Remember remember the 5th of November!!! It's bonfire night... woohooo... BUT chelle no get to celebrate! Here in the US, obviously they don't celebrate bonfire night. I've never been outside of the UK for bonfire night before so i guess i've always taken it for granted, and to be honest i've never really though that much of it. Sure as a kid i used to get excited about seeing the fireworks etc but i've never really thought of it as anything that special but now i don't have it i really miss it and I feel very British today as a result. Was kinda nice explaining it to my Norwiegn roommate though, she loves talking to me about different cultures and stuff so she loved it when i explained all about Guy Faulks and the story behind the celebrations etc. God I miss the UK....|
Infact over the past few days i've been quite fed up and wishing I were back home and it may sound silly but i've even been missing the fact it's all cold and rainy and wintery back in England!!! But today was my day off and I decided to go to the Magic Kingdom on a Christmas shopping trip. I actually had a really nice day even though i went alone and it was at around 6:30pm, it was already dark and getting kind of chilly out, I bought a pretzel and made my way to the park exit. I walked through Cinderella's Castle and down Main Street, all the lights were on, magical music playing and I realised how lucky I am to be here. I started to feel all warm and Christmassy... Magic Kingdom really is the most magical place on earth you know!!!! Got the Monorail back to Epcot and met some of the UK lads also on their way back home. Walking backstage through Epcot one of the little golf buggies went by us (managers and custodial use them to get around backstage) and stopped and gave us a lift to the bus stop... how cool is that! I was so excited I'd never been in one of those before heheh!
So yeh today's been a pretty good day. It's been a weird week in general though. Last Friday was a really tough day. One of my friends out here had some very bad news from home; his brother had been killed in a car crash. He was only 21, it’s devastating. We sorted out a flight home and managed to collect enough between us all to pay for it. I don’t want to say much more about it.
After work on Saturday my housemates and I went to Epcot and had dinner in Norway which was really nice. I love spending time with my housemates, we’re so lucky we all get on so well!
Sunday I came down with flu and felt terrible!!! I called in to work to tell them i was sick but they told me i had to go in because they were short staffed so i did but after 3 hours i almost passed out and they had to send me home!!! So spent the rest of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday wrapped up either in bed or on the sofa feeling sorry for myself!!! Tuesday night I managed to muster up the energy to go out for a few hours. James, Lee, Kat, Kenny, Stu, Gemma and I went to 'Arabian Nights' which is a dinner show on the 192 in Kissimee. It was a fantastic show! It's a horse show and they do all kinda of stunts and tricks and routines, I was well impressed! We also had dinner - salad to start, then steak then cake afterwards. Wine was also included. It normally costs $50 but as we're cast members we got it for $8... dinner, drinks and a fantastic show all for £5.. wow!!!
Worked Wednesday and was meant to be off Thursday but as I'd had 2 days off sick I asked to work so I had my first shift on Podium - seating restaurant guests. I was very nervous about this because I had to learn all the table numbers almost immediately but I think I did pretty well and actually quite enjoyed it! Thursday night we had a 'scuzz party' in aide of Crabhands' birthday. 'scuzz' is the word many of the UK castmemebers use to describe ignorant, rude British people who don't tip and are generally idiots. I don't like the word myself because i don't like to judge but i still made an effort for the party, not that much effort was required as all i had to do was raid my wardrobe and i had my costume... England top, painted England flag on face etc etc. Was actually a really cool party and everyone looked really funny. Kenny's costume was the best.... he had on tracksuit bottoms tucked into big addidas socks and pure white trainers. A celtic top and hair gelled into a fringe and two earings... he looked like a typical 'rude boy' - the type that hangs around in the town centre and drives a vauxhall nova hehehe! It was so funny!!!
Until next time… !
