I'm planning on doing a range of alphabet suncatchers, letter and image in the style of a childrens alphabet book, only fractionally more sophisticated (possibly) and with designs that fit alongside my other work. The idea is that people can buy just one initial or a whole word, or whatever.

So, I have some ideas and I've been drawing all week, but I need some help deciding on the remaining letters...

E is for...

G is for...

H is for...

I is for...

J is for...

K is for..

N is for...

Q is for...

V is for...

X is for...

Y is for...

A is for...Collapse )

I haven't given up on my business. Just because I have less time, less energy, less anything to spare doesn't mean I've given up. If anything reaching this point has only pushed me a little more
So, among other ideas I've been not acting on for a while- offers on the website

Poll #1044393 good idea?

Which of these are good ideas?

Buy three suncatchers get another (cheapest) free?
(Very) small free gift with orders over X amount
Commissioned mirror during September (thinking of Christmas presents here) gets discount
Orders over X amount get voucher for future purchase
Some other brainwave which I will tell you below

my other brainwave is....

Just in case there is anyone local who might be interested..

I'm running a glasspainting workshop on Saturday morning (23rd June) at my shop in Tilgate Park, Crawley, and would really like to fill a few more places. If you're local and would like to come along I'm offering half price to livejournallers.

Details are here. To book either pay the deposit on the page there and email me your lj username, or just email or comment here me if you'd rather pay on the day.

And even if you're not local, go take a look at my website for some rather lovely mirrors, suncatchers and, mobiles.

Mondays and Tuesdays are, effectively, my weekend. On Mondays I mostly have company, and on Tuesdays I relish the few hours to myself. The trouble with that is that is that I tend to get all thinky. I've been doing a bit too much of that recently anyway for one reason and another.
Today I popped into town to pay money into the black hole bank, and somehow ended up having a conversation with the most beautiful three-ish year old girl. She couldn't see over the counter, but told me that's ok because she's growing every day. and so she can see something new every day.
We should all be able to do that I think. Thinky thinky think. I'm not sure that I am thinking something anew every day.
I've done alot of crying lately, but oddly I'm happier in general.

My grandmother turns 89 next week. And my son reaches school leaving age. Time passes so fast and life is short, or perhaps it is long but rushes by. My daughter is suddenly not a small child anymore.. her language, her shape, so self assured, perceptive and kind. And beautiful. Elder son is off to Ireland alone in just a few weeks. Middle son is suddenly that bit more organised and independant. Loving my children is almost painful, sometimes it seems that just looking at them will hurt my eyes.

Now a mountain of washing up calls to me, then the weekly D&D session with the kids. Then the bedtime routine. Then shower, and back to work (emails to re-send, I seem to have been having problems there) and some flyers to put together for the next glasspainting workshop. Then the packed lunches for tomorrow, and another load of washing on ready to hang out before leaving for the shop in the morning. (Will I ever see the bottom of the washing basket again? Ever?) Another day done. Must get the washing in.

I got some pictures of some of the suncatchers and things with the sun shining on/through them yesterday.
First the butterflies (which are selling really well) with a gorgeous reflection on the wall (yes that's just the one set there).

And then my new display board which is now hanging just outsude the shop door

The board seems to be working really well, pulling passers-by the few steps across the path and getting them inside. I've had a mad busy day again today. I really thought it would be a bit quieter in the week and I'd be able to get some painting done, but ooohhh no. The weekend is set to be hot, goodness knows how busy it will be then.
A month ago I was telling myself to stay calm, that things could change so fast, that Spring would bring the customers back. I am exhausted, but oh so relieved.
