totally spun OC. Technically, I'm writing WoW fanfic, but my characters are 9/10ths OCs (our player characters), my canon characters get very little on screen time and are headcanoned several firm steps to the side of the glimpses we get in canon, and let's face it, mostly it feels like writing fic for a tabletop RPG where you just take the general shape of the world from the rules and then run with it. I'm dabbling much more heavily into politics appropriate for the world tech/magic level, and the pseudo realities of how said tech and magic works, than we ever see in game. I could probably easily spin it into original fantasy, but the drive to do that isn't there yet. I'm not sure if I miss that drive or not.
In other news, I have a Picarto.tv channel. I've been streaming - usually around 8 or 9 PM US eastern time - while I mess around re-learning how to digitally ink on a tablet, and in a program that's new (paintstorm studio) since I don't have photoshop on my laptop. It's very rough (both the stream and my doing art) but over the last week I've progressed from "I can only draw for twenty minutes without getting hand cramps" to "oh, has it been an hour already?", so that's really good. Getting the hand muscle tone back. I haven't pimped the channel at all and my dragon is the only one who watches it. Our internet is such that it lags a good bit (what I do on screen doesn't show up on the stream until 30-60 seconds later) so there's no chat or sound, just a screencast of me messing around. I want to finish inking the pic I'm working on (yes, it's taking a week just to do ink lines, I'm very out of practice) but I might start announcing streaming times on tumblr when I start trying to paint colors.
