I recorded three songs. Under the name "Palm Yard" because there's a palm in my yard.

Check them out! Be my friend.

Still here. [Sep. 13th, 2008|02:28 am]

[music |Wipers]

Tonight I accidentally let a wine bottle roll off of Suki's rooftop and then I got a phone call from Dean saying "MOUSE MOUSE MOUSE" as in our trap worked and the mouse that had been eating our bananas was dead. I sprinted home and put the dead mouse+trap into an empty 12 pack of pabst and dropped it off in a trashcan 2 blocks away. Kind of like walking the green mile, right?

Waltzing with the open sea. [Jul. 26th, 2008|04:49 pm]

I don't know which version of Clam, Crab, Cockle, Cowrie by Joanna Newsom is better. They're both fucking flooring. I am overwhelmed by her delivery, her lyrics; the phrasing of all the music is just so slow and deliberate in the one off of Milk-Eyed Mender and the version on the Ys Street Band EP is the boldest thing she's ever recorded in my opinion. They both put the listener in his or her respective place. There's a sense in both songs that Joanna is real and nothing more - the microphone pops and hisses with the instruments and her voice being placed too close - it is this, well, error that allows the listener to really sit within the song.

She sounds so out there sometimes, but sometimes I'm unable to find anything more accessible on the inside.

Ed Kranepool [May. 6th, 2008|01:03 am]

[music |Okkervil River in Concert: 09/30/2007 - NPR]

New York Mets first baseman Ed Kranepool was asked if the Mets had a chance of winning the World Series before the 1969 season started. He said "The Mets have as much of a chance to win the World Series as Man has of landing on the Moon."

"He's only seventeen and he runs like he's thirty." -Casey Stengel, on why he kept Kranepool on the bench in 1962.

How Yo La Tengo got their name.

Hello internet friends and enemies alike,

I caved and bought a flickr pro account. I just uploaded all 157 polaroids that I've ever scanned! I will try and scan more stuff soon and get it up there. Also, older digital stuff of varying quality and importance.

Check it out!
